And so it was. Also in the context here it would be "accepting,."not excepting. To construe this to mean that Carter -- who is far from senile -- is a racist is a demagogic attempt to undermine the debate. The fact is that a lot of Obama antipathy is due to racism.
To call Carter "senile" because you disagree with him further lowers the bar on civil discourse.

I remember the Carter back before he was running for President. Carter would say "boy" when he was speaking in reference to black men. Back then, the excuse for him referring black men as "boy" was because of his background. In other words, its like some older whites still refer to blacks as "colored". Carter just never got out of this bad habit.

yes he was struggling for phrasing at that moment is all, however had any of the right, used it, here would come that ACLU! Carter actually is a "Benedict Arnold" , for those of you who the real history education.
