Testing midi foot controller changing presets on the Axefx.

I have a fc100 controller from my old school roland gp8, how can I use it to control amplitude on my laptop? I mean how do you get midi to the laptop? Sorrry, im a newbie with this stuff, thanks if anyone can help.
