I honestly dislike music nowadays. All I hear basicly is just the same line repeated in songs, sexual lyrics, auto tuned voices, and moans that quite disturb me considering I'm 12. Now I rarely listen to popular music. I mean there are really good singers out there.
But now all I listen to is jpop like soundtrack in anime shows. Because the lyrics are very creative no auto tune on there voices. And its just beautiful music. Though I respect everybody's opininon.

But for Electronic music, indeed it does need mostly electronic sounds including the drums, acoustic sounds would be out of place there.

This video does over-simplify matters quite a bit. For instance, some of Lady Gagas songs have quite a bit of action going on in the arrangements and plenty of nuance. Also, plenty of blues and jazz is extremely formulaic and repetitive. I can turn the whole thing on its head by cherrypicking arguments, just like you have. Dont simplify a complicated matter! I do agree that compression is a crime against good quality, though :)

Also, our ears are accustomed to the sound of compression on recordings and it isn't a new thing at all. I think your point about compression might backfire with a lot of listeners.

Electric guitars are hardly even used anymore (without a synthesizer effect). @Hellcommander245 Lady Gaga writes her own music and I believe she has a strong hand in producing it as well. There's also her stage presence and her carefully crafted public persona to consider (and yes, rock stars also craft a public persona).
Would I buy the album? No. There is other music that I think is more interesting, but Gaga is making music for the masses on purpose and she is nailing it. It's a mistake to think she doesn't have loads of talent and skill.

Complexity is not equivalent with quality. While it is a tool that can be used for good music, so is simplicity and generalizing that good music is complicated shows, frankly, a lack of maturity in your musical taste.
If you are a musician I shudder to think where and from whom you received musical training because whoever instilled the idea in you that complicated is better is guilty of the most outrageous generalization I've ever heard. The 60s were the rock pioneers and most of them rocked. The 70s bands like black sabbeth founded metal. The 80s was hair metal and some pop and was good. the 90s was grunge music and seattle bands like Nirvana and Alice and Chains which were good. The 2000s um don't have much to say here it pretty much all sucked from then on. I think its because todays bands are sell outs and don't put heart into there music like bands of the past.

I heard this somewhere, in a lab they had trained rats to go through a maze, then they split the rats up into 3 groups, one group got exposed to today's rap, one was exposed to classical music, and the third group got none, then they ran the test again. The classical group finished first, the non-exposed ones second, and the rap group finished last, in fact the rap group even tried to kill each other, just shows how bad it really is.

@Hellcommander245 Lady Gaga writes her own music and I believe she has a strong hand in producing it as well. There's also her stage presence and her carefully crafted public persona to consider (and yes, rock stars also craft a public persona).
Would I buy the album? No. There is other music that I think is more interesting, but Gaga is making music for the masses on purpose and she is nailing it. It's a mistake to think she doesn't have loads of talent and skill.

the main raeson why it takes place though is that the main sound a baby hears is the heartbeat and other sounds at very small levels so when you have a distictive drum beat matching a heartbeat while other sounds are somewhat canceled out or silenced in comparison the reason why music sounds worse over time is because the more noise and sound instead of a heart beat the less you like that distictive beat play a drum beat at 128 bpm and slowly ad sounds it and tell me what you think

the reason why the younger you are the better that music sounds is because the average bpm rate of that music matches up to the bpm rate of a mothers heart while un the womb and scientific studies showed that as long as it is at that beat constantly with like drums or somthing and the fake drums sound like a heart beat in a way because of this all babies naturaly love sounds that are close to theirs or their mothers heartbeat but scientist have not concluded why this effect takes place

an acoustic kick drum, the genre of music that you were describing is a constantly evolving style and sound experimentation is a big part of that. Not that the experimentation is anything new, people have been creating alternative sounds for years. I would hate to see a world in which using mutes to alter the sound of a brass instrument was deemed as radical and "not what a trumpet sounds like" or if Jimi Hendrix employing effects pedals and all manner of new techniques (cont.)

It is a compressed and EQ'd sample that (While sounding great in my opinion) did nothing for your point of "What a bass drum sounds like". Nothing complicated about it, but it is some of the most moving and inspiring music ever made, not to mention even with the simple structure, the subtle melodic concepts are some of the most brilliant works of composition in recent history. Complexity is not equivalent with quality. While it is a tool that can be used for good music, so is simplicity and generalizing that good music is complicated shows, frankly, a lack of maturity in your musical taste.

The beautiful thing about music is that it can be whatever you want it to be. The possibilities are endless. Who are you to decide what is and isn't music? Simplicity and complexity mean nothing. What means something is that people can relate to it and enjoy it. I don't personally think there's anything wrong with the fact that today's popular music is more rhythmically than harmonically driven. What actually bothers me is the people who are in it for the money and not the love of what they do.

I love old music. I was raised on the old thrash, death, black, power and heavy metal/NWOBHM bands. I was also raised on classic rock. I am so glad that I was never into the shit that they tried to pass off as "music".
However, I personally think that there is some good music today. You will just have to find it. Here is one solution: turn off MTV and the radio. You will not find any good music there. Look for some lesser known bands.

The 90's and early 2000's music of every gender as a whole was the BEST!!!! Today it is repetitive and full of blase cliches, with a few exceptional artist. The 60s were the rock pioneers and most of them rocked. The 70s bands like black sabbeth founded metal. The 80s was hair metal and some pop and was good. the 90s was grunge music and seattle bands like Nirvana and Alice and Chains which were good. The 2000s um don't have much to say here it pretty much all sucked from then on. I think its because todays bands are sell outs and don't put heart into there music like bands of the past.

it was one of the demo songs that came with band in a box. I saved it as a midi, then edited it in Mod Plug Tracker, I put some better sounds in and game it some drums.

Club music serves its purpose. Its not supposed to be overly complicated. You just need to be able to dance to it for fucks sake.
And, the idea that the music of today sucking is absolutely absurd. Anyone who has this opinion does not do enough searching and is only aware of the horribleness that plays on Top 40 Radio. No wonder you think modern music sucks.
Old music had some suckage, as well. We just don't remember them because they fucking sucked.

Whoa, just thought of something else, listen to a technical death metal band like Sympathy or early Becoming the Archetype, and tell me that it's simplistic. You may not like it but it's way more complex then the examples you gave of so-called "real music".

Dude, this is based on your narrow opinion, now I don't personally like the music you're talking about, but you can't say all of today's music sucks, okay, other people have different tastes than you. If you want some good modern music, try Mastodon's newest album, or Harvestman.

I heard this somewhere, in a lab they had trained rats to go through a maze, then they split the rats up into 3 groups, one group got exposed to today's rap, one was exposed to classical music, and the third group got none, then they ran the test again. The classical group finished first, the non-exposed ones second, and the rap group finished last, in fact the rap group even tried to kill each other, just shows how bad it really is.

The sad thing is that pathetic, manufactured beat you used in this video is better than most of the garbage kids listen to today. I'd actually prefer it over the likes of Soulja Boy, Beyonce, ect...

The best music is '50s like Elvis, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, et cetera. That music is awesome.
