"Stockings and Shoes" TAN BREVE COMO FABULOSA. COMO UNA PETTIT SUISSE : CALIDAD EXTREMA EN POCO TAMAÑO. SI NO CONTAMOS A ELVIS PARA MI EDDIE ES MI Nº. 1 ABSOLUTO DEL ROCK & ROLL.
This is absolutely lovely, Roxy! He's something, that Eddie! Thanks for the share...btw, it takes me a long time to get through my "shares" -- right now I've got about 80 waitin' for me! LOL! So never think I'm ignorin' you...just takes me awhile! Love you much! Red
Eddie was most Rockn'Roll as can be. A great icon of '50s rnroll and angelic punk...if u fullow my drift folks.
And I second 92587: For the untrained ear, Ed might sound like El. But I hear at once if it's Ed or El. I neither take side of Eddie or Elvis being best from the great '50s Rockn'Roll era. Both at that time was best in my pov. tnx
For the untrained ear, perhaps, Eddie sounds like Elvis. In the same way, I suppose, that 'all black people look alike.' But, indeed, all blacks don't look alike and Eddie was very distinct from Elvis. Cudos to Eddie Cochran, too, cuz he wrote most his own stuff. Elvis is great, I'm not taking sides.
Sure, each single person has his or her unique voice. What I wanted to say is just that Eddie's and Elvis' voice sounded similar (not equal). The fact that Elvis was a great image for Eddie may underline this. On the other side, even Gene Vincent sounded almost like Eddie, and the same may hold when you compare Buddy Holly with Bobby Vee, at least in some cases. So either way you put it, we will more or less trace similarities in several rockn roll singers's voices.
I won't take sides between Elvis and Eddie as I love both and each was very important for rock N Roll. But the reality is, the reason Eddie, Gene and hundreds others in the early 50s sound similar to El;vis is simply because they were influenced by the Presley sounds and the way he use to go from high tones to low tones at the drop of a hat. Even Conway Twitty sounded (imitated) like Elvis
i would take sides in the sense tht Eddie composed his music while elvis performed. theres a huge differance.ill give this 1 to eddie, he did write tha song

Eddie Cochran was amazing - he's sing as naturally as breathing. His passing so young was a tragedy; his musical legacy is a delight.

What a legend - that voice of his! He was so young, too, but he sounded like he did a lot of living!
He was one of my all time favorite singers/rockers. Forgive me, but I think he had twice the depth and chops that Elvis ever did!

But Fats sounded...Fats. He was amazingly important too, as a major figure in the Rockn'Roll field.
