Well..., guess it's just me who got a standard version of HD 4850..., but unfortunately I can't play or use my new rig since January because my HD 4850's overheat, so my processor was broken and I haven't used my new computer for about 3 months ( I only have used it for about 3 weeks and it's broken )
the processor?? but if the gpu overheats that means that there is something that is too close from its heatsink, try cheking the cables, or maybe another card, so u can remove em and fix it ^^
no itd be better to just wait for next year when a better card comes out and the gtx 280 and 4870 come down in price. the difference between the 9800gt and hd 4850 isnt worth spending another 200 dollars.
You cant find any faster card at that priceclass of a HD4850... it even outperforms 3 times more expensive cards in some games. Its ALOT OF BANG FOR THE MONEY....
id love to see benchmarks to back your claims with. considering ive seen benchmarks of the 4850 getting slightly beaten by a 9800gtx+ something thats slightly more expensive, i think your full of it.
I was undecided on which card to get...I've narrowed it down to 3...hd4850, 9800gx2, and 8800 ultra which do you think would be best also I have a Phenom 9550 2.2 ghz and 5 gigs of ddr2 ram 800mhz would Crysis run good on this?
i just wanted 2 tell u and im not gonna get a 3870 or a 4850 coz im gonna get a 98oogtx+ for $209 which has a 55nm gpu so im gonna be able 2 overclock it better than the 3850 and 3870
ok enjoy your purchase :) as far as i know the hd 4850 and the 9800 gtx * are pretty much equal, the 4850 behaving a bit better with effects like antialiasing and anisotropic filtering but that depends on what games u are running
i still got pentium 4 on my advent t9306 man thats old skool had my pc for along time n bk then it cost like 1000 pounds lol still a good pc with a massive hard drive
lucky...i have to wait like about a month since i js started working a week ago...itll take me the rest of the month to make what i need....which is like 350 canadian dollars since i already have a good case and power supply and dvd drive and hard drive and stuff...ill prolly upgrade some stuff later too.
u should get vista though...trust me it is ALOT better...i have both xp and vista on my pc and xp doesnt even compare lol...also, i got a virus on xp like after 2 weeks...but vista is very secure...and it has like no issues after all the updates and SP1 and stuff...
actually if u want to play on very high settings u should try the xp very high settings tweak for crysis. It will run a lot smoother with much of the graphical quality of vista very high settings. Also i think 4 gb ram would be more advisable for vista. If u want to play on vista then go dx9 mode and play on high settings they will work just as xp but very high in vista costs a lot of fps
aa ok then :) but i think u should either play xp very high or vista dx9 high settings for smoother gameplay. Besides dx10 settings in vista cost a lot of fps and dont have that much improvement over high settings
lol no im not keeping pentium 4 anymore :)... im getting a core 2 duo e7200 45nm and overclocking it to like 3.5GHz prolly although it goes to 4.1, id rather have it cooler though :)
U might thinking of getting a better cpu than 3800+ though. Yes i am running in xp. I have an nforce 4 mainboard with pci express 16 so not 2.0 . I played the game well on 1152*864 very high

the 9800gt is the same like the 8800gt
the hd4850 is better than the 8800ultra
the 8800ultra is better than the 8800gt
according to that the hd4850 must be better than the 9800gt

You can also disable it? Very nice vid.
23floppy23 3 years ago
Man, you have to overclock your cpu!
If it's dualcore you need 2.8GHz to play crysis well!
You'll get fps more than 30 on better cpu.
Sorry for my english. :P

okay but i found a 3870 that coast $130 and its a single slot card u can buy it from tigerdirect
rodaz440 3 years ago
i would u suggest you go for the 4850 instead of 3870 it's much better and i dont think it's that much more expensive

The HD 4870 and the gtx 260 are a lot better though personally if i could i would wait a little while more and save the money for one of those

there is like a 8fps diference between the 4870 and 9800gtx+ but the 9800gtx+ is way cheaper

do u think i cud play this on 1280x1024, very high on vista with 4850, 2gb ddr2-800 ram, and Pentium 4 HT(HyperThreading)at like 4GHz?

your processor will bottleneck the card kind of a lot so i'd say go with high and you'll be fine =]
derderfan56 3 years ago
ill prolly just put a lower res...
and no worries ill get a new cpu after i get it as soon as i can :)...prolly like an e8400 or a q6600

yo, im thinking of upgrading my system to exactly yours.
are you running it with xp?
and does your mobo have a pci e 16 or pci e 16 2.0?
and whats your fps? without fraps obviously!
