  • does maemo mapper provide turn by turn street navigation? i may have missed something in the video but does it work via the gps reciever or wifi?

  • resource hog!

  • Cool video!

This was all I needed to see before DLing Maemo Mapper to my N810.

    Thanks!

  • how is it working on your n810? how does it compare to the factory gps software/wayfinder?

  • hi i have a question about the cell phone, does the Nokia - hi i have a question about the cell phone, does the Nokia - Wireless Internet Tablet N800 needs a sim card or its just a mobile phone? if i have a tmobile sim card can put it in the phone and use the phone?

  • It does not take a SIM at all. You can connect to your mobile via bluetooth or use Wifi to connect. Calling is only VOIP from the tablet

  • Its really more of a pocket sized computer, not a cell phone but it does have VOIP Web cam capabilities. So basically if you want a pocket sized computer here you go.

  • @Psychopath2000 not a phone

  • I need some help. I have a n800 with os2008. When I try to use Maemo mapper, there is only a blue screen. It worked at first but no wit won't. I reinstalled it as well with no luck. When I import GPX files it crashes. When I try to download it fails. What am I diong wrong?

  • Possibility Memory. Overload check your memory stats and ditch the 50 cent mp3 files. Or buy more sd cards. Still need more details are you running Diablo OS2008

  • are the maps available offline as well?

  • Thanks for the video. If you're curious to know (and haven't found out already), I think the satellite diagram tells you two things-- their bearing in the sky, and their angle in it. The closer they are to the center of the circle, the higher they are in the sky (I think...). Maybe that info. is useful if you're trying to get a better fix on certain satellites.

  • Hi atmosphere

    This is very coooool indeed

I wanted to ask if meamo mapper can work with maps stored on a memory card for exp ! for offline navigation

  • absolutely - you can choose how much to download

  • Thanks,

I mean if it's possible to have all the maps stored on a memory card instead of having a web coonection ... can you configure the meamo to use those data localy ?

  • yes - it does that automatically once maps are downloaded

  • As I do not own an N800 and I am not an IT whiz but I got the drift. It seems that: - with wi-fi + this mapper + the N800's own GPS

I can locate myself on any downloaded map.

Well done. This is a bit like the "heady" days of the Atari - 800 !

PS: I wonder whether you can download the "Travel Directions" from Rand McNally, etc.

  • you can use both wifi and your cellular (over bluetooth) connection. The N800 does not have GPS inside, you need to bring your own. I use the LD-3W though there is a 4W now. This is more for tracking than navigation. There's a different navkit you can use for driving directions ... this is free though

  • yes but what web source you put there?

  • the best source for current URIs is on the Internet Tablet Talk forums... the Maemo Mapper developer is quite active in the application thread

  • WHERE FROM YOU DOWNLOADED MAPS ?

  • You have to set which source by URI you want (or choose multiple) and then maps download as you go.

  • You almost seem a little afraid when you get the incoming call! Haha... What do you REALLY use that device for?

  • You have to download and install it

  • is this available in the device when you buy it or you have to download and instal it;

  • I'll add that to my list of videos to make... ;)

  • Any chance you could show the navigation capabilities of maemo mapper?
