An established Republican is voting for Obama. America is in a crisis and we need Obama. Leach understands that, I wish the other Republicans would too. Obama for America!
You listening to this Hannity,Limbaugh and the the rest of you Pary Loyalists?? Thuis man has integrity. Something the Vannity and Bimbo wil never have!!!
Watching this moved me to tears...you couldn't ask for a better indictment of what our government has fallen to. His stance reminds me of of a beloved former governor from my home state of Rhode Island, who later became Navy Secretary and Senator...the late John Chafee. He worked across the aisles to get things done for the good of the country, political dogma be damned. I see a lot of this highlighted in Mr. Leach's speech, and in what Obama stands for.
I watched all the speeches given last night and this one was the most impassioned and serious, and by far had the most 'meat on the bone' of any speech given.
Note the tone in which it was given. Dead serious. Now, remember Zell Miller speaking at the GOP Convention in 2004? Does the phrase, "Raving maniac" come to mind?
Mr. Leach meant what he said... and he said it well.
Wow that just shows how awesome Obama is that a REPUBLICAN would vote for him and put the nations interest before his party's. The really sad thing is though, probably like no Republicans are watching this because if they are they might change their minds and vote for Obama. But that guy seriously sounded like Kermit the Frog. Great speech though!!!!
This guy deserves a lot of respect. For an old school Republican to understand which are the risks in which America is falling right now needs courage and real love for his country
This video needs to be watched by everyone of the republican party. I am certain that to the majority it would be a large wake up call. The republican party of the now is a cesspool, but most are so used to living in shit that they don't even smell it anymore.
You're absolutely right Phazon, unfortunately the partisan politics of ideologues has caused a devolution of our political system into an abyss of irrationality perpetuated by 527s and newsfotainment channels. Now all most voters care about is rather the Elephant will pass the Donkey or vice versa and get the checkered flag. It's really sad. Especially when it's so easy to get the facts. That speech says it all. It's good to see a politician not voting and thinking along some party agenda, but rather as a regular citizen with his own brain and heart. All should see this one.
I am very impressed by how clever the Obama camp was to put such a down to earth pragmatic Republican right between the emotionally moving speeches by Kennedy and Michelle.
Not a lot of fireworks, but this was a really nice speech. Don't make the mistake of just cheering Leach just because he's an Obamacan, but listen to why he has decided to cross party lines at this time. The words are perhaps the best delivered on Convention Day One by someone not named Obama. We can hope that the Bush-era Republican party suffers humiliating defeat and the new GOP party that eventually rises from those ashes has a platform much like what's delivered here.
dude...i am a devout d and love the fact that we got some r's on board, but jim leach sounds like kermit the frog...which makes him awesome...kermit is the frigging bomb!!!!
he is so annoying and yea he does sound like kermit...and im independent voting for obama!!!

Makes me proud I was born and raised in Iowa. I understand he and his opponent in 2006 ran one of the cleanest and most respectful campaigns ever.

This is a great speech, but way over the heads of many Americans and under the radar of their sensationalistic media.

Awesome! The delivery is def Kermit the Frog; but this is one of the best speeches I've heard in a long time, as far as the content goes.
