how can you campare 5 horse power to 3.5?? savage xl is nice but it doesnt have reverse i like reverse n doesnt this truck have reverse?so thats a good thing to have

@paulbetta get a savage if you get the 8.0 youll never enjoy it youll be too busy fixing it and smaller mgt cant compare in power plus still isnt durable!!!!! as it the same as 8.0 just diff motor ive owned alot of rc and been in rc along time it dont get beter than hpi
My brother living in switzerland races with the MTA4 S50 (8,2cc) and his next door freind have a Savage XL (the big one) and the MTA4 starts sleightly faster and seems to be quicker too. Each time they crash together, the savage breaks and the MTA4 still runs !
Only point, better hydraulic shocks on the savage and sleightly better road hold too.
I just bought mine. First time with nitro. This thing is awesome. I burn through fuel quick. It may be too rich, but my engine temp is hard to keep below 250-275. I want to lean it out but am afraid it will get too hot. I will take it to local hobby store for my free tune up and hopefully that will get it running just right. I wish I knew more about how to get the temp under better control
the temperature outside can drastically effect your temps. if it's anything under around 50F outside, i'ts nearly impossible to keep it under 270. sounds strange but the colder it is outside, the warmer it will run.
thats because when it gets cold it leans the air/fuel mixture and when it gets warm it richens the air/fuel mixture. when it runs lean (cold outside) obviously its gonna run hotter, not so strange if you think about it. ;^)
I have a MGT 3.0 and bought a R/C Nova cooling head for it and it dropped the average run temp of my truck 40-50 degrees. well worth the 35 bucks I paid for it.
if you are trying to decide between the jato and mgt i would most definately go mgt. the jato is fast but squirly and hard to keep in control. i think 3.3 in a jato is way too much but thats just me
As of right now i am still waiting on my spur gear to come in the mail to get the mgt back out. Out of 4 cars only one is in driving condition at the moment. and thats my original MGT 4.6, The 8.0 needs a spur gear and i need to reglue the tires on. The jato 3.3 needs some adjustments and needs a new starter controler(mom ran it over with her car!) and the GT2 needs all new gears throughout the inside (im guessing atleast) I didnt open it up yet. So there wont be anymore vids for a lil while...

i think i'm gonna use your break-in procedure too. when you say you hold the throttle for X amount of seconds and then break, how long do you break for? just enough time for the engine to idle down?

runtimes about 20 mins or so on a full tank. The 8.0 is the best monster truck out atm. and the 5.9 savage only compares to thbe mgt 4.0. the 8.0 and savage r completely different trucks.

I actualy had this stock when i took the vid but when my parts come in ill make a new vid. I Put tons of stuff on it, the thing rips so much it actualy ripped every notch on the spur gear clean off, and my new tires pulled off the rims because the glue couldnt handle the power. I love it!

Whenever i break my cars in i do a total of 4 tanks of gas. The first tank i dont go over quarter throttle and just give it gas for 2 seconds break. ect til the tanks out. then 2nd tank i do half throttle for 3 seconds brean repeat. 3rd tank i do half gas for 6 seconds break then repeat. then the 4th tank i do burts of full throttle for 6 seconds.

Yeah i have the 4.6 also. I sold it to my dad and bought the 8.0 though cause i got bored of it. I was lucky we had record breaking heat up here on one day it reached 70 degrees. and that happened to be the weekend that i broke mine in and did alot of adjustments. But im not really going to drive it much because of the cold. Ive had my Jato just break in half from the cold air on the plastic.

The 8.0 tells you the CC and it's a 5hp motor. The RPM is around 26,000
