does anybody know the biological reason for why east-asians have such a non-visible muscle build? I mean, I bet these 2 fighters hit just as hard as some of the top european, american, african etc MT-fighters - but yet asians bodies look always LOOK very skinny/weak - why is that?

I understand the attraction of Muay Thai due to it's history and it allowing elbows. But the fact is that K1 is based on updated Muay Thai rules in order to be more spectator friendly and to protect the athletes.

K1 is a compromise to allow fighters of different styles to compete to determine who is the best. JWP was muay thai world champion but couldn't cut it at the top tier of K1.

K1 fighters also show much more highly developed boxing skills.

He started out training in boxing and switched to kickboxing at the ago of 17. Only Masato's knee strikes are pure muay thai.

His kicking technique is mostly karate based, take his roundhouse kick, he throws it straight up rather than arcing it.

Masato never went for a WMC title. He is a kick-boxer and as such has held kickboxing world titles. My point is that Masato has beaten numerous Muay Thai world champions (Menor, JWP, Buakaw).

A lot of fighters that are not Muay-Thai practitioners wear prajead (that's the proper name for "muay thai arm bands"). Notice that Masato doesn't enter the ring wearing a Mongkol (as all thai fighters do).

Take a look at Tsuyoshi Yokoyama, he's a kyokushin fighter and he often wears prajead.

You either didn't read the comment you replied to, or you are blind. Masato's techniques are clearly not muay-thai and his fighting style is nothing like that of a muay-thai practitioner.

What most people don't realize is that vicarious violence in sports is a social outlet and control rather than an increasing factor of violence. Same could be said of violent movies and cartoons. The real news of real events causes more violence than controlled or fake violence.

Its because Muay Thai fighters in thailand are alot smaller then fighters in K-1.. Buakaw is huge compare to most thais and has t fight in K-1 moreover, he is not even good technically in Thailand standards.

I think you'll find that Buakaw is currently muay thai world champion, was Omnoi Stadium champion and won the Toyota Marathon. He has improved a lot since then but still got KO'd by Sato and was almost KO'd by Dida! (If you've not heard of him he's a mediocre MMA fighter with no stand up background and an MMA record of 6:4:1).

It's not a matter of opinion, as to whether K-1 is better than Muay-Thai, it is fact. Regardless of the differences in rules, K-1 is the top tier, with the finest athletes from various styles.

K-1 brings together Muay-Thai world champions (JWP, Buakaw, Yod), shoot-boxing world champions (Souwer), along with world champion kick-boxers (Masato), and anyone of any other style who can cut it.

K-1 rules are in place to ensure that the fights are exciting, and the use of knees and clinching was removed to differentiate it from Muay-Thai. Having rules identical in K-1 would give Muay-Thai fighters an unfair advantage.
