It feels like every M:TG player knows who Jace is, but a mere 1/4 (or even less) who Urza is, or Mishra, or Yawgmoth or Barrin or whatever...

Just make cards of these, even if they are dead, it would help out new players to get the lore, which is half of the game...

@WelfareAssassin Choose two "ally" colors (adjacent on the 'wheel') that you think you'll like. Then pick out several key cards you'd like to play and start building around them. If you want to get a little more advanced, learn about the mana curve.

Aim for about 36 non-lands. Then add the colored cost of each card (keeping separate totals for each color) and divide by 2. This is roughly how many of each land you'll need.

Ex:

28 red & 18 green = 14 Mountains & 9 Forests

@dejaimeneto Buy singles. And don't make more than 1 deck every release, or every 2 releases, or even every block if you're able. And if you're playing casual you won't need to buy new cards at all. It has a pretty steep entry fee, but once you're in it should be pretty cheap annually. 50-100$, which to be fair, is a lot less than for example video games.

@19eminem1998 jace the mind sculptor is probably one of the best cards in the game. to bad he's banned now. basically if you werent running him or building a deck designed to try and stop him you were irrelevant in game play. his ability allows you to make your opponent discard there whole deck. one of the most dominant cards ever made

Bought a 2011 tool kit just to see what it was about. Came with two m11 packs, a scars and a besieged. Got a mystifying maze a phyrexian hydra, precursor golem and in my last pack got a jace beleren and foil chandra nalaar. Im not a huge planeswalker fan but it still was pretty cool.

Plus lots of playable commons and uncommons.

In the hobby store that I go to there is a slot machine that spits out rares for a dollar and at certain points you can win a whole box of the most in stock box set (of course only after enough bad rares are sold to pay off the box on the stores behalf, after about 100+ cards sold), i pulled a paper that specifically stated 'World Wake' (they never did specific boxes since), it was the very last box in stock and i got it for about $20 or so, and it had Jace, the mind sculpter in it.
