  • you got to be kidding me.

  • Ah, Sherry Jackson of Star Trek fame.

  • Don't take life too seriously, no one makes it out alive.

  • Well, the tobacco companies did not force the consumer to smoke. However, through the most clever advertising of the 20th century, they did entice millions to take up a lethal and addicting habit. Witness the Flintstones shilling for Winstons in the early 1960's. Children and adults were all fair game, the companies had no shame. Above all else, money. Your health does not matter to us.

  • Smoker for Intelectuals

  • Marlborough :)

  • smoke weed, its so much better than tobacco if you ever do wish to smoke

  • TOMACOOOOO TOMACOOOOOOOOOOO XDDDDD

  • Comment removed

  • ah smoking...who cares if you need a bath afterwards...or that it tastes like a pencil eraser...or that it rots your teeth, tongue, gums, windpipe and all internal organs...or that it has absolutely no positive effects whatsoever.

  • @diddymuck

    Well said.

  • @diddymuck Fuck off , retard. Greece has the highest smoking rate in the world...AND the highest longevity! SO FUCK YOU!

  • @Treelinesmoker Yes, but can Greece ever get back into the black is the question...

  • unbelievable, just unbelievable

  • when you think of it, it's kind of funny how plain in sight these nazis are hiding :p

  • i can only imagine if tobacco was made illegal instead of weed imagine the world today XD

  • was marijuana legal back then?

  • @mxrhodesjr no it became illegal in 1937

  • @mxrhodesjr marijuana was never legal, it just wasnt enforced until the late 70s, they legalized it in late 1880s because hemp was putting silk companies out of buisness, silk used to make ropes, clothes and just about everything else

  • @ :23 I thought he said "Pervert Tareyton"

  • Outstanding!

    ..and they are mild!

  • I never knew Pall Mall was pronounced pell mell

  • people who don't smoke ...... die too!!!

  • Are they actually saying PELL MELL? Sonds rather like it. Is that meant to be posh?

  • My first cigarette was Pall Mall. It came from a red soft pack that cost less than a quarter. I didn't inhale at first, only puffed on it with my brother and friends while hiding in the bushes or under a bridge. We used to swipe them from our grandmothers and uncles as well. If we got caught, we received a whooping, but getting away with it added to the fun.

We were ignorant about the consequences of smoking. There were no warning labels on the pack at all and smoking was considered "manly".

  • Let me get this right. Get a girl, the right cigarette and what later a coffin!! Well I guess they left that part out!!

  • "AWBEEBIBEEBIBIBBITYBIBBITYSOLDAMERICAN!" How come they didn't show the people who really work on tobacco farms (Latinos, African-Americans and Asians)? Apparently they didn't want white middle class America to know those people even existed. American folk song buffs may recognize the melody in the jingle as "Sweet Betsy From Pike". I like at the end how the announcer has to plug in "And they are mild". That's not what I always heard from Pall Mall smokers.

  • "When you choose the right girl, you choose the right cigarette."

  • Im a smoker, but I agree thats its not healthy, but still u die soo dont give a crap. Wont live forever.....

  • @Minofin

I quit smoking 2 years ago and feel a lot better, my neighbor lady is 79, I see her every morning on the porch having coffee and a cigarette, makes me wonder WTF I quit for.

  • @TheJomogogo LOL

  • ...and they are mild.

  • 0:53 (singing) Here's a suggestion you shouldn' t forget, when you choose the right girl choose the right cigarette.... If she smokes a camel throw her ass out the door! Pall Mall is the answer now smoke up some more!

  • With a world population of 7 billion people, the world would be much worse without smoking. Smoking SHOULD be encouraged and made as cheap as possible!

  • haaha pause and look at that dudes face at 0:43

  • lemme get started.

Im 15 and i ADORE smoking. now for all those health freaks, you are going to die just like all of us, and you're going to rot in the same earth as any other living organism. so why dont you give me a lecture on the dangers of smoking when your face is reduced to bone by worms. oh ya and btw sorry to say but white teeth dont turn yellow and crappy cuz of smoking, lack of proper hygiene will do that much faster.

hence let people fucking live and lets not regulate life

  • She won't have those white teeth for long...

  • haha oldschool

  • From the expressions on the faces of those two, greater length is the whole story, if you catch my drift! lol Yeah, I have a dirty mind.

  • Long Cigarette is Long! I guess it means it takes less of them to kill you...

  • they forgot to say they give you cancer

  • and they are MILD!

lol okay dude that means alot

  • did they have benzene, arsenic, formaldehyde etc etc in them in the 50's?

  • luckies are ok, but I still like Pall Mall best.

  • @ewkeane luckys and pall malls were sold off from the old American Tobacco co....sold to brown & williams who make cools. The Pall Malls taste as good as they ever did...BUT...something happened to the luckys....they changed them and they taste like ass now

  • @inkey2 The tobacco changed because of the process involved in cigarette manufacturing. They probably found a "cost effective" way of reconstituting the shredded tobacco product or they might have added or done away with flavoring agents such as skatole. IMHO I grew the best tobacco and I knew how to harvest, cure, dry, and prepare it. What I came up with was my own tax free and additive free cigarette and pipe tobacco.

I remember the HORSE SHIT cigarettes that came from Tijuana. That's funny

  • Smoke your butt

  • Okay so at 1:00 their dancing and decide to stop all of the sudden for a smoke break WTF?

  • Have u ever been to a rave party?

  • Well, the pronunciation is English, not American English.

  • Pall Mall hasn't been the same since Joe Camel bought American Tobacco. Haven't tried Luckies in years. They probably are just like Camels by now. Remember when L.S.M.F.T. ?

  • Outstanding... and they are mild.

    Till they kill ya!

  • Come on - he smoked for over 65 years and now you want to make the cigarettes responsible for his death?

People die when they become older - that's our nature!

  • yeah he could've had a heart attack from something else instead like....fatty food. pfft as if cigarettes coz any health damages. it's all a big conspiracy just like aliens...or 9/11. sif terrorists did that..... (sorry whoshootbamby this ain't directed at you it's just funny following your comment is all please disregard it i just want to see how people reply)

  • true

cigerrette do cause cancer its just ppl r affected to it in different intensities

  • Pall Mall cigarettes killed my uncle Keith by causing his heart attack. He smoked Pall Mall for over 65 years!

  • omg dude then he lived fucking long, i bet u he started at like 14

  • @jimmyjam9014 thats what I was saying....if he smoked for 65 years he must have started at like 15....that would make him 80 years old. Thats like saying he chewed gum for 65 years and thats what killed him. Certainly cigarette smoking is a gamble...like driving a motorcycle or lieing in the sun all the time...of course some peoples genetics save their ass from dieing young regardless of what bad habits they have

  • @robertjonasson : honestly, not to be a wise ass by saying this.....my dad never smoked a day and he died of a heart attack. Also.......if your uncle "smoked for 65 years" and lets say he was 15 when he started...that makes him 80...which is 3 years "older" than the average life span of the American male......so it really did not kill him per say.....more likely eating a bad diet...meat, fried foods

  • @inkey2 are you supporting tobacco or not cause if you are your a big fag

  • @Smart0pz : I'm not quite sure what you mean.....I do not support tobacco any more (or less) than I support the alcohol companies, fast foods, the gambling industry, the skin tanning industry, or any other adult choice. Poor diet and physical inactivity kills almost as many people (per year in the USA) as tobacco.....so if you have ever eaten MacDonalds, Burger King food etc "you" are just as big a fag as someone that supports the tobacco industry

  • @inkey2 well when i found out that fast food shortens life (when i was 12)(im 15 now) ive never set foot on a fast food restaurant

  • @inkey2 Interesting that Smart0pz chose to call you a "fag", considering how that was once a slang term for cigarette. (Or maybe he was calling you a cigarette?)

  • @elc1960 I hear the brits have always used that term "fag" for cigarette

  • @robertjonasson 65 years of wonderful, joyful, smoking. I envy your uncle.

  • @robertjonasson Or maybe he got a heart attack from being old.

  • @robertjonasson I'm guessing anything for 65 years will kill you!!!!!!

    perhaps you uncle died of........................age!

  • @rainallday my great grandfather started when he was 14 and died at 89. a freind started when he was 15 and died at 27. bill hicks started when he was 21 and died at 35. my grandfather started at 13 quit when he was 43 and died at 73. i started at 6 (parents smoked, easy to get) and i still smoke and i'm in good health at 28.

  • @robertjonasson if he started smoking at the age of 15 he had a damn long life! a whoopin' 80 years or something, you are a blessed man if you reach that age!

  • @robertjonasson I agree with everyone else even if he started at 5 he still lived to eb 70 that's old age.

  • i can't believe they don't care about us, our families, and friends. sooo many deaths r directly linked 2 tobacco smoking. plus, believe it or not, most of all cigs r tested on animals. [if u don't believe it, look it up.]

  • They All Lied!

  • lol I like the ending and they are miled

  • Why do they pronounce Pall Mall as "Pell Mell?"

  • No. Pall Mall cigarettes are not mild. They will set your head on fire like a match.

  • grandpops used to smoke pall malls

  • I Love Jean Hagen!

  • Mom used to smoke Herbert Tareyton blue line when she was alive,Once a year me and my brother get together and smoke one of those bad ass cigs.

  • 'Tobacco is our middle name'. Those of you who remember this, raise your hand.

  • It's true! Also fine cannabis is its own best filter!

  • cannabis doesnt neec a filter

  • ...and they are mild! lol

  • Ya I know... very awkward ending!

  • That was amusing...

    ....

    and..they are mild.

  • gotta love those tunes

  • btw folks, you can get these commercials AND the accopanying episodes of Make Room for Daddy if you search your local dollar store. This is from a cheepie dvd from digiview entertainment. Also has Dodge adds on there too. :)

  • Pall Mall red is my favourite!

  • wot the hell man

    smooke pall mall???????

  • "GUNSMOKE" was actually sponsored on TV AND radio in 1955-'56 by Liggett & Myers' Chesterfield {"They satisfy..the MOST"} and L&M {"Live Modern..smoke L&M"}. American Tobacco was too busy sponsoring "THE JACK BENNY PROGRAM", "ROBERT MONTGOMERY PRESENTS YOUR LUCKY STRIKE THEATER", "PRIVATE SECRETARY", and "YOUR HIT PARADE" at the time...

  • Two legendary icons lost their lives to excessive smoking, right in 1965.

    Who were they?

  • One was Nat King Cole, can't remember the other. I know John Wayne had a lung removed the year before, he'd smoked about 1 million cigarettes in his lifetime. These old commericals kill me, I remember a lot of them before they were removed in 1971, everybody smoked back then.

  • I believe that when Mr. Wayne had hislung removed it actually cut his smoking in half.

  • The other was the one and only Edward R. Murrow.

  • Edward R. Murrow once hosted a program about the

hazards of smoking and said very candidly that

he could not go for 15 minutes without a cigarette. However - I smoke and know the risks and frankly all these scare tactics just make the kids want to try them more - the forbidden

    fruit theory...

  • Pall Mall are horrible cigarettes... They have nearly no taste at all, and the taste that they do have tastes like a mix of clay and spices...

  • did you smoke the filter ones or unfiltered ones?

  • yes, greater length means more carcinogens. Outstanding......and they can kill you.

  • Make room for daddy, HE HAS LUNG CANCER!!!!!!!!!!

  • The many benefits of tobacco smoking have been largely overlooked by the health professionals of today.

  • There really aren't any other then mental health.

  • cigarettes arent dangerous? Wow, we have just met the biggest idiot on the planet, or just someone who works for the tobacco demons.

  • The dangers of tobbaco are vastly overstated. There is really no reason to quit other than to satisfy the tobbaco nazis who cant mind their own buisiness.

  • @adsooner05 you're obviously an idiot in denial.

  • @adsooner05 ... That would make a good tombstone inscription for a smoker who ignored all the warnings and died of lung cancer.

  • I'm 4 1/2 years off the smokes and I still get the craving!

Everyday is a constant struggle against the scagg.

I wish the best of luck to anyone looking to kick. I swear it can be done but I knonw that it's also a nightmare.

Hint: Go cold turkey and get through the 1st 6 months. It really is the toughest part. Godspeed.

  • Congratulations. If no one has told you, then I'll tell you because I've been there: I am proud of you.

I've been 13 years without a cigarette, and it still is difficult at times, but I wouldn't knowingly jeopardize my health again for a lack of self-control.

  • When I first kicked it was something out of the film Trainspotting.

I'd have a cig now but I know that if I use nicotine even once, I'm hooked again and the thought of going through withdrawal when trying to quit again is the most frightening part.

  • You are really an inspiration to all. My grandfather was taken away from me by cigarettes...I only have one memory of him: walking up the stairs when I was 3. By the way, I ment to press thumbs up on your first comment at the top but I accidentially pressed thumbs down. Very sorry!

  • Thanks for the words of encouragment. One thing that I miswrote on my original posting is it's the 1st six WEEKS, not months, that are the toughest.

But don't ask me how I did it. It just happened I got lucky. Physical addiction is a bloody nightmare.

  • I quit cigarettes last year because everybody at the office had an attitude towards smoking.

I've started doing coke and it's actually been a cheaper and more satisfying habit.

  • Whatta classy time to have been an adult in this country back in the 50's...when it was filled with normal, well dressed, polite smokers, that knew how to dance.

  • WOW...... My aunt was just telling me about the cigarette commercials.......

  • good thing we don't have tobacco comercials here in canada :)

  • The good old days when they were still sponsoring cigarettes...

  • "Gunsmoke. (music) Brought to you by PALL MALL cigarettes. PALL MALL--outstanding and they ARE mild."

  • The American Tobacco Company logo's "Indian" used to scare the heck outta me when I was a kid. Did it scare me enough not to begin smokin' later on? Nope. The prospect of cancer and the higher ciggie taxes prompted me to quit.

  • That Danny Thomas ad made me think, Thanks to these commercials many families didn't have to make room for daddy, ecause daddy had died a horrilbe death from lung cancer after suffering for years from empysema.

  • SOLD...........AMERICAN!

  • do they have herbert tarrey...blaaa in europe?

  • American Tobacco Company, making one cigarette, and many cases of cancer at a time. And not to mention beating the communist with cigarettes is American pride. Keep Smoking America!!!

  • ATC went under in the mid-90's, I think it was...Brown & Williamson acquired their brands (as PM), but then a few years ago RJR bought out B&W. Just a little history LOL but more importantly QUIT KILLING YOURSELVES WITH THESE CANCER STICKS!! I used to dip snuff but QUIT. You can, too.

  • They are anything but mild and you get tobacco in your mouth when you smoke them

  • And, they are mild.

Lol. That made me fall out of my chair laughing for some reason.

  • Outstanding.............And they are mild! Haha I lole Malls!

  • that is the best commercial i have ever seen. i am going out to buy a carton of Herbert Tareyton's.

  • Good luck finding Tareytons...they're still made, but rather sporadically available. Many stores (at least down in FL) don't carry them anymore..may need to special-order. But better yet, just QUIT SMOKING!!

  • I thought you're supposed to smoke AFTER you have sex....

  • This brings back memories. It was one of the first commercials I heard on TV. The audio is clear and the picture quality is excellent on this. Good show!

  • "Greater length is only half the story" ROFLMAO!!!!

  • I'll be damned, I've always known and heard Pall Mall cigarettes pronounced as "Paul Maul". They should still air commercials like this. :)

  • @Adrenaline923 I always thought they were pronounced Paul Maul too.

  • awesome. look how they used to sell you tobbaco. now you've gotta pay mother fuckers. by that time they knew cigarretes killed people but they didn't care

  • Awesome vid.

  • American Tobacco (usually for Pall Mall) co-sponsored "MAKE ROOM FOR DADDY" during its original ABC run [1953-'57; Chrysler's Dodge division was the alternate sponsor]. Ernest Chappell was Pall Mall's perennial announcer during those years.
