You shouldn't forget the Sega Dreamcast verson... It was the same as the PC :D , even the playability was great (the joystick was designed perfectly, and the graphics were amazing :D )
The shotgun sounds in Quake were awful, agree otherwise about the great sound effefcts, really enjoy this series and have followed your reviews over the past few years.
Nice look back on Quake... For such an innovative game, it certainly hasn't aged well... I was a little worried that you were going to overlook Team Fortress but I see you plan on dedicating an entire episode to it
The zombies sound like my sleeping dad XD.. and the best "Trap" is when you hit a switch, ceiling comes down and you thing "okay, i lost.." and then right above you the ceiling opens and you got lifted up to the exit..
I have to say, this game looks amazing and I might want to give it another try.
I remember back in the day, the N64 version of Quake gave me terrible motion sickness and I just never picked up any game in the series again until Quake Live.
Another excellent video! Though you seem to have skipped Heretic and Hexen. They brought innovation to the genre despite having the same engine as Doom. Inventory, ambient sound, heavy scripting and hubbed levels being the main ones.
I remember qtest coming out and playing it on my overclocked 486 150MHz machine, and then getting the shareware CD at Best Buy for 1 penny later on. I found it overall to be a fun game, but it still just wasn't as fun as Doom was to me.
The levels had awesome design and atmosphere (especially the Medieval styled ones), enemies were savage, weapons had awesome sounds and the music was amazing.

Your pronounciation of gib scares and confuses me, I always thought that it was a hard g, not a j-sound (like Grand, not Gem).
