I haven't tried for a bagpipe sound but you might want to try this patch and add a little distortion. When dialing in this patch I stumbled on all kinds of sound that reminded me of something other than guitar!

hi amazing preset,i think in buy this preamp but the version u uses is the fx or the fx ultra?the fx has effects? or only the ultra version ...please ansewer my questions thx and amazing job

You'll need the Ultra for this patch to work. The standard has plenty of effects but not the synth block this patch is based on.

Brilliant!! Because of this very clip, I have decided that I need to get the Ultra over the Axe-Fx Standard. I want to accompany my son, who plays classical piano and this violin tone is EXACTLY what I would do for that! Thanks for creating this!

To those referring to guitar synths...the axefx is NOT a guitar synth like VG99 or the roland guitar synths. You do not need a hex pickup like the GKs. It's just an FX processor/preamp that happens to have a synth block that can be triggered by envelope and input pitch. Check it out.

I am not the biggest fan of guitar synth stuff simply because a lot of it isn't usable, for my tastes, but this sound is totally something else, very usable and musical

Actually I don't use synth sounds much either, but thought this would be fun for violin parts on appropriate songs, intros etc.

However a few guys on the forum have gotten really carried away an come up with some excellent musical pieces using this patch an others that really show it's potential.

Basically, tweaked the Axes synth block an used a custom IR from an acoustic guitar.

I've put the patch up at Fractal Audios forum, where you can download an try it out for yourself.
