Zhang San Feng first trained at Shaolin. He became a top master of snake style & Crane style. This is where the legend of his dream of a snake fighting a crane comes from. Only after he left Shaolin did he go on to develop his own style which was the root of TaiJi Quan that was developed many years later.
@qilin4 I think you are mistaken. Real shaolin martial arts are all from masters from all over China. Shaolin is the place where these masters leave their arts in the temple in order for their martial arts to be pass down. Shaolin is from Tang dynasty, however, Tai chi is mostly based on Taoism theory, Shaolin's is based on buddhism, so it is not possible for Shaolin to have connection with Zhang San Feng. Do read more about it. China has proved it already
Hi there, I realy like this guys tai ji, I think he's got fantasctic ji beng gong(basics) very smooth movements, great timing, good all round peng and its elusive, may I ask if you know this guys name and where you got the video from? nice one
wow look at all these computor master with there know-it-all comments..this is wudang TJC not yang chen wu or whatva u'll say his form is 2 fast or not connected or wuteva!? since itz a independent style maybe the principles are differnt from da the others. eva thought of that? he pobbly doin it the correct way 4 his style...lol
Thank you, brother (or sister, gender is also invisible here in the digital world, no offense if I guessed wrong)
Chang San Feng himself as well as many other renowned masters first trained in Shaolin, then graduated to Taiji. Sifu Kuo, Lien-Ying is another example- he even said "It is better first to have, then not to have." In other words, learning a form and structure first then letting go of it. If you have nothing, what can you let go of?
I'm sure that if he did this video at a relaxed pace, it wouldn't fit on youtube. Now it looks as if he can kick some serious butt with a blink of his eyes :)
He is so tense in his movements. His knee jerks. His foot stomps. His wave pours. His kicks are interesting but it seems like he was trained in northern shaolin.
obviously you have not met anyone who trained in Kung fu or taijiquan, because MUCH MORE power is transmitted when one is relaxed. Tensing muscles only serves to trap power inside your own body- even my old Shaolin Five Animals/Choy Li Fut instructor knew this
It is very easy to use words like Yi, but I want to see you post a video showing your skill and then maybe you'll have a right to judge others. Yi is not a visible force, so how are you measuring his from your chair in front of a screen?

@Indra420 I am sorry, Zhang San Feng is not from Shaolin, it has already been proved. In the movie the fact is being twisted, he is not from Shaolin

This guy has no power to his movements- too fast, not enough Yi movement generation.
