I was a wildland fire fighter for years. I look at the scars I have on my body from the days of my time spent. I stitched up my wounds with my med kit and many other fire fighters. I'm now 51 years old and wish I could have kept fighting fires in the wild. My heart and soul was there and still to this day. I gave it all up for the woman that I truly loved. She left me 7 years ago, but I have two great children that see many of my photos. They must think deep in side I was crazy then.
Can someone please make an awesome "texas wildfire tribute" montoge / video with Pat green "nightmare as the song??? it would be so good... for all the people living through this nightmare...just like in the song :) thanks..if you do please let me know!!! give me a lil cred for the idea..jk
II Chronicles 7:13-14, "If I shut up heaven that there be no rain... If My people which are called by My name shall humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." Forgive us that we have cursed Your name so much both in public schools and on tv and at home. Please have mercy and forgive us. Send rain today Oh Lord. In Jesus Name
@OBAMAWOLF Thank You if you get a chance check out my other Video "Welcome to our office" and let me know what you think it is another tribute to wildland fire fighters:
good to see that there are people out there that respect our job and our life i know when i go to school students always have to comment on my green nomex i guess they just don't understand the difficulty and the risks "the fun part" of our job
I start training for wildland in June and I cant wait I tried structure fire training and I didnt really like it. So being a guy who loves the outdoors I figured Id do this. June 19th of 2010 is when I start I cant wait.
thanks for the vid i was just on the big sur fire in cali and i like to see some people admire the unknown heros. well ill see u out their ground pounders finding them hot and leavin them wet oklahoma chickasaw wildland firefighter out
I've been out there many times and one thing i know is no matter what, your worst enemy is your best friend. when it comes to this, all things put aside. we fight together.
being a wildland firefighter is the best career choice i ever made. i started fighting fire since 2002 to 2006. thoses were the best years of my life, sadly i had to end it... i miss it everday... they don't call us smoke eaters for nothing... Navajo Scouts!!!!!
I started in 1995 and am still Kicking Ash and Taking Flames as the Saying goes. Not sure I could do anything else after doing this for 15 years and still got another 10 to go :-)
Funny thing, that song was big in 2000 and it always reminds me of when I led a cadre of firefighters that took a battalion of the 101st Airborne to fight fires in Montana's Bitterroot Valley. That was one of the highlights of my 32 years fighting wildfire 2000 was an ass-kicker season.
I'd love to tip a brew with you brother and swap stories. I was a structure firefighter and thought I would give wildland a shot. During the into to the first class to get the red card they played "Fire on the Mountian" by the Marshall Tucker Band and I knew I was in the right place.
bless the men and women who risk there lives and come together to fight the blazing fire the most valued and respected group of soldiers to even walk this earth they're not fighting people theyre fighting wildland fires many go out knowing well the risks involved in these battles across the nations glad when ther come back home with heavy hearts remembering the times give them the strength, the knowlege, the endurance they need to continue the fight of wild fires may they return home again safe.
damn...i dont even feel like a real firefighter. Not compared to those here. My rookie year was somewhat mop up for the first two fires. our team was rookie, we were from job corps. we went on the 9 mile ridge, than the little thompson. from there we went to the black cat fire. i cant wait to get back out on the lines and earn the right to be called a wild land firefighter. Maybe ill catch ya guys there. love the vid by the way. seems i have some big shoes to fill, too bad im so old. 22 xD.
Never to old I'm 49 and still doing this and did not start till I was 35. Just listen to what the experienced guys have to say and NEVER get complacent, even the most experienced get bitten at times
my roockie year was the best. mussigbrod complex fire, wisdom montana 2000. my first fire was one the biggest in history, talk about a crash course in firefighting
yeah nick, I heard about that heli crash it was grayback forestry that was involved. I was working with them that same week on a different fire in monument, OR, at the lightning complex. My hardhat goes off to all true groundpounders
I just got back from Junction City (Iron Complex) on Monday. What a devastating couple weeks for all the personnel assigned to that incident. This is my first year as a FF. Between the Helo crash and Andrew Palmers accident I know I will be very careful. Keep our thoughts and prayers going for the families.
Well this is an awsome video. Kryptonite and Every Day Super Hero are my favorite songs. Ive probably met you somewhere since im one of the Jr firefighters with the DAM VFD yea Im one of those Dam Boys. well like i said keep up the good work and let me know when you get the next video done.
Hey awesome vid!!! my friend and I are 18 and we have been explorers at the local fire dept. in Oregon for three years, and found out we just got accepted for seasonal wildland firefighting in the Dalles, Oregon this summer. I am sooo stoked!
Will do. That's what I keep hearing, that it's crazy hard work and really an amazing experience. I go to take the pack test on May 24th, then I will be official.
WOW. Amazing video. I had the privilege of working off an engine crew in Oregon last summer. It was the best summer job ever. Wish I saw more fire and could do it again. Keep up with the great vids.
Great job on the video Bro from someone that's been there and back. I remember going to the first class to get my "red card" and the into music was "Fire on the Mountian" by the Marshall Tucker Band and I knew I was in the right place. Spent the next 8 years on the Inyo and Cleveland Heli-tac crew. Nothing like going to a fire in a helo. On the Inyo we were the first season that they did rapelling. Best memories of my life!! Flank it, spank it, cash your check and bank it!!!
Thank you I spent a year working on it getting the right picture with the right part of the music. Had a computer crash when it was almost done and lost everything and had to start over again.
To all Wildland firefighters and those that know them; I am stating work on my next project and need your help. I plan to do a tribute to Wildland Firefighters that have fallen in the line of duty. I need pictures of the fallen. If you have a picture of a team member lost please e-mail me at rjadams@homemail(DOT)com with the subject like Fallen Brothers. Please send this to all the Wildland firefighters you know.
