I like the idea of ABM,but what I've heard from the originators is that alot of ABM sounds fake.Thats because we took a movement,and copied it exactly without trying to do our own thing. Any good black metal band has some kind of original feel to their sound. sweden and norway is filled with copy cats. some of the sounds I hear on this vid makes me very interested in american bands. maybe I´ll find something to rediscover the genre after 10 years of scandinavien drought. I don´t think there is any reason to think bm is better if it´s from norway or sweden. the US is very diverse when it comes to the arts

i think i will allways prefer scandinavian/european black metal because of the whole atmosphere and background. but i must say that there is some really good american black metal bands as well, Absu is one of my favourites.

Black Metal is a music genre. It can't be just SCANDINAVIAN even though I'm of Finnish descent.
Indians can have Black Metal, Japanese can, Africans can, even Antarcticans can. It's just a genre it's not Nationality BS.

I love Norwegian black metal, but it pisses me off when they say US black metal bands are "copy cats". That's BS. Ok so does that mean European death metal bands are copy cats since death metal originated in the states? I love 1349, they started in 1997, but you might as well call them copy cats because of black metal before them, if you have that philosophy. It's all about expressing the art. No matter where you are from.

@baxter609 think the reason for that might be (with risk of being beheaded) us bands are not that uniqe and tend to over do it sometimes in my opinion.. You see If 1349 were american or swedish for that matter they prob wouldn´t got any attention, but now their norwegian.. and everybody can trust norwegian black metal right? =) .,I have to say though that one of my favourite bands are from the states.. VON ..they inspired the black metal scene in scandinacia in mid 90´s

@baxter609 I agree w/ you in a sense. I think most new bands are *copycats*. These usbm bands and other bands from other countries are *copycats* in my eyes. I say these bc they look EXACTLY like the original black metal bands. I mean okay wearing corpse paint is acceptable. But they use the same stances, the exact same clothes, similar designs of corpse paint, they use giant axes like them, they even apparently love the forest like the originals. They got to realize they will never be Dead.

@baxter609 USBM is a copy cat of European Black Metal. European Black Metal was influenced by American Death which was a copy cat of European Thrash Metal which was copied from American Heavy Metal which was a rip off of European Hard Rock which originated from American Rock n' Roll which came from Europe. It's like a pingpong ball across the Atlantic, who gives a shit?

@baxter609 I agree. It should not matter where a band is from. I used to think that usbm was a copy cat but then a friend steered me in the direction of Black Witchery, Xasthur and several others and I soon changed my mind about that and realized that there are bands here in the States that are burning the flame for black art and I'd like to see more usbm bands come out.
