@serndippity In China, people blow off fireworks, in order to signal to nature that they need food for summer, because the desert and mountains throughout evolution there were never friendly to food production at all. In the Middle East, people go to the Muslim Temple to pray for crops to grow, because again, in evolution, the desert wasn't too friendly to the people there. In Europe, they used their brains to get things to grow. Beliefs were only discipline, not how to get things to grow.

@serndippity The U.S. is 500 years ahead of the world in almost everything they do - their thinking processes, their logic, their brain power. Think about what was going on in Europe in the 1600's in music. If your kid new how to play piano or play another musical instrument beautifully, they would become successful in life, so everybody wanted to be Bach. Having skills in music is important in China today, because they are just now catching on to it. In the U.S., it won't get you status.
