Both my mother and father consider themselves feminists. Of course there are women who hate men, but there are also men who hate women. My close friend's father was murdered by his wife, and people jumped to conclusions, saying she must have been beaten, abused, etc. and that wasn't the case at all. She's still awaiting trial, and the sentence may not be nearly as harsh for her as it should be. If I hear people enforcing double standards like this, I call them on it.

Of the issues that women have in the west the only one I can think of(that is real and not made up) is that in some places they can't go topless while men can. Other than that it seems like they have the upper hand at nearly every age and in nearly every instance.

As for women's disadvantages...we are much more likely to be assaulted, raped, murdered, etc. That's a pretty big deal. I can't see how that could be made up. As of now, we do get paid about 23% less for the same work, on average. If you have evidence that this is a false statistic, I'd be curious to hear it.

About rape, the best statistics available seem to point to the fact that more rapes are committed against men than women in the USA. Most people (including me) don't see the economy as a battle of the sexes. However, the fact that it was written in a biased way made it harder to take seriously. For example "feminists feel awkward protesting a liberal dominated government." I like to see articles that are more objective.
@KgirlHasTheWits Look up consad wage gap. Why does it matter how or by who a person is killed? If I am killed with a knife by my mother am I less dead than if I am killed with a gun by my friend? Also, no you wouldn't be more likely to be attacked in a dark alley. This is pretty much proven by the fact that men are also more likely to be the victim of violent theft than women are.

@TheFenceandtheJug I think the wage/unemployment gaps have many explanations, and no, I don't think it's all discrimination. As for the murder, I should rephrase what I said earlier. Women are more likely to be killed by spouses and boyfriends, and if it came down to you or I walking alone on an urban street at night (which I would never do!) I would be more likely to be attacked or killed. A large number of male victims are involved in gangs, and such murders are usually committed by other men.

@TheFenceandtheJug Actually, the acceptance of rape jokes is fairly new. Comedy Central would not have aired Tosh.O's rape-saturated humor 15 years ago. It remains to be seen how this new culture will affect the next generation. My guess is that it will have quite devastating ramifications in the future and the result will be that society as a whole will not regard rape to be as serious as it once was (and should be) regarded. I think its more 1 in 15 women are raped and 1 in 2 women are sexually assaulted in some manner I find it hard to think of a female that has not been sexually assaulted (which most of which are elderly) in some way but saying that i come from a rough area When I say sexually assaulted this may include: Unwanted groping. The statistics of violence against women are so one-sided it's ridiculous. Having been a police officer for many years I can tell you that the domestic violence I responded to was about 50/50 but the males rarely pressed charges.

Her attitude was snide and was cruel she didn't take into account my side of the story and basically when I tried to tell her she talked to me as if I didn't understand women and that since I was a man I was mentally defficent as to how my behaviors would affect woman.

Another thing I'd like to point out is the simple truth about feminism. If women are supposed to be equally intelligent and capable as men then why do they need feminism? Men don't need feminism but women do. So women sort of shoot themselves in the foot when they claim they are feminists. It's basically like saying, "Hey, I have to cheat to succeed". The truth is, while feminism raises women up, it holds men back. If women were truly equal to men then they wouldn't need feminism as a crutch.
@goldmanacus - This is a discussion about gender. But if it was a discussion about race then I would say that the white race has been the most successful race in the world and the most giving. So comparisons could be drawn up based on that. Whites obviously paved the way to racial superiority to the place that every other race today has to feed off the scraps of success that whites allow them to have. My close friend's father was murdered by his wife, and people jumped to conclusions, saying she must have been beaten, abused, etc. and that wasn't the case at all. She's still awaiting trial, and the sentence may not be nearly as harsh for her as it should be. If I hear people enforcing double standards like this, I call them on it.

Of the issues that women have in the west the only one I can think of(that is real and not made up) is that in some places they can't go topless while men can. Other than that it seems like they have the upper hand at nearly every age and in nearly every instance.

As for women's disadvantages...we are much more likely to be assaulted, raped, murdered, etc. That's a pretty big deal. I can't see how that could be made up. As of now, we do get paid about 23% less for the same work, on average. If you have evidence that this is a false statistic, I'd be curious to hear it.

Most people (including me) don't see the economy as a battle of the sexes. However, the fact that it was written in a biased way made it harder to take seriously. @TheFenceandtheJug I think the wage/unemployment gaps have many explanations, and no, I don't think it's all discrimination. As for the murder, I should rephrase what I said earlier. Women are more likely to be killed by spouses and boyfriends, and if it came down to you or I walking alone on an urban street at night (which I would never do!) I would be more likely to be attacked or killed. A large number of male victims are involved in gangs, and such murders are usually committed by other men.

@TheFenceandtheJug Actually, the acceptance of rape jokes is fairly new. Comedy Central would not have aired Tosh.O's rape-saturated humor 15 years ago. It remains to be seen how this new culture will affect the next generation. My guess is that it will have quite devastating ramifications in the future and the result will be that society as a whole will not regard rape to be as serious as it once was (and should be) regarded. Jokes, by definition, make it more accepted and lighthearted.

I think its more 1 in 15 women are raped and 1 in 2 women are sexually assaulted in some manner I find it hard to think of a female that has not been sexually assaulted (which most of which are elderly) in some way but saying that i come from a rough area When I say sexually assaulted this may include: Unwanted groping. OK, but have you ever stopped to think that maybe a lot of men don't report violence against them committed by women? I certainly think that's plausible. The statistics of violence against women are so one-sided it's ridiculous. Having been a police officer for many years I can tell you that the domestic violence I responded to was about 50/50 but the males rarely pressed charges.

Another thing I'd like to point out is the simple truth about feminism. If women are supposed to be equally intelligent and capable as men then why do they need feminism? Men don't need feminism but women do. So women sort of shoot themselves in the foot when they claim they are feminists. It's basically like saying, "Hey, I have to cheat to succeed". Coming from law school, I know a lot of female high potentials. When they are 15-18 all they want to be is sluts (girl power!). Then they want a career(19-35) but still fuck around. No guy is ever good enough.
Then she hears the clock ticking, grap some lonely high salary man, just to get kids. Because these kids have "destroyed" her career, she blames the man, divorces and tries to "find herself".... Ergo: Most women need men to control them, because they have no self control.

Lorena Bobbit chopped off her husband's penis while he was sleeping because she SUSPECTED he'd been cheating on her. She then later claimed that he raped her and abused her. He was acquitted of all her accusations however. But women EVERYWHERE were high-5ing each other and laughing in the faces of men who were mortified a woman would do such a thing. When Jack the Ripper was gutting women, men did not laugh at women or view Jack as a hero. Yet, women view Lorena Bobbit as a hero and a celeb.

I can't imagine a man would get off so easily if he did something comparable to a woman's genitalia. And the Lorena Bobbit incident spawned up several other cases where women have brutally attacked men in the groin. Look up Bridgette Harris who copycatted Lorena Bobbit on her own father and then COOKED HIS PENIS on the stove. In extreme agony, he died by choking on a towel she gagged him with

Feminists view Lorena Bobbit as a symbol of female empowerment. Why? Simple. She's the symbol of male destruction. She chopped off her husband's penis because it's the symbol of manhood. She then carried that manhood in just one feminine hand until she bored of it and through out her car window into a field. Women heard this story and thought, "That's all it takes to destroy a man" and laughed. Today, Lorena is successful and pretty and John is sort of broken looking and unkempt. Sad

@MissTeetowl - He was found innocent in a court of law because there was no evidence of rape. She was on the other hand found to be mentality fucked up so it's not hard to imagine that she fabricated up a lie about being raped to cover her own crime of mutilating her husband. I think she THOUGHT he was cheating on her and she THOUGHT her actions were justified. Sadly, most women seem to agree with her actions and that to me shows that feminism has created a hatred towards males in the world.

@MissTeetowl - Feminism is just man-hatred these days and that's leading to a breakdown in the relationships of men and women alike and our future together looks very dismal at best. While women WERE oppressed it's quite obvious that today men ARE oppressed. We all need to go back to the drawing board and learn to get along once again. I've never agreed with feminists that pushed for gender competition. In a competition there has to be a loser and neither gender wants to be the "loser".

@MissTeetowl - Those men don't speak for ALL men. I prefer traditional gender roles because they ARE progressive and wholesome. There are thousands of years for me to point at to prove they work and are progressive. Neutralizing gender roles and creating a genderless society may seem like feminist utopia but it's not been proven to work nearly as well as traditional gender roles. Divorce rates being a prime example and the constant arguing between men and women today compared to long ago.

@NautyKnight Its never been done a "Genderless society" so how would you know if it be for better or for worse? and personally if you rewind in time and went back to traditional gender roles I think you would find that you would not enjoy it... back in the ages where kid boys were not allowed to cry, The arguing between men and women dint happen because if it did the women got beat up and/or raped by her husband. @MissTeetowl - It's not about being better or worse. It's the fact that traditional gender roles have worked and do work to progress society. We are were we're at today because of them. The only reason why women want them changed today is because they are seeking power and control. Why would I care about crying? Males today still don't cry much. Feminists want to blame men for oppressing other men from crying but the truth is - males just aren't emotional beings and don't cry much.

@MissTeetowl - A genderless society seems way to stagnant to me. I've always thought that feminism has strong ties to homosexuality (both men and women). Surely a society in which opposite genders don't view each other sexually (because feminists claim it's objectifying of women) will bode well for homosexuality. If a man can not view a woman for sexual purposes (lust for her) then how is that going to be good for women? It's not unless she's gay and doesn't want male attention.

More women are beat up and raped TODAY compared to women from the past by far. Read some of the letters men and women wrote to each other back during the US Civil War. Things were a lot more "civilized" during the US Civil War (1861-1865) than they are today. Today the western world is divulged in sin. Tons of porn, tons of violence, tons of divorce, tons of rape, tons of beatings, tons of adultery. Today... Progressive? Yeah right. We were better off in 1861 than today.

@MissTeetowl - Rape has never been legal. Back in the day if a man raped another man's wife or child he'd KILL the rapist. That's BETTER for women than going through the legal channels and it prevented rape from being common in the first place. Besides, rape is not about sex. It's about power and control and power and control is something very few women had in the 1800s so rape was very uncommon. Today, with feminism and power and control for women - rape is more common. Feminism hurts women!
