How do I know that Isaiah 53 is not about jesus? Simple, because the servant will Justify many by his KNOWLEDGE, the claim of christianity is that he justified many by his BLOOD. Actually, Israel is referred to in the singular BEFORE Isaiah 53 and in tons of other places. My best advice is to read the entire Bible (not just the nt) and not just read the so called prophecies that christians say is referring to jesus. It's widely commonly known that most christians don't even bother reading the Bible, so don't fall into the trap by choosing to be ignorant. Stay true to the request of the authors of the nt and prove weather or not jesus should be believed

And the single character in Isaiah 53 is suddenly described in the plural in verse 8, but of course Christian translations make it singular in their translations.

Even if this text does not talk about Jesus Messiahs, it is still a very interesting peace of document.

They divided the TNK into chapters in order to not only make it more navigable or whatever other legitimate purposes they had, but also to modify its meaning to be more supportive of their religion, as the case of Isiah 53 demonstrates. If you're correct, what makes Judaism good? What do Jews believe that is objectively good? The quotes of TNK in the "NT" Are used similarly in Talmud. In that one word is used to reference an idea. It's not a crystal ball magic prophecy "fulfillment" . It's passages that convey a point. When "Isaiah" is quoted it's in reference to a similar situation. Just like today when we say "Rachel weeping" literally Jeremiah was referring to a different time but it fits. If someone makes outlandish claims then it's up to you to investigate if you want to know the truth.

i have a KJV and Isaiah 53 uses the pronoun He. are you saying that the "he" is referring to the nation of Israel. I thought in a few other place it was refered to as a she and that it is God's wife. why would he refer to it as a he if he also refers to the nation as his wife. just trying to understand!

Ok, Yeshua/Jesus means YHWH saves. In Isaiah how many times can you see there YHWH saves. Jesus is YHWH saves. Also, I carefully read Chapter 53 with a more direct to hebrew translation, and to me it seems.. that this particular chapter is more personal than a people, for even people is mentioned on the verse. the only way to be save is to have faith that YHWH saves. Yeshua is YHWH who saves.
Yeshua' just means salvation, from the Hebrew word yeshu'a (salvation / deliverance). It does not mean YHWH saves. The name Yehoshua' (Joshua) means YHWH saves.
BOTH of the name Yeshua' and Yehoshua' are applied to multiple individuals in the Bible. If Jesus' name makes him G-d, perhaps Joshua bin Nun is also G-d, heaven forbid.

Sorry but your theology is flawed. Isaiah 53:3 says "He was despised and forsaken of men, A MAN of sorrows..." . Let's look at the "forsaken of men"...that means He was in the same class as men...in the same group...you might say as men go He was forsaken...a MAN of sorrows. It's not important who the messiah is, so the scriptures don't say "THIS IS THE MESSIAH," but what will be accomplished in fulfillment of prophecy is important. Chapters like Isaiah 11, describe future times clearly by language, same as ezekiel 37 onwards, and Jeremiah 31. The actual person of the messiah is fairly unimportant.

How do I know that Isaiah 53 is not about jesus? Simple, because the servant will Justify many by his KNOWLEDGE, the claim of christianity is that he justified many by his BLOOD. One of these things is NOT the same in any way shape or form, and being that the nt gets this WRONG, I simply choose that which is correct. Since the Bible details forgiveness WITHOUT blood atonement, the nt falls flat on it's face and it's silly to consider that grace when we can have forgiveness without blood.

Actually, Israel is referred to in the singular BEFORE Isaiah 53 and in tons of other places. My best advice is to read the entire Bible (not just the nt) and not just read the so called prophecies that christians say is referring to jesus. It's widely commonly known that most christians don't even bother reading the Bible, so don't fall into the trap by choosing to be ignorant. Stay true to the request of the authors of the nt and prove weather or not jesus should be believed

And the single character in Isaiah 53 is suddenly described in the plural in verse 8, but of course Christian translations make it singular in their translations.

Hm... Not messianic! Isaiah 53 I think is pointing to Israel. Isaiah 41:8-9; 44:1-2, 21; 45:4; 48:20; 49:3 shows that the prophet identifies Israel as the servant. Chapter 53 repeates this fact by providing a historic overview of the tragedies and triumphs of the servant, Israel, throughout its history. Even if this text does not talk about Jesus Messiahs, it is still a very interesting peace of document.

The Christians are the ones who divided the TNK into chapters. Isiah 53 starts in the middle of a paragraph (and in the middle of a prophecy). They divided the TNK into chapters in order to not only make it more navigable or whatever other legitimate purposes they had, but also to modify its meaning to be more supportive of their religion, as the case of Isiah 53 demonstrates. Of course, they also misquote and mistranslate, or interpret things so they contradict their plain and obvious meaning.

If you're correct, what makes Judaism good? What do Jews believe that is objectively good? To me it's either a diabolism, or an incoherent national cult, with no end except the molestation of the peoples of the world, and the securing of a particular geographic region. What does any of this have to to with virtue, blessedness, and immortality? Had you not been a Christian, you would never have converted to Judaism in the first place.

The quotes of TNK in the "NT" Are used similarly in Talmud. In that one word is used to reference an idea. It's not a crystal ball magic prophecy "fulfillment" . It's passages that convey a point. When "Isaiah" is quoted it's in reference to a similar situation. Just like today when we say "Rachel weeping" literally Jeremiah was referring to a different time but it fits. If someone makes outlandish claims then it's up to you to investigate if you want to know the truth.

A Jew never sees any reference to Jesus in the Torah (and will never see). A Christian will never read Isaiah without "inferring" referrences to Jesus in it. So, it is a totally fruitless debate whether Isaiah refers to Jesus or not. As a Jew, I find it disrespectful when a Christian tries to convince me Jesus was the messiah, therefore I never try to convince a Christian that he is not. Mutual tolerence and respect, I call it. i have a KJV and Isaiah 53 uses the pronoun He. are you saying that the "he" is referring to the nation of Israel. I thought in a few other place it was refered to as a she and that it is God's wife. why would he refer to it as a he if he also refers to the nation as his wife. just trying to understand!

And when have Israelites not said a word when oppressed or afflicted? I believe Isaiah is addressing Israel in the first part of 53 for he uses the pronoun "we". Why is Isaiah not using the same pronoun throughout? Why doesn't Isaiah write, "We had no form or majesty that we should look at us"?

Youtube is a great place for people of all different backgrounds to voice an opinion of what they think. However, not all of them have the credentials to prove anything. My Jewish friend that I know was brought to believe Jesus is the Messiah by exactly the same verses you declare as proof he is not. Now the difference between you and my friend is the extent to which he searched for this conculsion of his. He is Louis S. Lapides, M.DIV, TH.M. My guy knows for sure Jesus is the Messiah.

modern christianity has nothing to do with their doctrine, the new testament cleary says yahu'shua is the word made flesh and not the almighty and to keep all of the commandments. Yahu'shua saying the only way to the father is through him means through the word of Yah, the small parts that som1 can confuse yahu'shua for the almighty can be corrected with noticing translation errors, like john 1:1...we know if it was written by hebrews which it was the word god would be plural.

The main reason that I left was 'Judgement' only G-d can judge, no man can jusdge. When a preacher tells me I'm a sinner how does he know? Why has the christian church divided the one G-d into three? Why did we have to pay to a man who died? Why could we not go right to the one G-d.

Ok, Yeshua/Jesus means YHWH saves. In Isaiah how many times can you see there YHWH saves. Jesus is YHWH saves. Also, I carefully read Chapter 53 with a more direct to hebrew translation, and to me it seems.. that this particular chapter is more personal than a people, for even people is mentioned on the verse. the only way to be save is to have faith that YHWH saves. Yeshua is YHWH who saves.

Yeshua' just means salvation, from the Hebrew word yeshu'a (salvation / deliverance). It does not mean YHWH saves. The name Yehoshua' (Joshua) means YHWH saves.
BOTH of the name Yeshua' and Yehoshua' are applied to multiple individuals in the Bible. If Jesus' name makes him G-d, perhaps Joshua bin Nun is also G-d, heaven forbid.

Rather than pulling apart proof texts and prophecies in the Tanach, pray that God will lead you into the truth about Jesus. You have to open your heart to Him. The N.T. itself says that Jews would go to the ends of the earth to make even one convert to the faith of Israel. It was only due to the 2,000 years of harsh persecution, first under Christians and then under Muslims, that Jews have ceased sharing their faith - UNLESS individuals come and ask that we share our faith. During most of the past 2,000 years both Christians & Muslims would kill a Jew for sharing his Torah-faith.

Isaiah 53 prophecies are documented as happening to YaHUshua. Isaiah 53:7 = Acts 8:32; Isaiah 53:9 = 1 Peter 2:22 etc..
This 'jesus' of 38 THOUSAND christian denomination divisions (1 Cor 1:10-13, 3:3-5) is NOT presented as guarding ALL the Torah nor does this 'jesus' of the mormons, jw's or in the muslim koran.

@squilz69 I don't think Christians try to avoid the Tanach at all. OT and NT are both the Word of God. I studied Theology at University for five years and what was my subject? Old Testament language and literature, not the New Testament. So I guess you can't say this particular Christian avoids the Torah! Jesus fulfilled so many Messianic prophecies that it is difficult to understand why Jews reject Him, but even this was prophesied and is part of God's plan of salvation.

@4Romans8 Jesus and His disciples were circumcised, kept the Sabbath and the Festivals because they were Jews! You pick out verses to prove this, yet reject other verses that suggest that Jesus has fulfilled the Law and the Prophets. You either have to accept the whole of the NT or reject it all. You can't pick and choose what you wish to believe. What you are really saying is that you accept Jesus is the Messiah, but for the Jews only.

@sarahj35 Please read Matt 5:17-20 slowly and the dictionary states 'fulfilled' means "to perform or do, as duty; obey or follow, as commands." The true Messiah exampled for ALL the guarding of ALL the commands like the Sabbath (Mark 2:23-28) and spoke of it's existence in the future (Matt 24:20). After His ascension Jews, Gentiles & Greeks guarded the Sabbath (Acts 13:42-44, 18:4). Do you think Matt 19:17; John 15:10; 1 John 2:3-7,3:3-7,22; 5:2,3; 2 John 6; Rev 14:12, 22:14 is only for Jews? :)

It never says in the Torah that only the sinless can atone. It DOES, however, say to the contrary, that the wicked can atone. Check out this video:

@bentucky42 I think if you actually study the origins of the NT you will find it is very improbable that is factual. VERY. It seems to take stories from pagan cultures and took Jewish teachings and distorted them. I am sure you are a great person but I study Judaism (I am Jewish) and have looked at Xtianity. I cannot believe the Xtians teachings. I am sorry but they simply are not reliable and in many cases, Xtians have "written" jesus into the Torah when he simply is not there.

@ukchristian28 It was translated wrong. What I signed was "Christianity mixed with the stories of the pagan cultures the followers went and preached to. Over time, the melded together. I didn't mean Christianity was based on pagan cultures or beliefs. I really wish people could learn to understand me. I also should have had the screen reader read what was written (I usually do) but I didn't. I got her to write "Xtian" but not write what I tried to say. Sorry dude.

I don't know if your title is serious, but if it is, I had the exact same experience. Once I realized this chapter was about Israel, it turned everything around in my beliefs and I returned to Judaism.

@moddie84 Yeah, he is being serious. I have seen most of his videos and he converted to Judaism from Christianity (he wasn't born Jewish, or at least that is what the videos led me to understand). This chapter may also be leading me out of Christianity as well...Just need to sift through it all and make sense of it.

Also if you threw away your Messiah did you ever really know Him to start with? His "knowledge" does justify the many...for example He said "I AM the Way the Truth and the Life and no one comes to the Father but by Me." If you dont know that you may try some other way that only ends in death.. i.e. Islam,Buddhism, Judaism without Messiah.... He also said you must be born again to enter God's Kingdom...that only comes through Messiah not nitpicking to find a altenate meaning to the Scriptures

Sorry but your theology is flawed. Isaiah 53:3 says "He was despised and forsaken of men, A MAN of sorrows..." . Let's look at the "forsaken of men"...that means He was in the same class as men...in the same group...you might say as men go He was forsaken...a MAN of sorrows. It can't get any plainer than that...the Scripture is talking about a man. Also... the passage does not say that the punishment was poured out on the many [Israel] but one...even saying "He will bear their iniquities."

On the one hand it believes Israël to be Islamic,
Mozes and even David (Dawud) are seen by moslems as moslems, not jews.

@creationcenterTV that's not entirely true. the verses that involve the messiah clearly state what the messiah is to accomplish. It's not important who the messiah is, so the scriptures don't say "THIS IS THE MESSIAH," but what will be accomplished in fulfillment of prophecy is important. Chapters like Isaiah 11, describe future times clearly by language, same as ezekiel 37 onwards, and Jeremiah 31. The actual person of the messiah is fairly unimportant.

Well hes saying Isaiah 53 never mentions that this is the Messiah, Im turning the question and saying where does Isaiah 11 say it is the Messiah? If this was so cut and clear we wouldnt even be arguing about this.
But i definitely believe those prophecies (Isaiah 11 etc.) including Isaiah 53 etc. The Messiah (Jesus) first came in His Priesthood to make atonement for Israel and the world and later He will rule over the globe in His kingdom.

Even in chap 52 and 54, it is clearly speaking about Israel, so why would you think 53 is any different? Also throughout Isaiah it refers to Israel in the singular and the plural, even in Isaiah 53, it says that the transgressions of the nations were on them(the suffering servant). Why would they call Jesus a them? Doesn't really make any sense. I urge you to read Isaiah 40-61,ull see its israel

No, the servant is not plural in the Hebrew. Your objection is an old one which has been answered before. Let me quote to you the words of Dr. Michael Brown(who is a near eastern language expert):
