I think it is not fair enough to use the word mediocre no doubt Talat has extra ordinary talent. But he has the ringing voice which cannot suit to all type of songs. I think every music director has given talat a great chance and he had proved and live forever
Talat is just too good. Every body else sound pedestrian compared to Talat. His voice and style cannot be copied. The music composers of Talat's era were either tone deaf or very mediocre, as they gave him to sing only about 900 songs between 1944 and 1976. I wish they had given him ten thousand songs during that period. Indian music was robbed by these mediocre music composers, as they did not realize Talat's talent and make full use of it. I am left with only 900 great songs. What a tragedy?

This lovely song from 'Sangdil' was composed by Sajjad Hussein.
Don't try to compare this song with 'Akhri Dao's 'Tuze Kya Sunaoo meein dilruba', composed by Madan Mohan about 8 years later!
