  • I'm 14 and I love this show! I watch it when I get time. And for all those Ernie fans out there, Ernie will return in season 42, performed by good ol' Steve Whitmire!

  • Great video. I loved this song as a kid. Does anyone have the full song and upload it please? It's actually really beautiful.

  • What a nice sketch to present Steve Whitmire's first time as of performing Ernie!

  • What's the name of this song, and does anyone have the full version of it they can upload please?

  • Faces That I Love.

  • I can do Ernie's voice really well and fro Bert I think of Fozzie Bear

  • I don't think this was the exact first new Ernie appearance since Henson's death. That same year (1993), Ernie sang "I Don't Want to Live on the Moon" with Aaron Neville, but they recycled the original 1978 Henson voice track for it.

  • But wait a minute, Can someone upload "Celebrating around the world" on Sesame Street, please?

  • me three

  • Yeah.. no. Kids still enjoy the Muppets and Sesame Street. They may not be the same as they used to be.. but neither are the kids.

  • no way. Jim Henson lives inside all the Muppet & Sesame Street characters

  • Ack! This is from the "Around the Corner" era!

  • What was the "Around the Corner" era? I don't remember that.

  • It was from 1993 to 1998. They added a new location to the set with a dance center, a hotel for Muppets, a place called "Finders Key-Pers," a park and who knows what else? They tried to make the show "cool" and "hip" during that period, too. They introduced tons of new characters like the Squirrelles, Sherry Netherland, Benny Rabbit, etc. The episodes started with this crazy Calypso opening sequence, and when they'd rerun classic skits they added goofy new sound FX and music to them.

  • Ah...

    Thanks for the info.

  • Yup,90's is when everything changed all because of Jim Hensons death. They didn't add sound effecrs or music to ALL the classic clips though.Like they didn't add splattering sound effects when "Wet Paint" was being shown in the 90's.

  • People bashed that Around the Corner thing in the 1990s as the people today bash about the new format on current "Sesame Street," but it isn't so bad in the more recent seasons (2005-present)

  • could some1 PLEASE upload the rest of this special??

  • Steve's Ernie is a lot higher in pitch, and he doesn't have nearly as much comic timing. Jim all the way (R.I.P)

  • guys this sesame street new yaer special episode

  • at the end of the special i mean

  • was this at the end of it?

  • yes it is from that special. and could some1 please upload the rest of the special

  • Can you post the whole song please?

  • Ditto. I wanna hear the whole thing.

  • I agree...

  • JIM Does it better.

  • Was this from that 1993 New Years special? That would have been (I think) when they first revived Ernie.

  • Steve doesn't sound like Ernie at all. Jim's was so much better...

  • its steve whitmires first appearance as ernie

  • Pretty sure that wasn't the first Ernie skit... that looks fairly recent.

  • Funny 1989
