Topamax can cause cognitive problems, as you noted.
I imagine the problem with glaucoma is uncommon, but I would still be aware of it.
I am not a fan of these drugs, however, if someone loses 40 lbs or 80 lbs or 140 lbs, then the person has to decide for themselves if the benefits outweigh the risks.

Maybe according to a warning from the FDA as shown below.
"A syndrome consisting of acute myopia associated with secondary angle closure glaucoma has been reported in patients receiving TOPAMAX.
"Symptoms include acute onset of decreased visual acuity and/or ocular pain.
"... Symptoms typically occur within 1 month of initiating TOPAMAX therapy.
"... The primary treatment to reverse symptoms is discontinuation of TOPAMAX as rapidly as possible." (FDA)
