Most humans want to be rich and powerful and the current system "PROMISE" to give them that, a "CHANCE" to horde wealth and power for oneself, even though in reality, only a small percentage of people can get rich and powerful.

How do you prevent these cities turning into nightmarish dictatorships or oligarchies. There is no scientific method to allocate resources you know. There will always be someone pushing the buttons. Its great, but lets say we did manage to rid ourselves of our current system, why not make use of the cities, trains, cars, planes and tech we already have? Eventually we could start making perfect cities and things, but as we were doing that we could still have new york without money. @themightyjoseph I think he's looking at a global population of, say 20 billion - it's not living space that would be the problem, it would be that arable land to feed everyone would be at such a premium that it would make sense to move off it into unproductive areas, like the ocean. There always has to be a leader. If he's a bad one to a majority of people he is overthrown, sometimes. After he is fob he will be replaced by another. If there's a time when everyone is equal, either people will fight and start to build nations once again, or somebody is gonna decide he wants to be in control, and he'll take a majority and others will rise against him. But of course, they will need a leader to fight him....

@3rdWorldGame He is not rich. I visited Venus recently for 1 week and they live quite modestly. They work all day-> every day with no leisure. Roxanne is amazing at the amount of things she does on a daily basis. They have 1 compact car for three people. They eat very basic foods and their kitchen can barely fit 2 people. The bathroom has room for 1. They shower outside. The bedroom is 3 feet wider than a double bed. I understand your point of view but please come and see for yourself

OK clearly it's not the system that is flawed but the persons who have implemented the system. With the correct chance scenario and leadership, this system could be possible. Before, I stumbled upon Project Venus I was working myself on a similar design; however, I believe my design has overcome some of the integral issues presenting themselves in the Venus Project design outline.

Eventually we could start making perfect cities and things, but as we were doing that we could still have new york without money. I've watched Moving Forward and This Venus Project says same things about resource based economy, abolition of private property and centralisation of bureaucracy as Stalinism, five-year plans for the national economy of the Soviet Union, which killed 40 millions people in Ukraine and Russia and same solutions as Red Khmers managements in Cambodia, which killed 1/4 of Nation. Jacques is a great engineer but he knows so little about history and economics. You cannot engineer wealth. Engineering can tell you 'how' to do something but it cannot tell you 'what' to do - what projects to do and when and so on. Only market interactions create wealth. Jacques has tried to jolt life back into communism. He won't let the altruist morality die but knows that it kill sand leads to suffering. He thinks he can engineer his way out of it. Sad waste of talent.

You must also understand that we have equal potential to do good in comparison to do bad. What has been demonstrated is our worst side that grows in a profit-based economy. And its true that till now, the more predatorian thoughts have prove some sort of evolutive advantage for the specie, and that has turned bad for the environment. But if somehow we could manage to breed a next generation, disconnected of our failed patterns of behaviour. Somehow manage to educated them free of our core dogmas, where savage consumism and capitalism rule and substain current societites!

Humans have different meanings for things because they have different levels of knowledge about the Truth. If they knew all the Truth, then they would have the same meaning for things, as the Truth is One.

I agree on getting rid of religion and war, but the idea of having a society without money, work and laws is just plain stupid.
What are people gonna do in a circular city like that (ugly and boring as it looks) anyway? Just randomly hang out with folks? And talk about or do what? I don't know about you guys, but I have intrests, passions and dreams in my life. For example, I'm very much into classic cars (so are almost all of my friends). How could I possibly get a place in that society?

Hell the BRIC are gonna outpace the western world and why: Because they are investing in creating a stable middle class of citizens who can afford to improve the next generations lives. @sirmercutio99 Nations such as Germany and others have far better tech and lower unemployment. than the US or others because even thier conservative govts know it's stupid to destroy the middle class in the name of a few. Also renewables DON'T have to be land based- we can create off-shore platforms like we use in oil rigs out in the ocean not to mention Geothermal, tidal and hydroelectric. Problem is they don't make enough profit for these SOB'S so they don't invest in them.
