sadly i cant use products with silica in it. It clogs my pores. Most primers have silica in them. I tried the monistat, and it broke me out.

@Norex25 The product she is talking about is the chafing gel. Monistat is the same brand but the chafing gel is not used for yeast infections. You can find it at Walmart with the other Monistat products.

no, for the eyelids try the Urban Decay Primer Potion, or any other eyelid primer...the Monistat gel may work, but perhaps not as well as a thicker eyelid-only primer meant to help adhere eyeshadow and not foundation...

@shennie87 i ordered a primer from coastal scents since it had so many great reviews, ppl said its like Urban decay's primer. they have one in a matte finish and one in a shimmer finish. I have yet to receive it but you can go ahead and look up reviews for it on makeup alley .com it's $9.95 in USD btw

You can use any brand, but I would check the ingredients. I don't know what's in Lanacane's Chafing Gel...it may include other chemicals/properties that would not be as "neutral" as Monistat's. Compare ingredients just to be sure. :-)

Too many ingredients to irritate skin and cause break outs. I like Sheer Miracle's Extreme CloseUp HD Mineral Finishing Powder as a primer. Its identical to MUFE HD Microfinish Powder but much cheaper. You can get it on Amazon or Sheer Miracle's website.

if you're embarrassed with the bottle of monistat, then squeeze out all of it into an empty jar or another tube. i used my empty vaseline jar and since it's clear, it pretty much looks like vaseline too!

I have combo skin as well and have found all primers to be pretty neutral...I don't break out and they don't dry out my skin either.

I have been in the Cosmetics Industry my entire work life, I absolutely LOVE Monistat Chafing Gel. I have yet to find another primer that does does any more than this one can except come in brand labeled 'cute' packaging. Thank you for this thorough review! =c)

I wouldn't use Monistat as an eye primer. I would stick with UDPP or TF Shadow insurance. I have tried it and other face primers as an eye primer but they don't work as well. UDPP and TFSI both say they MAY CONTAIN Titanium Dioxide(SPF), and Bismuth oxychloride (irritant to some people) and both contain preservatives, but monistat doesn't.

I agree with Mimaw and Tormenta...use the Monistat as a face primer and stick to eye-specific primers like UDPP for your eyeshadow bases.  :-)

It's not 25 cents/oz. That would mean you are getting the whole tube for 38 cents. It's actually $4.03/oz, which is still really good. So $4.03 for the first oz and $2.02 for the next 1/2 oz. I think I paid about $5.50/tube at Wal mart. Other primers may contain SPF, which monistat doesn't, but your foundation probably does.

It would only make you break out if most primers cause you to break out... the ingredients are the same, and if anything, Monistat is the most neutral as it doesn't contain any SPF or moisturizing properties.
