hey guys, get your spelling right! it's PANUNTUKAN, the root word of which is SUNTOK (punch).
people insisting on misspelling it as 'panantukan' should know that it doesn't mean anything in the philippines except sound like a mangled version of the word 'ANTOK' which means SLEEPY! = )
this is real, im a filipino and this stuff works...in the streets people often throw one beat at a time, using this method, you would be a beat faster than the opponent therefore you can hit the opponent twice as fast as he is hitting you...you can knock the guy out even before he can throw the second punch.
They dont seem to be putting much into it, just playing around maybe, for anyone intersted in the goju ryu version of this, type in "sanseiru bunkai practise" by garylever
Panantukan (also called Sandokan) is strongly influenced by Wing Chun and Chi Sao. It is highly popular in Taiwan, were it is part of the curriculum of some primary schools. An adult practioneer can kill with one strike, wich is the ultimate aim of all martial art in the east.
@gonorrhoeheliumgirl kill with one strike, eh? lol k. in all seriousness, it's taught along with kali/eskrima/arnis for when you drop your weapon or don't have one at hand. not sure where this killing with one strike nonsense came from. and it's closer to boxing and muay thai than kung fu. anyone else notice how people try to say that chi sao influences every single martial art on the planet? =P
I think all of the analysis' of mexicancocksucker07's comment have some truth. It's interesting how many people are turning back to boxing after decades of oriental martialists disparaging it as limited. Where they wrong? Sorta. While boxing is limited to hands, it is very aggressive and useful for finishes and range bridging. Any art, I believe, can be deadly if an individual is willing to be realistic and find out what works and how he can improve it. It's personal, not systemic.

you can't use that technique in actual fighting. In fact, I know one guy who had second dan blackbelter & he was robbed by the 3 bad guys & the blackbelter guy can't use his martial art skills, he sustained stabbed wound in his stomach & he had lots of bruises. The 3 bad guys successfully stole his money. I think boxing its better in actual streets fight...
3 people versus one guy? And with knives? I think boxers would be pretty hard pressed too! Martial arts doesn't equal unbeatable, I bet your friend would have been able to handle one maybe two (if he trained right).
The guy that you know probably got his black belt from a McDojo. This empty hand technique from FMA practitioners are used WAY back during the first Filipinos in the Island. And remember back then, all of their weapons are edge weapons and they formulated the techniques that we practice until now to defend themselves and their love ones.
You know, I don't think theres a lot of influence... Panantukan was developed long before there was this Wing Chun hype. These drills are quite different than Chi Sao (Energy flow etc), it only looks alike. But: The same Problems develope similar answers... in the end the outcome is all that matters.
its good if you can combine both techniques in your arsenal as a mixed martial artist.this along with muay thai kickboxing.can be very effective in a street fight.its always good to learn more then 1 art and like i said when combined it can be very effecitive
correct me if im wrong but i think thats the wrong distance, cuz its too far away, you strech your ellbow fully and the fist wouldnt even touch your opponents face. though its only a drill or exercise, i would use another distance...and i see no real punching intention to the head.
I kept it at a bone-based structure for antone else to add to because like a clean sheet of paper, you can sketch anything you want to add to it for as long as your timing makes the beat or not as long as it adds up to finishing.
It seems there is one too many moves in the bridging to strike. I don't want to come off the wrong way (this guy knows what the hell he's talking about), I just see that with speed and forward pressure one can eliminate the additional move to advance right to the opponent.
What you are missing is that the first strike up with the right hand is a destruction on the arm. Instead of raising the right hand with no strike as he does here you actually hit the arm. We train like this so as to not hurt your partner but we all know it is a hit on the first beat.
Could you post some instructional videos filmed inside so we can hear what you're saying. The background noise makes it difficult to distinguish what you're saying. Otherwise, you have excellent techniques.
FMA is not even 200 years old. and magellan was defeated by lapu-lapu because they're out numbered; 69 men against 1000. and you told me that i don't know philippine history?!! shame on you!!
4 moves I see:(1)parry with L (2)"salute" with R (3)pak-sau opp. elbow with L (4)Da with R! Good point about angling along (female)triangle! Clear instruction, Thanks...enjoy your videos.
all the FMA techniques can be traced back to chinese martial arts, especially the close fight techniques. sad to say that all of these are only arts. in a street fight these guys won't last 30 seconds against a ghetto fighter.
I disagree, 467kamagong. I'm not on about these guys particularly, What I'm on about is someone with actual fight experience from each 'culture', the Martial Artist would win hands down. Also, by fight experience I mean real fighting.
I study WC, first thing I thought was pak-tan-pak (3 count). I don't like the idea they're implementing using a raising arm with a fist, I feel much safer with a Tan sau, as it makes sure there arm isn't as free to move.
that is a disgrace bro... kamagong? and you trace all FMA techniques to China?? you don't know Filipino History. ghetto fighter?? i don't think you know what the hell you're taliking about.

ghetto fighters are the best fighters wether you
like it or not. i have never met a martial arts
pratitioner in a man to man combat and the reason
for that is they are afraid. they're only good in
showing off.

you don't know what you're talking about. i think
you have to review your history. indonesians can't
fight. and ghetto fighters are the most combat
fighters in the world. they're afraid of nobody
unlike the FMA'ers, they're only brave when they are many. lol

He uses WC terms but it is an FMA drill. Wing Chun has it too, and since its from JKD/Inosanto it is a blend. But this is more FMA then WC.
