Now this is not set in stone, a matter of fact after this past Aussie open will be a big defining factor in Feds career to see if he has finally fallen out of his prime. If Fed has indeed been "dethroned", and Rafa's knee's are healthy, Rafa will sweep every major without a doubt, leaving the title of g.o.a.t, only a matter of time for Rafa. If Feds just hit a rough patch well, he is still King for now,

I wasn't silly enough to bet money on Federer to win the 2008 Wimbledon final[if my memory serves me well enough], but I really wanted Federer to win that. Watching this, I at least know that Federer certainly didn't throw the match or anything like that. I did put $20.00 [Australian] on Federer at short odds to win the 2009 Wimbledon final - a bet I thought I'd lost - and very,very nearly lost.

Exactly. The bar keeps on getting raised, although its plateauing out about now. Federer and Nadal have raised it so high its no wonder that the commentators have orgasms when they see someone play better than those two. The only difference between great players is how great of a mark they leave. You can never tell how long in between generations it takes for the bar to be raised. In our case, Sampras, Agassi, Federer, Nadal. Very quickly. Perhaps there is a trend, or just a spike.

Yeah, i'm glad Nadal came along, i was getting sick of all the GOAT nonsense! Having said that, Federer is absolutely one of the tennis greats, no doubt about it.
I love Nadal as much as the next person, but don't crown him yet either. We have a habit of building people up, so we can tear them down, and i don't want that for Nadal.
No matter what happens, we know that Federer can't be the greatest player of all time, because he couldn't beat Nadal, in his prime! And for that, i thank Nadal.

I really think such a big champion as Federer should also know how to lose, just like he knows how to win an important match. Unfortunately he is not quite able to cope with that. Though I don't agree that he's the greatest of all time, I definitely go for Sampras there, he had very fierce competition during his years of playing and was way more popular than Fed.

I think if Mac could have just kept on talking normally about the game and not kept on about how sorry he was and how he felt Roger might have held it to gether easier. Im sure he didnt do it on purpose.
Roger contracted glandular fever end of last year and continued to play which he should not have done. This hindered his recovery, it can take months if not weeks. Its a bitch. Now Roger is on the road to recovery I have no doubt he will be back with all guns firing.
