In one The Art of Dramatic Writing, which you recommended, Lajos Egri repeatedly states that it's very important that you have a premise. Have you developed one by the time that you start writing down these ideas or do you draw one from them afterwards?
that's an interesting idea, but I have had the same animation program for a couple years now and I still can't figure it out... I'd like to know an easy one to use and how to use it :3
I use notebooks all the time to brainstorm. I like to throw my stuff on a timeline as well to organize the structure once I've got a few good scenes in mind.

i just bought a notebook for just dumping ideas into i have a plot idea in there
I've got like 4 characters
and 2 names for the movie...
i'm just gonna buy like a mega sketch book for when i get to story boarding
i'm gunna need another notebook for scripting though the one for ideas is only 120 pages
