Man, this is the kind of stuff that got me into rock music in the first place. Back in the day when I didn't listen to any music and my aunt used to record episodes of "G-Rock" and "Real Videos" for me and stuff like this is the reason I got into rock in the first place. MAN, this song is nostalgic.

I was a christian for 15 years. And of course I will listen to what anyone has to say, but i've already restled with these issues in my mind for years and put them to bed a long time ago. Maybe a closed mind is not required for Christianity, but its certainly prevalent. Christianity is predicated upon the idea that one must first accept the truth without question and then find the supporting evidence. That to me is quintessential closed-mindedness.

Actually you should research the truth, many atheist have come to Christ that way, yes there is faith involved but God won't be offended if you question and seek, How old are you?

I have and I do research the truth. I would argue that the majority of the atheists who convert after reading the bible or through other means of seeking the supposed "truth" of christianity probably put very little thought into becoming an atheist. All of the atheists I know were christians at one point in time before researching the truth and then subsequently deconverting. I spent many years seeking and asking. I'm 25, and yourself?

@johngeetar , I am 35, So when you were 10yrs old you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and for 15yrs you lived for Christ reading your bible surrounding your self and fellowshipping with other Christian's as well as having a regular prayer life, you then decided that it was false and denounced Christ and in turn greaved the Holy Spirit which is the unforgiveable sin according to the bible. I was born again when I was 5. I am the son of a preacher and grew up doing all of the things you listed. I will concede that its possible for the god of the bible to be real, as well as many other gods. I simply find it highly improbable given the fact that his attributes logically contradict each other. I also find it improbable that a loving god would torture me infinitely for a finite life of sin. For a god so big on forgiveness, he has missed his own mark.

It's somewhat similar to taking a child into a toy store and telling him he can pick any toy he wants but if he doesn't pick the lego set he will be punched in the face non stop for the duration of his life.  The more I look at this twisted justice system that god has supposedly set up, the more I wonder how I ever believed it was truth. If the god of infinite agape love sees fit to torture me forever for seeking truth, so be it.

Look we can go back and forth on the issue but here's the bottom line, you know this discession you have made and you know about the consequence's there are for that choice. Yes God is loving but He is also just, so if He said those who choose not to accept the gift of HIS SON's death for our sake they will be seperated from HIM for eternity even thought "it is not His will that any should parish" then that's what is going to be or else HE would be a liar. I know what you are telling me the consequences are. However, just because the bible says so doesn't make it true. The bible was democratically assembled by fallible men who decided what was and wasn't divinely inspired. I fail to see the love in eternal torture. That's not love, that's hate. So if you want to continue to worship an evil bloodthirsty misogynistic tyrant who tortures anyone who is too rational to believe a silly storybook, more power too you. Count me out.

I hope the same for you. I remember having a lot of doubts about mid high school. I was always asking a lot of questions and I never got sufficient answers. I was always told to pray about it and meditate on the bible, which I did regularly. After years of this I began to realize that it wasn't me that wasn't seeking hard enough. More and more doubts arose and I finally accepted that it was ok not to believe.

Omniscience and omnipotence. For a variety of reasons. If God knows what will happen, he is powerless to change it. And of course the ever so classic "Can God make a rock so big he can't lift it?". Or according to Homer Simpson, "Can God microwave a burrito so hot he can't eat it?" Of course we could say that God doesn't live in our realm and isn't subject to our logic. Fine, but we begin to approach a God which is indistinguishable from no God at all.

How can we even pretend to ascribe any sort of attributes to describe the ontology of a being we ourselves can't even fathom? The bible at its best simply anthropomorphizes God rather weakly. And as I've stated before, omnibenevolence isn't easily reconcilable with the doctrine of hell.
