On the LD BABIP from 2007 - I don't have any swings that old. However, 1 yr sliced by hit type results in a small data set and has more variability. To separate "true playing level" from "noise", I tend to use a mosaic approach and all the pieces seem to fit back in 2007 - i.e. isolated power, HR/FB rate, etc. were all solid. Also, note he hit 5 LDs out which, had those hit the wall, his BABIP would have been higher. So IMO, 2007 was "noise" but 2011 is not due to the swing changes.
Ah; I think that not being able to compare an earlier swing does hurt in trying to explain the LD performance because it would either confirm or deny the connection between the two. Either way, it's still a very good job at analysis!
Thanks. I think he certainly has the ability based on his old swing and stats he posted. Whether he will or not is tough to say. He was either guided to make changes that are taking him in the wrong direction (i.e. "you've got to be quicker to the ball with your hands") or the changes have been unintentional and just not picked up by him or his coaches. If the latter, odds are probably better..... if they can get it figured out.
because hes a very very very bad hitter SIMPLE!!!!

Great analysis! You think he has a chance of rebounding/correcting these issues for 2012?
