Ya know ... we need the youth to bring the revolution - of hard, heavy rock back! I dont mean AC / DC though they are cool in there own wite, but the bands of MEANING - start Beatlish and move to Uriah Heap, Deep Purple, even flippin Mott the Hoople... Then Sabbath, and then spend "30 Days in The Hole... etc.
New to youtube.. what a treasure. Your looking at the first album I ever bought. Wore this thing out and bought another. I still have the second. What a great band in a time when rock like this was damn near new. Sit back, fire up, enjoy.
Well, Maybe if Mark didn't demand 50% of the profits in the 1998 tour they would have been. They had great shot in 99 but they were already broken up. Plus the new band is much better.
@neezledoo I think when people hear the name Grand Funk Railroad, they think only of "We're an american band", "The Locomotion" and "She's some kind of wonderful" which have nothing to do with their whole career (like "Twist and Shout" has nothing to do with the Beatles' career). How do you promote again the Red Album from 1969 by GFR? How do you make that magic reappear? I mean it won't happen again if something big happens for them.
@neezledoo I hear you , they got to make room for abba and Madonna , . . .wtf???? thier not even american , these boys are , . . . I know them , Im also from Michigan , and lived 20 miles from Marc
You're right, Mark is a great singer. The stuff he does at the end of "Miss My Baby," oh man. Musically by '75 (Born To Die), Mark, Don, Mel & Craig were creating really sophisticated hard rock. Mark and Tommy Bolin are my fave rock guitarists. I dig the Gibson Mark used on the '75 world tour. I know he likes Parkers now, but I love the sound of the Gibson.
Yeah, the first time I heard Bolin was Deep Purple's "Come Taste the Band." A great guitarist with such style and sophistication. And what a presence on stage!
i checked out what you recommended and yes, you are certainly correct. it's just that in this recorded version, i hear farner doing the screaming, and not brewer...but now i don't know what to make of it. must be mostly brewer, if not all.
Perhaps this is already obvious to most, but on the live Caught in the Act, Don does all the lead vocals. It sounds like Mark does the chorus part on the studio, however. I love this album track, but I sorta cringe when Mark does the screaming part. Don was always so good at that.
Awesome song. I like the "Caught in the act LIVE" version better but, what the hell....Thanks for the studio version. I lost my 200+ album collection in an eviction last year and have been redeemed by the grace of folks like you and you tube. Many Thanks!
Oh yeah, some of the best rock and roll ever!!!
