Common Sense dictates that the government cannot spend more than it takes in forever. If they print more money it will cause inflation and devalue savings and pensions. If they raise taxes any higher it will reduce revenue due to the Laffer curve effect as we are already well into the prohibitive range. The only logical course is to massively cut spending across the board. A simple common sense solution to a tough problem is to just vote conservative.

Socialist institutions aren't all bad. Obviously America has been better off since the creation of a social education system, but that's not the problem. I have no problem paying taxes for something that I can see the benefits in. But when my tax dollars go to something that I don't think is of good use of those dollars, or especially when I don't even know where my taxes are going, then I have a problem. The federal government is obviously incompetent if stuff like this is happening.
@indocake Education, fire police and most roads are State entities. State Governments are much smaller and easier to keep in check. Also the people get to vote on local and state funding for these entities. We have absolutely no say in federal government decisions. Everytime the government tries to do something like this, it's been a disaster (social security, medicare, etc). It becomes inefficient and eventually bankrupt. They do need to tweek regulation, but not take it over. I believe health care is a privilege, not a right...just like car insurance (you must pay to drive, you must pay to have healthcare).

Free market solutions work for other industries, but it doesn't work for healthcare. In fact, it's one of the reasons why healthcare is so expensive. Driven by business, doctors purposefully administer more tests, screenings, medicine, and operations than necessary knowing that they will make more money off of their patients. And the worst part is that unlike buying a car, the patient has no expertise or judgement to know what's right for himself.
@PraetorADV Well, free market system is why we have the best healthcare in the world. Healthcare is so expensive because of unwarranted lawsuits and regulation. I have no problem with the government taking steps to help control costs. I have friends who are doctors and they laugh when they hear that people say they do extra tests, screenings and other "stuff" that is not needed. Doctors are some of the hardest working and most honest people there are.

Common Sense dictates that the government cannot spend more than it takes in forever. If they print more money it will cause inflation and devalue savings and pensions. If they raise taxes any higher it will reduce revenue due to the Laffer curve effect as we are already well into the prohibitive range. The only logical course is to massively cut spending across the board. A simple common sense solution to a tough problem is to just vote conservative.

Socialist institutions aren't all bad. Obviously America has been better off since the creation of a social education system, but that's not the problem. I have no problem paying taxes for something that I can see the benefits in. But when my tax dollars go to something that I don't think is of good use of those dollars, or especially when I don't even know where my taxes are going, then I have a problem. The federal government is obviously incompetent if stuff like this is happening.

@indocake Education, fire police and most roads are State entities. State Governments are much smaller and easier to keep in check. Also the people get to vote on local and state funding for these entities. We have absolutely no say in federal government decisions. The federal government is way to big and has taken over state decisions which goes against our Constitution. We were never meant to be a central Government yet we are slowly becoming just that.

He has not a care in the world about what is happening in this country; only maintaining his celebrity status with Europe. If he cared, he would open his eyes and realize he is bankrupting this country and we are in the biggest pit of debt in this nation's history and he is worsening it with his backwards policies that will kill jobs and bring this country down to European mediocrity.

And the fact is that 45000 out of the 50 million are dying each year because they can't afford health care. Those people need affordable health care, and the only way to do that is by integrating a universal health care system. America is the only place in the western world where its citizens aren't covered, and it's time for change.

@CaptEm1 I agree that i's hard to determine who is lazy and who is not. I do agree that something needs to be done to the healthcare system to make it more affordable. I just think the current healthcare bill is a disaster. I wished they would have taken a step-by-step approach to the problem instead of doing it all at once. I also believe the private sector would do a MUCH better job than government. The government seems to do a poor job on issues like this.

@camanners The problem with a step-by-step approach though is that it's often slow and unrewarding, and it would probably never lead to much at all, certainly not for the 50 million. Small improvements sure, but full coverage for everyone? Doubtful. We just can't afford to lose 45k people every year, it's not ethical. And the private sector is all about money, so you can't rely on them to fix anything.

@CaptEm1 There are going to be more than 45k (not sure where you get this number) people dying each year because of a gov run program. Everytime the government tries to do something like this, it's been a disaster (social security, medicare, etc). It becomes inefficient and eventually bankrupt. They do need to tweek regulation, but not take it over. I believe health care is a privilege, not a right...just like car insurance (you must pay to drive, you must pay to have healthcare).

There are programs already set up to help the people that simply can't afford it. Free market solutions work for other industries, but it doesn't work for healthcare. In fact, it's one of the reasons why healthcare is so expensive. Driven by business, doctors purposefully administer more tests, screenings, medicine, and operations than necessary knowing that they will make more money off of their patients. And the worst part is that unlike buying a car, the patient has no expertise or judgement to know what's right for himself.

I have no problem with the government taking steps to help control costs. I have friends who are doctors and they laugh when they hear that people say they do extra tests, screenings and other "stuff" that is not needed. Doctors are some of the hardest working and most honest people there are.

In USA we have lots of free health care even for those who come in across the border, in cargo containers, boats from cuba or haiti etc. Free Hospitals for children, shriners and ST.Judes. free clinics/hospitals and Gov/VET Hospitals, no hospital can refuse emergency treatments. Prisoners get free health care. The poor have medicaid, and there is also medicare. Obama wants Private Insurance companies to be part of Government.
