He doesn't want universal health care. He just wants to lower the price of drugs and offer medicare to the 40,000,000 uninsured via a certificate system that will gauge how much you're health issues cost annually per year. It's simple and it'll work. Just like all his other plans. Just common sense.
I do prefer some kind of universal health care though, although his system does seem practical. It's much more "available" to the common person, than the other so called choiced brought by the other candidates. I think what is great is that his current plans for healthcare may be just the tip of the iceberg. Once our economy stabilizes and the war is over, education is up, maybe he'll adopt one of the european healthcare models like the ones in UK, France, Finland, etc.
Direct democracy does work, in my country of switzerland, people had a really say in atom power etc. so why not in america? If america is going to continue its rule as a global superpower then why not look at the rest of the globe?
Oh man, thanks for commenting. I really want to hear opinions of folks from other countries on some of these issues and on Gravel, in particular. I DD can work if the public is responsible and informed. One of the things that really gets me about Gravel is that he wants to make sure that the US government won't hide information from the public. This will help us all make informed decisions.
i called and left a message in their general mailbox. Now im gonna email these bastards. And the only reason they don't want Gravel in the debate is because he would cut through the main stream candidate's B.S. and force them to take strong or clear positions on certain issues, like about gay marriage n shit, and you know they would rather have a B.S. answer without having someone there to expose their hipocracy.

Hillary has like $60 million and is the second most senator sponsored by the insurance industry....
Obama is nearing the $60 million mark too. I don't thank all of that comes from Oprah.
Mike Gravel gets money from real Americans, not Coroporations and lobbyists!
