@2610ksj On a two-stroke you loose power, on a four-stroke there will maybe be some problems with the exhaust valve in some cases because it may be constructed to have some resistance from the exhaust and some little power losses, but no big problem there.
In any case there is no problem running it a few rounds without exhaust.
@2610ksj No of course not if it is only for a short period, I've done that myself (also on a 2 stroke, the exhaust fell off once !! So I had to drive home without one. That was a pretty noise experience.
But as you say, it is not good for the exhaust valve as there has to be some resistance from an exhaust pipe.
@estes97thegr8 Well I did not try it out, but I think youre mixing up two-stroke and four-stroke here. In two-stroke engines the exhaust does matter. In four-stroke-engines the difference will be somewhat around a few percent. Considering a motor of 3,5hp, this is literally nothing.
@creazypoll Yes I can recommend it. It is 5 years old now and has run 16.000km, also in winter and still everything - except some minor problems with the kick-start - works perfectly good! Also the fuel consumption is very low (2,5l/100km). And this all for a price around 1200€ for the new vehicle. (which is very cheap here in central europe)
@jonepomuk i can't explain youi becouse i'm not english and i dont know how tell you but....the cylinder will ruin..will broke....especialy on 2stoke...but youre is 4 so...watherver don;'t do it
@rapady26 mhm... On a 2-Stroke the motor will have much less power, because it needs the exhaust pipe for the resonance of the exhaust gas. This is why racing exhausts make 2strokes faster. But there should not be any effect to the motor in general. However you have to be careful not to melt some plastics with the hot exhaust gases.
lol.. The only thing with the lights is.. Your engine might start later / slower because they use power. Since the starter needs most power they might take it away from it.. but its ok
No, lol. The lights go off when the motor is turned off, they are directly connected to the generator, not the battery ;) Only the horn and the turn indicators work without motor.
O.O AWESOME

Are you trying to turn it into a Harley Davidson here?
Anyway, running without an exhaust is bad for both a 2 stroke and 4 stroke.

Yeah, abesAre is right. Always when start up a motor, lights should be in off position. After motor is on, then turn light on.
moonrainx 2 years ago
Why?
jonepomuk 2 years ago
Because you can't (sometimes) start your engine, if your lamps are on.
Your lamps will take energy away...
And at one time, you're out of energy, and you're scoot won't start...
(sorry for my REALLY bad english :$, dutch heh? :D)

no dumbass, thats not possible these days anymore, they go on as soon as the engine starts
