Accidents happen, and it appears these guys/handlers did an excellent job showing off their horses and did an excellent job containing the situation. You can see the horses are well cared for an well trained - there is no abuse. Also there is nothing wrong with showing a 6 horse hitch at a canter...accidents can happen at the walk and trot too. I think the handlers and horses should be praised for their excellent team work despite the misstep.
Hey, I was there. It was really scary to see, but the owners knew what to do. The horse was fine afterwards. He got up and walked away. I've seen them do it successfully before, and they were beautiful. Sometimes accidents happen, but thankfuly the crew was out there quick and nobody got hurt. Had they not know how to calm the animals down like they did, it could have been bad, but the horses were fine!
they were fine the one that did it was new to the team it was his first show and he made a mistake the horse didnt know anybetter relax they were fine. i was there and he is still performing and they havent had any more accidents like this
same here I was really close when they fell I heard a big thunder sound when he fell and my dad said that he saw the bar thing drop whitch made the horse fall
I was there too. it gives me chills when i see it. i was with my 2 friends adn we were almost crying! a bunch of people were crying it was scary good thing there ok!
OMG! i go to these every once in a while and saw them.... were the horses ok? like wat really happend???? like did one like fall and then it like took the other out and the others just kept running?
Thanks for the info! We didn't get to see the show Saturday, but after seeing the videos, we were concerned if the horses were O.K. Had no luck finding any news reports - I'm glad you let everyone know they are alright!
Every one involved in a hitch like this one know the dangers, yes even the horses!! and they all have had a tumble or two getting to the caliber that Jason and his team are, but it was Handled as best as possible by very professional horsemen, HURAA!!! and glad to see them up and looking good!

Speaks volumes about how well trained they are that they halted and stood so well

Kind of funny. They do this all the time, but it's the one time they mess up that winds up everywhere.

I know the Prieferts, and they are extremely careful with their horses. I'm sure it was just a slip up on the part of the team.

Apart from to show off, there was no reason to take those horses out of a trot. The angle was far too tight, and look what happened.
Why do people constantly feel the need to the health and welfare of animals at risk?
