I've got one of these, it's an 05 bought it new, no upgrades and it cruises at 150mph. Not sure how you guys are getting 170 without a serious tail wind of 30 knots unless you changed your sprockets etc.
how come nobody beleave us when we tell them this bike will do 170mph plus i have the same bike and i have done it to i love my bike well safe riding and i will be making a video showing 170 so far my video is up 2 155 take care man
That bike could run at 12,000 RPM all day long. As long as you're not in the red, you're ok. In fact, this bike's power band peaks at very high rpms (google ZZR600 dyno specs).
This isn't a Harley--it's meant to produce the most power at the highest revs. Try it--it's a totally different bike in the upper revs (and you'll love it).
Yes...ZZR's will go over 150. Personally, I've had mine up to 170. Mind you, mine is completly stock other than a K&N and i had about a 5 mile straight. Good Luck with your ride. Ride safe.
WOW! I hope you don't mind me saying that a guy in his late 30's is never too old to ride some of the baddest bikes from kawasaki. You, sir, have 2 awesome bikes in your clutches. I like the nike footwear you were walking around in the video too.
haha FYI that won't do 180mph you can get maybe 150 stock but I wouldn't go that fast. I didn't know they sold ZZR 600 in the US all I have seen is the ZX6R. I like the 250 better :) I'm glad you love riding it's one of the best things on earth!!
Congrats on the new bike! They're a great machine and yes you'll be wearing that grin for a long time to come yet! But please tell me you don't ride in sandshoes. I had a mate who's shoe lace became fouled around the pegs which unfortunately resulted in him dropping his bike. Boots are a good idea. Anyway I look forward to the video you make of a ride on your zzr600.
Aww man I hope you enjoy your bike a lot. A friend of mine has one exactly like it. They are very nice bikes. That exact bike WAS Kawasakis ZX6R ama bike in 2000-2001. They sound awesome with a d&d slip/bolt on can. I don't know you but you seem like a down to earth guy and I like you already. Email me sometime, Gene19962ATyahoocom Good luck with her.
great video...I was wondering how long it took for you to get tired of the 250r before you upgraded? I have been looking at the 250r because i'm a novice rider, I'm interested in what you have to say!
i love the bike i got one myself living in canada i bought it in dec i have only put 15 kms on it. a couple of rides around the block in the freezing tempurature. so maybe about 7 miles lol.
Congrats on your bike mate... Luv the ZZR 600 to bits myself, even tho I dont *YET* own one :( There's a 92 ZX600D, bit scratched here and there, but running well... up for sale on ebay, but I guess I'll wait and go for a ZX600E... or, if I'm in luck, I might as well manage to save up for a ZZR 600 such as yer Rapture there. Take care with this beauty and don't forget to buy some proper equipment for you & the Kawi! Cheers;]
I'm riding a ZZR-250 right now and I'm also planning to go for a bigger zzr. I thought I'd do at least one year with it (2months). You have to rev it above 8000 before it pulls away from traffic. That's what I don't like. I want instant acceleration at any rpm. So I'm gonna find me some money in the forest or gonna make it on my job, wichever comes first and then I'll go for a test ride on a 600 and a 1100, we'll se if the 1100 scares me or not :)
Hey man, definetly congrats on the bike. Good choice. In about a month or so Im planning to treat myself to a new zzr 600. I am also a new rider. Your past ninja 250 vids are pretty sweet. Hope to see some more on your 600. Ride safe.
I'm about 6'3" also and mostly upper body. This puts quite a bit of pressure on my hands when riding which is bad for longer rides (which I prefer). I'm planning to install HeliBars handlebar risers at my 500mi tune up, which I'm told will significantly improve posture and riding comfort. They're about $199, plus installation, but I think that's well worth it. Except for that, I think it would fit you perfectly.
250 is very comfortable for a couple of hours, but (as with any sportbike) long periods in the same position can be hard on your body. I've ridden 5-6 hours on the 250, but broke it up with a few rests in between.
im also a mordeth subscriber and im looking to get a bike. im guessing the 250 would be appropiate but yeah, is 2100miles enough practice to move up? how do you feel you've improved in that time? sweet bike dude!
When I first bought the 250, I told myself I'd ride 5000 miles b4 moving up, but I made that milestone without any prior experience on a bike. I believe that after the MSF course, 2100 miles and a very strict attitude towards safety on the road, that I was prepared to move up.
I felt various levels of shakiness on the new bike for maybe 50-75 miles, but now, after over 200, it feels like a part of my body. I'm glad I made the jump. Thanks for watching!
Been waiting for another bike vid from you. I think the 250 was your first bike right? How many miles did you put on it before the jump to 600? btw nice bike.
Yes,like Kwakboy said, Congrats! Also glad to see you kept the 250.Don't hurt it's feelings by never giving it any attention :)Be careful on either one and watch for daydreaming cagers!Have fun

I think 170 is probably a stretch. I've been 158 and don't think I could've gotten 12 more mph out of it. Be careful trying!

i have the exact bike bought it w/1800 miles on it,i had mine up to 145@9500 rpm's.what is a safe rev. for this bike?

I'm aware it won't go 180. It was just an observation for dramatic effect. :) Oh, and, umm, it WILL do faster that 150, trust me.

This body style started as the 2000-2002 ZX-6R and in 2005+ I believe it became the zzr
