@MissDeweylover most likely because it's easier to get the milk out that way. they make sure they get a could portion of the milk by kneading it...that's what it looks like to me

@Poika99 Momma kitties have a little kitty language they talk to their kittens with. Body language is part of it. I was noticing this with a feral momcat when she was caring for her litter of kittens, which I socialized so they could be adopted. Much of the chirps moans, and modified meows are very quiet, many times I could see her talking to her kids but couldn't hear her. They have ears that pick up sound for miles, so there's no surprise that they are quiet when the communicate.

One of my favorite videos.All the kitties are cute.I'm curious why Hope wasn't put with your other bobcats.Would they accept her?

Would Hope remain close with her adopted domestic cat family if they grew up together until they are adults?

No other bobcats wouldn't have accepted her they are solitary cats and would of killed her, plus our ultimate goal was to release her back into the wild, which we did so there was no need to introduce her to other cats. :)

I'm a lover of bobcats also. It's really gratifying to see that Momma cat adopted her and that she had enough milk. Those 2 domestic kittens are pretty big to still be nursing.

No, bobcats are wild animals and shouldn't be pets.

Wild cat species will never make good pets, stick with domestic cats that have been domesticated for thousands of years.

NO, they don't make good pets. They will pee all over to mark their territory and will most likely destroy lots of furniture. Besides, bobcats are wild animals and they should remain wild.

such a joyful sight. I have personally witnessed adoption as well. My friend picked up an abandoned cat with its eyes still blue. It could not even be fed from a bottle and was starving to death. My cat just had 4 kittens at the time and I invited him over to see if my cat would accept his kitten. Sure enough, the mother cat took a good look at it then she let it crawl onto ner belly. It made me wonder if the story of Romulus and Remus might have been true after all.

maybe the mother cat does not know that it is not one of her own. I am not sure if cats remember their little ones since they are so many -does anyone know if cats can distinguish the babies that came from their own womb? are there any scientific answers? not speculations and logical thinking please...

If an animal feels the need to help another of the same species, most times they will.

Like ym male cat, he started bringing around another male kitten (which is very uncommon)

and would take his food and feed the young cat. The mother can distinguish that it is NOT one of her own because of the sent. Thats how the mother and the child tell each other apart from other cats and animals.

I think the mother felt the need to adopt and nurture the baby bob cat. :3
