@MissDeweylover most likely because it's easier to get the milk out that way. they make sure they get a could portion of the milk by kneading it...that's what it looks like to me
@Poika99 Momma kitties have a little kitty language they talk to their kittens with. Body language is part of it. I was noticing this with a feral momcat when she was caring for her litter of kittens, which I socialized so they could be adopted. Much of the chirps moans, and modified meows are very quiet, many times I could see her talking to her kids but couldn't hear her. They have ears that pick up sound for miles, so there's no surprise that they are quiet when the communicate.
when i grow up i want to be a marine vet, but i love all animals just seeing this baby bobcat be part of the family makes me so happy I'm going to go cry with happiness
I have a Pixie bob tail cat. Took her in @ 3 weeks old after the mother died. She breed with a bob cat & I now have the last kitten to servive. She is now 6 weeks old & doing well. She is on my youtube channel!
@BigCatRescue - The mother cat was probably thinking "Oh, alright! I'll take her in ... just this once!" HA! ... just kidding! I'm so glad things worked out.
No other bobcats wouldn't have accepted her they are solitary cats and would of killed her, plus our ultimate goal was to release her back into the wild, which we did so there was no need to introduce her to other cats. :)
Beautiful! I love what you wonderful people do, thank you so much for taking the proper time and care to do what is best for these wild cats! I feel pain for what is happening to Florida's wilderness, but it is nice to know that there are still groups out there who care so much.
I was just about crying when I seen the mommy kitty let the lil baby nurse. It was so cute watching the lil paws. This lil bob cat has all my best wishes for its future in the wild.
I'm a lover of bobcats also. It's really gratifying to see that Momma cat adopted her and that she had enough milk. Those 2 domestic kittens are pretty big to still be nursing.
NO, they don't make good pets. They will pee all over to mark their territory and will most likely destroy lots of furniture. Besides, bobcats are wild animals and they should remain wild.
such a joyful sight. I have personally witnessed adoption as well. My friend picked up an abandoned cat with its eyes still blue. It could not even be fed from a bottle and was starving to death. My cat just had 4 kittens at the time and I invited him over to see if my cat would accept his kitten. Sure enough, the mother cat took a good look at it then she let it crawl onto ner belly. It made me wonder if the story of Romulus and Remus might have been true after all.
maybe the mother cat does not know that it is not one of her own. I am not sure if cats remember their little ones since they are so many -does anyone know if cats can distinguish the babies that came from their own womb? are there any scientific answers? not speculations and logical thinking please...
If an animal feels the need to help another of the same species, most times they will.
Like ym male cat, he started bringing around another male kitten (which is very uncommon)
and would take his food and feed the young cat. The mother can distinguish that it is NOT one of her own because of the sent. Thats how the mother and the child tell each other apart from other cats and animals.
I think the mother felt the need to adopt and nurture the baby bob cat. :3
That is adorable. You guys and CatCall do such good work for felines! I'm going to donate as soon as I get money back into my account! You all are wonderful people! <3
That is awesome!! I had a feeling that she would in time. Putting them in with the kittens probably done the trick. Cats are wonderful mothers anyway..great,definitely a good sign for Hope. Yeah, she will get back at her new siblings later when she shoots past them and even Mom..LOL. Great job. Really glad to see that Mom finally adopted Hope! Well, you made me smile tonight!
Why do kittens knead the mom's belly when they eat?

One of my favorite videos. All the kitties are cute.I'm curious why Hope wasn't put with your other bobcats.Would they accept her?
Would Hope remain close with her adopted domestic cat family if they grew up together until they are adults?

Do bobcats make good pets, most importantly should they be pets at all? If so where and what requirements should I look for to get a bobcat?
HeyNicePhats 2 years ago
No, bobcats are wild animals and shouldn't be pets.
kokobaboko 2 years ago
Wild cat species will never make good pets, stick with domestic cats that have been domesticated for thousands of years.
