On my channel there is also a video of this, sadly lacking the quality of the video here.
I have one question which bothers me. This song seems to breathe emotional involvement, but alas, I can't find any such involvement in the interaction between Philippe and Muria.
They seem to keep a distance from each other, even deliberately so. Check the applause as to the distance the keep even then!
Am I missing something, or am I misinterpreting the song?
Well, M. Jaroussky is a true gentleman, and kept a bit apart from Ms. Rial so that she alone would be in the limelight. It seems he wanted to point out that he did not get an Echo (although of course he did, with L´Arpeggiata, for the album).
And of course two singers who normally have to fill an opera house with their voice without a microphone will sing towards the audience, not each other, from sheer habit.
Thank you, I think you hae a point here. Still, I have seen many a duet where the two performers at the end of their performance moved together and jointly accepted the applause of the audience. In this current video, it strikes me that at times M. Jaroussky and Ms. Rial even tend to move away from each other ....
Ohh, never mind - this is a spine-tingling duet. I have close to 100 videos on my channel - but I'd gladly delete 95 of them to accommodate this beautiful song.
And looking great even though he was tired , after performing SOO beautifully!!His aria from Faramondo was almost too much to listen unmoved! He is a true artist and we are very lucky!!Danke Jana!
Thanks so much for this Jana - I have enjoyed your postings for many months - we don't get enough live Philippe in UK, but I will be in Paris for the 10th Salle Gaveau!
Congratulations for all them for the ECHO Klassic Award!!!
Philippe's kindness and willingness to be there after such performance of Faramondo just the day before in Paris is endlessly praiseworthly... And always so great, humble and polite!

I must have watched this video over 500 times in the last two days. The singers have the harmonies down to perfection. I love it.

@aravis123
He is an mezzo with a lot of "highs" and "lows". :-)

@aravis123
He is really a countertenor, not an alto or a mezzo... less a soprano.

Now please don't get me wrong - this is one of the most beautiful and heart-aching songs I have ever heard.
I could not put this within the 500 word limit of a single message, but unfortunately the heart-ache seems to be missing in the duet.
