  • Do I regret voting 4 the Lib Dems- No. But do I regret Nick Clegg being the leader- yes. i'm all for cross party cooperation and i'm glad there is a coalition in principle. It's not the party he's sold out on though,it's the public. He doesn't listen and doesn't care that he lied in the election. He's damaged the credibility of having an alternate party for good.

  • They don't trust politicians? C'mon Nick, during the 2010 election I persuaded both my parents to vote for you, and now you intend to destroy one of the best education systems in the world.

  • I believe he can do all his duties .... I have a big support for him and the party ...... if you all hate him??? why did you watch their vids....???

    Vell Baria

    Manila, Philippines

  • NEVER TRUST AN ORANGE!

  • OMG! 'since when is the answer to debt more debt...that is why I am still implacably opposed to tuition fees.'

Fast forward to today and not only have tuition fees gone up but they have tripled! Incidentally, we now have the highest university fees in Europe.

You have betrayed your student voters Clegg and have exposed yourself as a lying fraud. And you talk about politicians representing the morals of the public. Since when did the public value deception and lies? Your are a disgrace.

  • I remember vividly on the news Clegg was indoors making a statement about the ongoing coalition negotiations between lib dems and labour, looking pretty cheesed off, then after finishing he kind of rolled his eyes and said to someone to the side "Is that Right?".

Anyone else remember this? I know i didnt imagine it because me and my dad spotted it, looked at each other and just muttered "Bellend."

  • Liar

  • Clegg, you are a disgrace. Tory enabler. I cannot wait until the country throws you on the trash heap of history, to be remembered for what a spineless man you and your party are. You are truly yellow, and by that I dont refer to your political party. I considered voting for you, I am so glad I didnt, and I never will.

It's actually quite funny that the LibDems waited all this time to get in power, and in a space of months have alienated their voter base forever. You have really screwed this up

  • Rubbish.. Only those who they want will be let through te doors...

Here talks the bigest Traitor Liberal Democrats and the People...

    He is Mr. Tweedle Dum

  • whos nick clegg hes a dick and liar

  • Mystic Clegg!!

Nick thinks he knows what his voters want but he obviously did not, he betrayed most of his voter who would not in a million years team up with the Tories now we have to suffer. Not only did the Lib Dems end up with a measly 1 percent more of the national vote and five fewer seats than in 2005, but the proportion of Guardian readers voting for them actually fell from 41 percent to 39 percent. Big mistake Clegg probably alienated your few loyal supporters

  • @TheNightnurse67 (a) who gives a toss who reads the crank left-wing rag The Guardian and (b) Clegg is in a coalition now, so he has to compromise - actually considering the LibDems disatrous performance in the election, he's actually getting quite a lot of his communist trash policies into the government

  • @TheZanipolo they are not communist u fuvkin idiot they are neo liberal pro free market freaks now go fuck yourself

  • @timetochilli bollocks- they are indistinguishable from TrashLabour. Now go sodomise your LibDem chums on Hampstead Heath.

  • theFUNny(12Aug.)-PrivateEye- has a thing on MULTI_lingual Nick's "gaffe" (compared to DaveCAM's MULTIPLE gaffes in EnglishLanguageToo) when he called the Iraq war-illegal- in a (D) PMQsession. Nick's "gaffe" was= -a politician never tells theTRUTH-.

Does he have 2neck SEXi scars or just the1? His wife Spanish Lady Miriam is so SEXy & SmartToo, I'd have married her too but I prefer Nick

  • Over 5 million people think Clegg should be PM!

  • So this jack-off wants to hold talks with the Taliban, well isn't that nice. I thought you stupid fucking Brits learned enough from Neville Chamberlin, I guess not.

It was nice knowing you, UK. Enjoy your Sharia Law

  • @miamad

We held talks with the IRA which eventually led to the peace process we have now.

Talking to people is not a bad thing........if you don't talk then you'll never sort out differences.

What's the alternative? Bombs and bullets?..........Keyboard warriors like you might like it but I'm sure all those dead and injured don't.

  • We should have nuked Ireland.

  • this guy nick clegg is such a faggot lol

  • CleggCamsham!!

Voters who flirt with Nick Clegg are likely to end up married to David Cameron!

Cameron's trying to get into bed with Clegg because he knows the polls point to a hung parliament and he's losing ..David Cameron has said the Tories are to target Labour strongholds, in the wake of the Lib Dem poll surge. Clegg should make it clear now and not run with the fox and the hounds

Vote Labour you know it makes sense Rodney...

  • My main concerns, personally, are the next government's policies on two things... TAXES and LIMITING OUR CIVIL LIBERTIES!

I would love to know what Nick Clegg thinks of the "Stop and Search" policy... "national id cards"... "censoring the internet".... airport "body scanners".... "national biometrics databases".... "climate change taxes" after the whole climate-gate affair (that politicians seem to have conveniently forgotten)..... "The New World Order" in progress.... the list goes on.

  • In regard to tthe digital rights bill.

Well I guess you fucked up stopping thispiece of billionaire backed legislation being railroaded though what is supposed to be a democraticly elected parliament. FFS try harder, these cunts really do not take any notice of the people who pay thier wages, if you give us some inkling that we have some sort of a say then you will get my vote.

  • It is time for us to clean up parliament; The LibDems wanted to do this 5 weeks ago. However, the Tory/Labour pack stopped them doing it; this was one of the main facts, which made me change my vote from a life Tory voter to vote for Mr Clegg. The LibDems are the only party who will clean our house 100%. We need a clean house before we start doing anything my friends.

  • Cameron tried to cool down the idea of a Lib-Con Cleggcamsham!!coalition today - assuming there is a hung Parliament - by saying at a press conference that he did not want to offer Nick Clegg a deal on electoral reform in return for support.

He's worried that the reform will never allow the Tories to win ever again.

Cleggs running with the fox and the hounds he's a phoney and Cameron's losing hope of wining, he knows the public can see through his shit policies he dosent know where to turn.

  • Look at Richard Younger-Ross, John Barrett, Sandra Gidley and Paul Holmes. Had to repay £16,500 in expenses falsely claimed. Took cash from their landlord in return for higher rent.

They kept the cash but guess who paid the higher rent? Yes, you guessed right - we, the tax payers did.

All Liberal MPs. All still standing for election. So much for Clegg 'cleaning up' politics.

  • Nick Clegg looks good for Britain.

  • NICK CLEGG must call David Cameron out on his closed door meetings on Rupert Murdochs Yacht.

The Tories are a nasty, elitest, corporate controlled party set on taxing poor and cutting taxes for the rich.

  • He is very quiet when asked about doing a deal with labour after the election, so a vote for Nick Clegg is just 5 more years of Gordon Brown and a few more looney policys for good measure.

  • used car saleman. nothing more. eurocrat. higher taxes. prisoners let out early or not even jailed. the vast majority of british people do not like this lying fake.

  • so Nick clegg was advised to talk to people during the debate as if they were 10 yr olds - god help us!

Even worse it worked - X factor prime minister!!

  • go on my channel and learn more about nick clegg

  • The top 2 parties are way too comfortable, they're barely trying anymore.

LET'S SHAKE THIS SYSTEM UP A BIT!

Let's make them work for their money.

    LIB DEMS 2010

  • I remember all this hype not all that long ago with Tony Blair...

Does the public never learn? He is a game player, a proffesional liar, thats all polititions are.

  • @antonjon1 The Liberal Democrats will be very soft on immigration. They want an amnesty for the million or so illegal immigrants and some of them don't want ANY restrictions on immigration at all!! This is madness. THERE ISN'T ENOUGH ROOM. We desperately need to get control of our borders and the Lib Dems are the very worst party on immigration. I'd rather have Labour back.

  • @BRIGSTOCK Of course you are right, but both Labour and the Liberal Democrats are both equally extreme left wing parties dedicated to transforming the UK through mass immigration. If the Conservitave party gets squeezed out of the equation then we will be living in a virtual one party state. It doesn't bare thinking about.

  • It must be great to be able to promise the world, knowing you'll never win...

  • Why do people keep saying he is the bristish Obama. Obama talked about spirit, driving force and mind set to push on positivly... Nick Clegg has done none of that! The only person who has talked about positive attitude and morale by working together as one unit is David Cameron.... Oh and Nick Clegg wants to raid pensions of 5.5bn a year as well as scrap the Pound for the Euro and put our troops under command of Brussels as part of a European army... BIG MISTAKE!!

  • Yeah Nick Clegg, A man who when running for Lib-Dem Leadership said it would be foolish to get rid of 'Trident' in 2007 as It would void our input into 'Non Nuclear-Proliforation talks. And now he wants to scrap it. Thats right Nick, force us to shelter under Americas nuclear umbrella, flip flop on your issues like all Lib-Dems. Sorry guys we need a decsisive party and not a get-out vote, Oh yeah and if we scrap Trident we may lose our place in the UN Security Council... Craptacular!!!

  • Clegg is the British Obama.

    Cable is the British Biden.

  • We got Rage Against the Machine to #1, we can get Nick Clegg into #10! VOTE LIB DEM 2010!!!!!

  • I agree NICK CLEGG-PRIME MINISTER...

  • Even at my most pessimistic, I must conclude that Nick Clegg is either a nice guy or a politician so cynically dedicated to pretending to be a nice guy that it makes no real difference.

  • @PinkandDeadly

perhaps you need to get a bit more pessimistic.

  • @ttimothymurphy i have a question about what you found out lily allen. does she know about what her songs mean, and who wrote them??? i need to find out what she has to do with this.

  • @PinkandDeadly yeah he is..... so talented in theatre and music too.....

  • Dear Mr Clegg,

has your party ever had a party political conference in Scotland? No? So you're much the same as the Conservatives and Labour.

Why do you think you have the right to visit Scotland and tell us we're "irrelevant"? Negative politics like the Conservatives and the Labour Party? What's fresh, challenging or different about your London-based party. Nothing? Quite right. Are you back home now?

  • VOTING LIB DEM 2010!

NICK CLEGG 4 British Prime Minister!

  • @0613162k Clegg has sold out what a WANKER

  • @colcfc123 idiot

  • @0613162k Do you regret your vote now?

I voted UKIP and I don't regret it one bit!

  • @0613162k but they've joked him a lot!!!

  • If there is one thing I simply can`t tolerate about any of these cunts is the fact that the only time they patronise `The People` with their presence is at election time, and even then they are all hand-picked lickspittles.

Even their youtube content is screening out messages that stray from the party line. And this is liberalism?

    Wankers.

And I still don`t know who Mick Pegg fucking is!

Does he sand-down and remove imperfections from the business-end of multi-speed electric dildos?

  • Christ, this really is as boring as it sounds!

Who the fuck is the bank clerk?

Can I have a loan, you twat?

  • Nik just because you enjoy it from behind,it does not make it natural,so stop trying to brain wash 6 year olds, you swallow what you want, but it aint natural.

  • If there's one policy that will get the LibDems in, it's closing the big-business tax loopholes which cost us more than £40bn a year. The Tories argue that the people who don't like it will leave the UK. Well, good. We don't want tax evaders in the UK. They can bugger off to some other corrupt state and rip off their voters instead

  • The Lib Dems are a complete joke. So.....Clegg, you're worried about debt and you want to abolish tuition fees!! That will increase the government's debt you moron.

  • This video makes me cringe! Pure sleaze!

  • Vote Liberal Democrats

To change England for the better,

    Get the word out

  • what about scotland QQ we need change

  • sorry the U.K

it is obvious labour is on the way out but really hope david cameron doesnt get in the conservatives wont bring Change lib dems policys a radical and brave which wll bring the change both England and Scotland are crying out for

  • The vast majority of British people are crying out for a voice.

2 of the main domestic policies which people are concerned with is European integration and immigration.

Now 80% of people in Britain (regardless of colour and creed) are concerned with immigration and want limits. The Liberal Democrats want to do the opposite.

    Democratic?

The vast majority of British people want a referendum on the EU. The Lib Dems voted against a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.

    Democratic?

    NO!

  • Tell me why I should vote for the Liberal Democrats?

Even more importantly. Tell me HOW the Liberal policies are going to work.

In my view, they are so desperate to get into power, they make policies which simply are not possible. They don't care because they won't win. They just want more seats.

  • Ultimately it doesn't matter what Nick Clegg says or what bitchy titles he slaps on David Cameron, he is irrelevant. Very few people care what he has to say, 30% of people don't even know who he is. The LibDems should start chanting "no we can't" similar to those mindless droves that supported Obama. Let's be fair the media shouldn't be kicking up a fuss about LibDem policies like taxing houses worth more than £1 million because realistically they stand no chance of getting into office.

  • he's kinda hot

  • What does "liberal" mean in UK? Are Lib Dems more close to social-democrats or classical liberals?

  • I think you would regard the Lib Dems as economically moderates, in the 90's, they proposed for high taxes to fund public services, but right now they stand against government waste and for cutting taxes for the poorest and middle income families.

  • I don´t buy it. "High income" includes thousands of small and medium employers. Class warfare taxation is so antiliberal.

  • It is not the same as American liberalism. The Lib Dems claim to have an appreciation for classical liberalism and has some classic liberal members, but in fact it is a social democratic verging on socialist party when you examine policy and the votes of their parliamentary party.

  • They are whatever is trendy at the moment. They are the most opportunistic and dirty politicians in the country. They smear and spin in by elections, accusing one candidate of being fat, and another one of being gay.

  • XAVIQAZ

    > What does "liberal" mean in [the] UK?

    "Utopian Fantasy"

  • We aren't nearly as exagertory as people are in places like the USA.

Americans seem to compare liberalism to socialism, despite the fact they are absolute opposite ideologies. Socialism believes in total social equality. Liberals believe in individualism. Although you should have equal rights (by law), we should all have the right to be individuals, see the benefits of personal achievement and to be unequal.

The Lib Dems are just dreamers though you're right. They aren't liberal any more.

  • Liberal democrats.. just fair and democratic...

but they are the same as labour and conseratives.

We just need to leave the EU...

  • moron

  • You don't vote for the Lib Dems because they are the most mendacious opportunistic shitbags in parliament, who will say absolutely anything to get elected. The Tories used to have principles but Clegg and Cameron are of the same ilk and Brown isn't worth mentioning. Be warned if you vote Lib Dem, they have been known to fight extremely dirty in by elections, and they exploited social attitudes to homosexuality in the 80's to win a by election, and the Liberal turned out to be gay.

  • and, theres nothing wrong with being gay, dickface

  • Please point out to me where I said there is something wrong with being gay

  • not sure what you guys think but i think his observations are pretty astute. interesting policy proposals.

  • Good stuff. The lib dems really don't get enough coverage by the media.

  • Having just finished my degree, i dont mind the debt as it is managable. However, wouldnt it be more fair, for the interest to begin on the loan once the degree is complete and not during the students time there?

Also, I sometimes get the feeling that no matter who is in parliament, the media will run this country through their heavily opinionated stories, can the lib dems survive this?

  • JAKERUSHY:

    > interest to begin on the loan once the degree is complete

    > and not during the students time there

Sensible and fair--as long as the degree is completed within a designated number of years.

    . . .

  • JAKERUSHY:

    > the media will run this country

    > through heavily opinionated stories

Every publication or broadcast network can stake any stand, with no less right to do so than the rest of us.

It is not for us to demand that such stand be on one end or the other. There is information and then there is opinion--our duty as individuals is to evaluate information, sift through opinion and take our own respective positions.

    . . .

  • Our viewership and subscriptions/purchases keep them in business--our refusal to do so is as powerful a force in driving them out.

Proof of which is the many print editions going out of business ... the dumbed down content of countless hit programmes ... and the increasing number of people preferring blogs--many of which are no less dumbed-down.

  • U talked about confronting criminals with thier victims in your other video. This was good.

But that you would push the lisbon treaty (as said in an interview) that would shift alot of parliment power to the EU and allow EU laws presidence over Sovereign laws, that it would add an additional citizenship to each person that would take priority of our old one. That it would have a supreme court without jury, THAT IT IS SELF AMENDING!

That we shouldnt vote on that as a people?

    NO VOTE!!!!!!

  • I think LibDems should target Labour more than Tories. People are obviously disappointed with the government, and ex-Labours will want to vote for another party

  • I think the LibDem policies are inspiring - however there is no real chance of them achieving with the first past the post system, we should adopt a system of voting similar to Scotland's to enable parties which aren't Labour or Conservative to have a chance to make significant gains, all the first past the post system creates is consensus politics

  • The idea you should not vote with your beliefs only reinforces the incompetence of the status quo. Of course LD's can make a significant gain. It only requires that people vote with their beliefs en masse.

  • 1ELEANOR1990, I disagree.

1 Yes, there are far fewer LibDem MPs than there are from other parties. For no other reason than because voters in most constituencies have hitherto decided that

    > "Of the choices on offer, they did not see the LibDems

    > as the best choice / as most likely to

    > represent their best interests in the real world."

    . . .

  • 2 To then react to this reality by *tweaking the system* for the specific purpose of *altering the results*, in order to favour those whom the electorate chose not to elect, is absurd and goes against the spirit of free elections.

    . . .

  • 3 Each constituency is already small enough for each candidate to meet with every voter for the purpose of persuading them of the principle and policy being espoused. Voters already choose whom specifically they want to represent them.

Nothing in this setting keeps each candidate from belonging to a major Party, to a minority Party, to a fringe Party or to be an independent, or keeps him/her from sharing in its entirety the policies of the Party or from disagreeing with much of it.

    . . .

  • Then

    (i) what need is there to make the candidate faceless, to make the individual candidate only secondary to the group to which (s)he belongs?

(ii) How is shutting out independent candidates better?

    . . .

  • 4 Proportional representation means multiple MPs from each constituency, which necessarily means bigger constituencies.

    (i) How is it better when there are too many voters in your constituency to meet with each one for the purpose of persuading them of the principle and policy being espoused?

    . . .

  • (ii) How is it better when even after casting your vote and even after the ballots have been opened and counted, voters still do not know who specifically will represent them, until election authorities have tabulated numbers and distributed them among the several Parties on offer--how is *putting more steps between* a voter choosing and the choice being named "more reflective of our will"?

    . . .

  • 5A What 'consensus politics'?

The three major political Parties, as well as the fringe ones are already not shy about confronting each other! The floor plan of the House of Commons debating chamber already has an aisle which seats opposing Parties on opposite sides!

    . . .

  • 5B How can you possibly seriously believe that proportional representation will reduce 'consensus politics'?

PR inevitably results in a greater number of minor Parties, some with only a few MPs each. Which then creates the need for coalitions just to form a government, which obviously in turn requires compromises, even with minor Parties.

How is that 'less of consensus politics'?

    . . .

  • 6 With all due respect for your sympathies with and support for the policies of The Liberal Democrats, please allow me to point out an inconvenient fact:

Just because the Party which has most to gain from a change in the electoral system --from first-past-the-post to proportional representation-- is zealous about persuading you to call for it as well does not necessarily mean that it will in reality be better for us in our respective constituencies than the present.

  • There is, for the first time in basically a century, a chance for the political axis to become Liberal vs Conservative.

This Labour government has proven, with damning finality, that the disaster of the 70's was not a one-off.

I have a problem with a politics as a whole in the UK, but aware that anti-politics is dangerous, I'm backing the LibDems, a party where nobody current has ever made a mess of government.

Labour and Tory are both in disarray, bring on the alternative.

  • if you want to win then you should lead with the "you'll pay no income tax if you earn less than £10,000" BUT REMIND PEOPLE THEY HAVE TO REGISTER FIRST as most of the poor don't even bother, and THAT'S where most of the votes are

  • Well, can someone let me know what "seeding" is in terms of commenting on youtube videos? I'm guessing it has nothing to do with fertilization or pollination? LOL

  • Sadly, I remain cynical. There is no way that politicians can go against what is already destined to be. Do you watch 9/11 'conspiracy' documentaries. Try Zeitgeist for a starter. If not, you should. That's what we are up against and I'm sure Mt Clegg has absolutely nothing to say on the matter.

Seeders, by the way, would obviously leave comments like mine up....else I would post again using a different identity wouldn't I. I would 'seed' your site myself. You know what seeding is then?? LOL

  • Nothing is destined but death.

  • I like the format and sentiments expressed. Generally a very good idea. However not everyone is able to get to the town hall. This is very difficult for people who (for example) live in the country and work relatively very long hours on a low income.

The fear is that politicians will think that feedback from these meetings is a good basis for deciding policy. You need to remember who is able to attend this sort of meeting and who is not.

  • I voted Labour all my life until Blair. I have since not voted or if any person was standing in my area voted Lib dem. I have now joined because they are the only ones who make sense and who we have not trued, it is time for change.

  • I have made this simple for all to complete Ascension and Transition from black death mortal to immortal pure gold never ending, the top man earth on this my land of David England says yes for all worldwide on that yes from your leader in charge of the people on my land all instantly come under the authority of eternal life heaven from where you all fell and remained in banishment fallen to the nature of the beast sin that takes you all that is man created evil death against life, I am life.

  • I like thew Lib Dems policies on nuclear, tax, europe and devolution, I hope they win a tonne of votes.

  • In my opinion, it would have been more effective if it was just a video of Nick answering questions, the best way to win votes is to listen more, speak less.

  • THIS IS THE KIND OF ADVERTISING OUR PARTY HAS BEEN LACKING!! Its effective, genuine.

  • Nick Clegg comes across as refreshingly plain-spoken and straightforward. At a time when public trust in politicians is at an all-time low, it's good to see a leading politician who will regularly meet the public in non-stage-managed situations for an unrehearsed Q&A. Impressive.

  • Watched the video (nice and slick and full of soundbites) and this guy is ,in my humble opinion, just another shister. Let him get elected and sit back and watch absolutely nothing 'change'. My mate says they should all be nailed to trees. Some days I agree. Their suffering would be short and as nothing to the suffering and uncertainty that they (politicians as a whole) have inflicted upon populations over centuries.. Added bonus is it would be 'eco-friendly'. Fertilize the trees as the decay.

  • How does anybody know that all of the people commenting above are not just 'seeding' this video ...if you are just seeds then you will know what seeding means....it all feels a little too pro Lib Dem to me. Am I paranoid? Is there actually such a thing these days as a genuine politician? ....are the two concepts not contradictions in terms and mutually exclusive? I trust Tony Ben and Dennis Skinner....end of list for me. Sure there are others that I don't know of who think they make a difference

  • The fact that your own comments are up, I hope, makes some kind of difference to your view that 'seeds' are the only ones commenting on this video. Also, it kind of makes sense that the people bothering watching LibDem videos and commenting are generally inclined favourably towards the party.

  • Comment removed

  • LibDem member. If students don't pay their tution fees then the tax payer must BUT we have too many Univerisities justifying their existence by filling courses with students who are then crippled by debt, who then cannot find jobs without retraining to have the skills the job markets want, calling into question what they have previously studied. Labour has used higher education to put back the entry of young people into the job market back until they are 22. Nick, we need solid answers to this.

  • Comment removed

  • this is only part 2 people. i was told by the LibDems that they would be doing a video on the European elections some time this week, so im guessing part 2 will be it.

Great work so far. I am definitely voting LibDems come 2010

  • Just one more comment - sorry.

Wasn't it Nick Clegg who was the author of the statement that when deciding the fate of the Gurkhas there is only one over-riding principle:

"If someone is prepared to die for this country then surely they should have the right to live here?"

  • It seems to me, that if we want to clean up politics then this is the man to vote for. After all, he is the only leader that is prepared to travel up and down the country attending town hall meetings and answering questions from the public honestly and from the heart rather than trying to convince the audience to believe some dogmatically spun pre-conceived agenda.

This man sounds genuine to me.

  • Excellent broadcast...Human, personal and informative about Liberal Democrats without mention elections. Our campaigns should always be about what Lib Dems stand for, so we become people's first choice on the ballot papers. Air time is short; I think this is an great way to use it. Well done. As someone who is standing at the county elections on June 4th, this helps my campaign too, so thank you.

  • Why does Nick Clegg not mention Europe once during this video for the European elections? Most likely because it would mean losing votes due to the Lib Dems Europhile postion. It seems rather dishonest not making this clear in a video broadcast during primetime TV.

  • this is only part 1. he still might

  • He mentions Europe in part 2.

  • Yep, Europe gets a mention in response to the second audience question. The answer - about 1 minute - is an argument for global cooperation, nothing specific about Europe. As a card-carrying LibDem, I have to say I'm disappointed so far as no attempt has been made to put the case for European membership. In contrast UKIP have put forward a clear, focussed, and apparently factual case for not accepting the bureaucracy of Brussels. We will lose votes if we cannot counter this more clearly.

  • Yes a good video, but this is for European elections. The only PPBroadcast to address this specifically is, dare I mention them, UKIP. Whether you agree with their stance or not, it was directly relevant. I hope the Lib Dems rectify this in the next broadcast.

  • Excellent! Who wouldn't trust this man?

  • This is a much better broadcast than our recent ones - well done! But to be slightly critical may be the next one, if similar, should have some interaction with &/or reaction from the audience?

  • I'll be voting LibDem at the Euro elections. I want a positive, constructive voice in Brussels.

  • A very impressive, and much improved performance.

    Well done Nick.

  • Very good, very clear, just what people want to hear. It's a shame that the Conservatives have crudely tried to jump on the bandwagon - I checked and the vaunted "Cameron Direct" started around 2 months after Nick did. Still, I suppose at least we can be united on opposition to this government. Looking forward to installment 2...

  • As usual, the Lib Dems are the only party talking any sense. When will the 'establishment media' realise that Labour have completely messed things up (as they did in 1979) and the Tories will simply revert to type, lowering taxes further for their pay masters, the richest 1 to 2%, whilst ignoring at least 90 % of the population. Isn't it time we gave the Lib Dems a chance to govern?

  • This is by far the best Liberal Democrat film since Nick Clegg took over the leadership. Keep up the good work.

  • A good broadcast and compares well compared to those of other parties.

I know not everyone likes the "presidential" approach in party politics, but this personal approach is well worth pursuing through the campaign in my opinion.

  • I really like it how this contrast with the Cameron broadcast by Clegg saying he opposes tutition fees.

  • This is a MUCH MUCH better party broadcast than ones in the past by the Lib Dems.

  • why do we only here the anwers, not the questions. Doesn't give a great impression, sorry.

  • Good stuff, but it must be irritating for the LibDems having their good ideas ignored or laughed at by Labour & Tories - only to then jump on the bandwagon.

  • You're right. The Tories in particular keep jumping on our bandwagon, from the 10p tax rate to Heathrow expansion, from ID cards to the Gurkhas, they came late in the day to our position, and then claimed the credit.

  • Yesss. More like this, please.

  • Quite right forresttter, The media try to ignore the Lib Dems. Even the gurka success, it was a LibDem bill in parliarment Cameron jumped in and the fact was barely mentioned on news reports. It's bound to be hardest fior a third party as three-way debates are harder to report, basically it's lazyness

  • Nick doesn't get enough coverage in the mainstream media because the mainstream media is the establishment media, and Labour and the Tories are the establishment parties.

Only the Lib Dems are prepared to shake up the establishment: to say, no, we're not going to sell to arms to dodgy regimes, no, we're not going to sign multi-billion contracts to handsomely reward consultants for dubious IT projects like the NHS database that don't even work.

  • Spot on. We need to hear more from Nick Clegg, he doesn't get enough coverage in the mainstream media.

  • I like this video - direct and to the point. The more I hear from Nick Clegg the more I like what he has to say.

  • Nick is clearly the more down to earth guy compared to Brown and Cameron, and lib dems are clearly the party who are gonna make the changes we need in Britain, however I doubt they'll get back into government any time soon. I'd love to see it though.

  • I hate election broadcasts but I have to say that this lot seems to be the only party who has some idea of what's actually going on and how to solve it. With the two other parties constantly messing up, it's probably time for someone else to have a go anyway.

  • A great video - we need to see more of Nick Clegg.

  • Spot on, no vacuous tripe like webcameron, inspirational. Perhaps with Labour in free fall, and the Tories not sure if they want to be New Labour-lite or Thatcher re-born now is the time for the Liberal Democrats to break through

  • very good showing from clegg there, perhaps he could try and up his showing in the press and mount a serious challenge for next june.

  • Most politicians are too scared these days to hold events with unscripted questions - remember Tony Blair being ambushed with a surprise question outside a hospital in 2001 after a smoother-than-smooth 'everything's brilliant' press session inside?

And, here, in what was solidly a Labour area, nobody but the Lib Dems bothers to knock on people's doors to ask them what they think. Labour's packed up. I can understand why Labour's too scared to meet the electorate, but where's the democracy?

  • No comparaison with Gordon Brown's failed YouTube attempt!

    Go for it, Nick.

  • Comment removed

  • Good stuff Nick. This video will be a big help to me in the local council by-election where I am the candidate -- the first ever Lib Dem to stand here. I'll get a link to it from my website asap.

  • Great stuff Nick. This is what we need.

  • Go get 'em, Nick. Behind you all the way.

  • It's great to see a party leader taking the time to talk to the people. I've never seen this level of dedication from G. Brown and I doubt I ever will.
