Check the little film about the annual St Bridgid ceremony in Cill Dara. It's title in youtube is 'Fire Ritual - Derry Tune' (a tune from Kíla's latest album, Soisín)
WOW, this is awesome!!! What a song, and what images!!! Thank you so much for sharing this. I needed a reminder today of who I am - Brigid's daughter. Right time, right place... I must be doing the right things. :) Blessed Be!
oh yes we are, as nutty as a squirrel's hidden stores, as wild as a raging storm, and as warm as the fire in a freezing winter. Won't you join us now? :D
It depends on where in Ireland the person is from for the pronunciation. Some say "Bride", some say "Bree", some say "Brij-id", and some say "Brig-id". The dialect in Ireland is so vastly different from one county to the other that there are rarely any set-in-stone pronunciations of deities.
lol here in holland every city and vilage has its own dialect, there are like a hundred diferent ones and even we have another indiginous language besides dutch, it would be no diference in ireland were they pronounce Brighid in diferent ways, btw very nice vid, my compliments :)
My daughter's namesake!

you guys are gonna think I'm so anal retentive, but, the correct pronounciation is "Brheed", soft "e". Silent "G".

I'm having some Pagan friends over, doing a Druidic-style Imbolc ritual, and then FEAST (my favourite part). I'll talk all about it tomorrow. :)
