@aleegeri actually the music of this song was created early in XIX century by German students in Prussia (German county) and the song was about struggle with Napoleon who occupied their country, Later the German lyrics was changed many times. Russian lyrics for that music were written in 1896 by russian poet Leonid Radin and then the song become revolutionary communist/anarchist song. By the way, AFAIK any version of the song is prohibited in Germany.

I just noticed; i have this song in my archives but its kind of backwards....in the version i have the man sings the first stanzas, then followed by the army chorus. It's pretty cool how they have many versions of their songs...like "Westerwald" i have 3 different versions of that song.
