Did you never learn the most basic trick of dogfighting in an F-14? Let him get close, then hit the brakes and he'll flight right by. Then, lock is easily attained.

What are those glove vanes doing there in a dogfight? As far as I know they are automatically extended above mach 1.4 to compensate the nose-down pitching effect and they can be extended manually only with wings swept full aft. On the video none of these circumstances are present, so the glove vanes shouldn't be extended.
Here's one aspect of the game that I think would be a good change if there is a sequel. Typically, a pilot will only be after their designated targets. In this game your points and rankings are based on how many enemies you destroy. I think the rankings should be based on taking out targets without collateral damage or civilian casualties. And base the points on how quickly the targets and only the targets are taken out without having to fire additional weapons. Dogfights are a must though.

the fact of the matter is if u have never actually been in a dog fight environment u would not see how different this is. both games are the extreams end of reallity. flying tornado f3 and now typhoons the actual reality is that it feels slow at the time due to both aircraft flying at near same speeds. on camra after, u see that its the quickest experience of your life. +from a gamers perspective, y wud u choose to go into a dog fight, in over g, with an f-14A, thats crazy
Not as crazy as you would think, the F-14B is my Over-G squadrons jet and we fly it almost exclusively. and I'll tell yea now nothing is more fun than hunting down those noobish rapters and taken them out.
Well I play FSX-Acceleration i have falcon 4.0 but dident like falcon because the camera was screwy I would have to say for a console flight sim it was the best there is. Of course since its console its alittle arcadey but you will hardly notice once you get going. The game has alot of hidden reality that is not mentioned officially you just have to notice them yourself.
I only know FA-22A and SU-37 Terminator are best because I have Ace Combat Squadron Leader and Ace Combat Belken War games on PS2 and they are the only best ones but there are many unlocked Aircrafts as well. Do you think they are the best ones?

@ColeHimself I find evading missiles in this game dreadfully difficult! It's what ruined it for me and I've played LOADS of flight sims (falcon, dcs series) on PC. A nice effort for a console based "flight sim" non the less. Not as pretty as ace combat, but not the wargasm ... not a fan of the wargasm.
@element1108 if your having trouble evading missiles try waiting until they get inside the small circle on your radar and then engage your flairs this should help some.

Stop bad-mouthing Over G there almost completely different games. AC6 is an arcade game and Over G is more of a simulation. If you can't be bothered to learn how to fly in Over G then play AC6 but don't complain about Over G. Also, missiles are almost impossible to dodge in real life using simple areobatics. Thats why they invented chaffs and flares.
its really good if you like sims the graphics arent too bad either. AC6 is good but this game has alot of features that AC6 should have. MY advice buy both
AHHH!!!! Why doesnt xbox 360 marketplace have demos to download of both over g fighters AND ace combat 6?!?! I downloaded AC6 and it seems pretty good, id buy it if i thought i wouldnt like over g more - but now ill never know. I guess ill have to go to the bother of renting. Uuuugh.
not exactly freeroam, yes you can set a map and just choose 0 enemy planes and fly around. there was another option (dont remember) where you can fly around and there will be enemies all over the place, you can land to rearm and eventually a boss plane appears if you defeat it you earn that plane or achievement (never really played that option much so i dont rememeber)

Over G is the best dogfighting game, bar none if u wanna shoot someone down u actually got get behind them, and u dont have 70 chances to hit them....its a shame no one plays online anymore
yes over g fighters is a great game.. it really simulates flying a fighter plane... you can fly upto 75000 feet, G forces affects the pilots aswell and most of all evading a missile is really hard compared to ACE COMBAT 6 you have to use a chaff or flare...
Can someone tell me if this game is any good? Im a big Ace Combat fan and this caught my eye. I noticed is an Ubisoft game which is good but they made blazing angles which was only alright in my opinion. If this isnt like that and more like Ace it looks good?
tip: alway turn into an attack and when all us falls inverted split s you should have him either over shoot and or be rite in your crosse hairs it works for me just a tip

it is retired now though. replaced by the raptor as the current air superiority a/c.
unlike its predecessors the new gen a/c are very mild in terms of feel so i dont really like the idea of the newer gen a/c but at the same time it does its jobs well so no arguement over here
thats why g suits put pressure on your stomach and legs to keep blood from pooling in lower parts of your body more positive g's are performed in military aviation and you cant get a g suit for your head :):)
Predator2429, this game will not be forgotten. Ace Combat is more like an arcade game instead of realistic flying sims. Unless Ace Combat 6 add in realism in flight details, gravity, climb rate, g-effect, limited n realistic weapon system. Only then I might forget Over G as AC has more planes n could pit them with something science fiction like those ion cannon beam.
Ace Combat isn't fun. Those jets in AC could carry >50 IR missile engaging air n ground targets??? I played it because it has nice details n I wanted to fly all the fighter jets especially YF-23.

my bad, its Ace Combat 6, and like I said in another post, LOMAC is for PC not a console, so Over G is the best SIM you can get on a console. the 360 controler doesnt have like 101 buttons. but you can still lower/raise landing gear, rudders, turn Ao Limiters on/Off, use chaffs, switch between different types of misiles, etc etc. which is good for a console game.
really depends if you enjoy SIMULATION or ARCADE action, this game is a SIM and can be very frustratingly difficult, grafics are ok, music and story is bland but its the best or rather only console flight sim there is and if you like flight sims then you probably will like it.

The game is retarded. You cannot 'fly' your movement is restricted, you can't do rolls or fancy flying, just turn and lock on and click fire. It's awful

Ace combat 6 is technically ace combat ZERO. It'd be seven you're waiting for. Even then, they're stopping with numbers. When it get's to ten, i hope they will have a custom plane option and bombers for a fucking change. What if they could do somthing to let planes mate like in the wild? It would be the best air combat simulation ever, thats what!!
great bit of dogfighting, i tried a sidewinders only engagement between me and four su 27's. had to do a cobra stall to get them to overshoot me and it still took 15 mins to tally them all.
how do you get the F-22? i really want to get it.

Dident know how to get it.
Now i have beaten the game on every lvl and unlocked all airplanes.

AHHH!!!! Why doesnt xbox 360 marketplace have demos to download of both over g fighters AND ace combat 6?!?! I downloaded AC6 and it seems pretty good, id buy it if i thought i wouldnt like over g more - but now ill never know. I guess ill have to go to the bother of renting. Uuuugh.

not exactly freeroam, yes you can set a map and just choose 0 enemy planes and fly around. there was another option (dont remember) where you can fly around and there will be enemies all over the place, you can land to rearm and eventually a boss plane appears if you defeat it you earn that plane or achievement (never really played that option much so i dont rememeber)

Over G is the best dogfighting game, bar none if u wanna shoot someone down u actually got get behind them, and u dont have 70 chances to hit them....its a shame no one plays online anymore

yes over g fighters is a great game.. it really simulates flying a fighter plane... you can fly upto 75000 feet, G forces affects the pilots aswell and most of all evading a missile is really hard compared to ACE COMBAT 6 you have to use a chaff or flare...

Can someone tell me if this game is any good? Im a big Ace Combat fan and this caught my eye. I noticed is an Ubisoft game which is good but they made blazing angles which was only alright in my opinion. If this isnt like that and more like Ace it looks good?

The game is actually made by TAITO, Ubisoft just published it in US and maybe Europe.
Its good if and only if you like Simulation games. since the jet will feel slower, turns also feel slower, evading misiles is harder etc etc.

when that flanker was right above you the worst thing you could possibly do was to hit ur burners and run, your so stupid. you could have easily pulled into a scissor or split s or simply hit ur brakes. need to be a tad bit smarter than that

I agree with the references to Ace Combat its like the back in the day version of Afterburner this game stll looks great and sounds good in Ace there is no G effect when you are banking causing the pilots to be pinned with rushing blood to his brain

i wish you kiddy's really understood what happens to a pilot under heavy g load
first. +g's will cause blood to leave your brain and pool in your lower limbs causing g lock aka a black out
second. -g's will cause blood to rush to your head and pool in your brain causing red outs and loss of vision

because the tomcat has always been a beauty and is the true mark of air superiority
if u ever get the chance to fly one ( real life ) u'll know what it feels to fly an f-14
it is retired now though. replaced by the raptor as the current air superiority a/c.
unlike its predecessors the new gen a/c are very mild in terms of feel so i dont really like the idea of the newer gen a/c but at the same time it does its jobs well so no arguement over here

thats why g suits put pressure on your stomach and legs to keep blood from pooling in lower parts of your body more positive g's are performed in military aviation and you cant get a g suit for your head :):)

Predator2429, this game will not be forgotten. Ace Combat is more like an arcade game instead of realistic flying sims. Unless Ace Combat 6 add in realism in flight details, gravity, climb rate, g-effect, limited n realistic weapon system. Only then I might forget Over G as AC has more planes n could pit them with something science fiction like those ion cannon beam.

Ace Combat isn't fun. Those jets in AC could carry >50 IR missile engaging air n ground targets??? I played it because it has nice details n I wanted to fly all the fighter jets especially YF-23.

my bad, its Ace Combat 6, and like I said in another post, LOMAC is for PC not a console, so Over G is the best SIM you can get on a console. the 360 controler doesnt have like 101 buttons. but you can still lower/raise landing gear, rudders, turn Ao Limiters on/Off, use chaffs, switch between different types of misiles, etc etc. which is good for a console game.

really depends if you enjoy SIMULATION or ARCADE action, this game is a SIM and can be very frustratingly difficult, grafics are ok, music and story is bland but its the best or rather only console flight sim there is and if you like flight sims then you probably will like it.

The game is retarded. You cannot 'fly' your movement is restricted, you can't do rolls or fancy flying, just turn and lock on and click fire. It's awful

the F-14 is the first jet that to me looked like it was ment to be in the air. when it get on the enemys tial they are hopeless.the only battle tested fighter to never incur a loss(to enemy fire)

Ummm F-14s have been lost to enemy fire...look it up. F-15C hasn't ever had a loss except for the F-15E Strike Eagle...they've lost a couple.

USAF passed on similar missle. Shooting flares to spoof IR missles. Tomcat diehards say F-14 with slight mods would be much better than SuperBug that is nearly as big and more costly. Frame obscures canopy, unlike 15,16,18.

i saw the leading edge chines at about 2:30.the Aim-54 was not designed to dogfight.the missle was ment to be fired at soviet bombers from beyond visual rang and to shoot down the exocet anti-ship missle that russia had purchased from FRANCE!!! they have some nerve asking us for help then selling us out

Ace combat 6 is technically ace combat ZERO. It'd be seven you're waiting for. Even then, they're stopping with numbers. When it get's to ten, i hope they will have a custom plane option and bombers for a fucking change. What if they could do somthing to let planes mate like in the wild? It would be the best air combat simulation ever, thats what!!

great bit of dogfighting, i tried a sidewinders only engagement between me and four su 27's. had to do a cobra stall to get them to overshoot me and it still took 15 mins to tally them all.

For now on Next Gen Consoles yes this is the online flight sim.
I believe that the makers of this game did make one for the PS2 but I think it only came out in japan I think it was called Energy Airforce.
