  • I was in Matsumoto last year or so and now I'm kicking myself that I didn't know about this wonderful izakaya. Soooo reckon I may just have to start saving the pennies for another enjoyable trip to beautiful Matsumoto.

  • うらやましい

  • i was just eating and watching this video. love your vids. i ended up haveing 2nd helping of rice.

  • I went to Matsumoto to visit this place and they were closed!!! They don't open on Sundays Todd! Next time you could post that information! I did, however, find a great izakaya called kuriya Jube.

  • woo nice music at the end

  • Damn you!! I seen this gorgeous display of food and had to rush to my freezer! All I can muster is southern fried chicken bites and Udon noodle - Sad times! Great video my man - Food videos are always top draw.

  • So, I just ate dinner and you made me want to eat again!!! luv, luv, luv your vids they're informative esp..bout what to eat in Japan.... :) lol

  • dude you're lucky.... I want some of them food you ate

  • WOW todd!!!... awesome vids.. keep it up..watching yur vids gives me a sense of what to expect and things to do in japan when i go visit in spring/ summer of 2011

  • @TheConspiracyMan8 Let me know when you come we should hangout with some beer and Yakitori:P

  • ugh I love/hate food vids like this, makes me painfully hungry.

  • @JayHiding Love me Hate me its alright get on a plane and come here and EAT!

  • that beer glass looks so cold, I just want to cry.. lol

  • thanks for the info on the side, ill make sure to visit that place.

  • Matsumoto is a cool place.

I went there with a buddy.

  • I do avocado and brie tempura at home all the time. Thats quality stuff....cool post.

  • i was already hungry, this just made it worse T_T btw whats the song at the end? i like it.

  • I had a student from Matsumoto and he described his hometown as being totally "inaka". But this video makes it look super fun!

  • I'm hungry now :)

  • Great video. What artist is performing the last audio clip?

  • also perfect music

  • what a jewel of a video. next best thing to being there. thanks!

  • Cool! sometime we should go and get some grub together... cheers!

  • Love the sign for "Lucky's Bar"! Matsumoto looks like a great place. I had loads of yakitori and large quantities of cold beer here in Ichinomiya last week. Stay cool.

  • Very cool-

The best part of going to an Izakaya (besides the food, etc.) is getting to "walk it off" afterwards. Here in the good ole USA we just walk to the car and hop in and drive.

Nicely put together Todd. The pics at the end were like a bonus.

  • Yea I used to drive my truck down the block to get a beer ... what a dummy... now I walk and ride my bike almost everywhere. Talk about a low carbon foot print! No car no gas no insurance, maintenance or taxes on it.... cool!

  • This place is not far from my wifes hometown. We might check it out in January man, looks awesome...cheers : )

  • You will not be disappointed!

  • I need direction there from the station and can you eat there alone. Thanks in advance.

  • From 3:44 to 3:50 - how is he not burning his hand?

  • Man everytime you show your awsome experience in the Izakaya makes me want a big bowl of Soba noodles and a lott of sweet potato tempura! Love your stuff!

  • Sweet! Raw avocado with soy sauce is also an easy treat. Cheers!

  • mmm deep fried avocado sounds good. although I just finished a salad with a whole avocado in it while I was watching.. and a bowl of tom yum noodles.. burp!

  • Great vid!

  • I don't think I could ever eat that much, but if I ever wound up there I'd certainly try!

My favorite part of this video is the police car. It's so cute. haha

  • great video Todd...the food ABSOLUTELY look DEElicous, my stomach is growling....wish I was in Japan again...the Japanese food here in Seattle is terrible....love the street scene towards the end...CHEERS

  • Take me with you!

  • Once again.....YUM

  • Todd, as usual your video ROCKS!! it's great that you put videos like this up. I cannot stand the ones of people just sitting in front of their computer blathering on about some dumb shit like another guy here in Nagoya loves to do WHO GIVES A FUCK, show us the world man , ROCK ON BRO!!

  • So do the Japanese really understand the double entendre when they say things like "The best head in town"?

  • matsumoto looks like a really nice place to go walking around at night. makes me wanna visit :) the places you 'advertise' in ur vids always look like spots a tourist would never spot...well, thanks again for showing us a food spot!

  • Well thats it I'm hungry now. Darn you!

Everything looks so good! I'm kinda scared of the Tofu though.

  • Yea I was not very interested in Tofu until I tasted the real Japanese deal.

  • What would you say the difference is?

I guy I talked to once said that silken tofu was alot better, though I have yet to try it. I have tried tofu in the past and it was like eatting balloons.

  • Really good video Todd... was planning to cook something simple tonight like BLTs... but once again Izakaya food. Place looks really good, hope I get to go there when I visit Japan next month.

  • See you then... Hey that place I like in Kawaguchi has gone back to charcoal... we should go there!

  • There was a really great Yakitoriya in Fussa that was always busy and putting out really good yakitori, then they we electric... a few months later they were shut down. You need to check out some of the Izakaya in Hadano City that Chihiro took me to when I was there this past April and June and I will go to them again next month. Thanks for the greats posts.

  • Very cool vid. I really wanna try that fried avocado now. I'm intrigued.

And the shots at the end were awesome. I'm kind of a night hawk. I just enjoy the dark and being out at night.

  • Thanks... the air that night was just right. The colors came through the auto camera just right. The Avocado was a surprise item... they were perfectly ripe and had the consistency of fried butter. They melted in the mouth.

  • The izakaya industry is very competitive. They actually visit each other to come up with new ideas. They are also sensitive to today's popular dishes and items out there. So, it's not rare that you see some similar dishes at different izakayas

  • That's good inside info.... it seems they really keep up with their "foot work" and not just relying on their immediate success. The better places have a energy that permeates the air and the food....The staff attitude, the presentation and the ingredients all superb. Not like back in the US where they are dumping frozen food in a fryer.....Thanks!

  • great video dude!

im definitly gunna have to try that place when i go to japan ^,^

thanks for filming the awsome night footage for us!

    5/5

    and

  • Dozo!

  • Nice vid. I enjoyed the night shots at the end. I hope you do another night footage video someday.

  • Yea that little CASIO surprises me... Thanks.

  • haha, your eyes were watery when you ate that fried avocado. pretty odd, fried avocado

  • Yea I almost burned my mouth!

  • man thats not fair. now i've become hungry. lol =P

great delicious video man ...i cud almost taste those just by watching the video. lol. keep up the good work man. atarashii video no koto otanoshimini. mata ne. ^.^

  • Sorry to tease your appetite but I do enjoy making everybody hungry:)

  • I became certain that you're a genuine the IZAKAYA gourmet! :)

I'm looking forward to your next video.

  • Thanks, I hope to cook as good as some of those I film.... someday.
