I was in Matsumoto last year or so and now I'm kicking myself that I didn't know about this wonderful izakaya. Soooo reckon I may just have to start saving the pennies for another enjoyable trip to beautiful Matsumoto.
I went to Matsumoto to visit this place and they were closed!!! They don't open on Sundays Todd! Next time you could post that information! I did, however, find a great izakaya called kuriya Jube.
Damn you!! I seen this gorgeous display of food and had to rush to my freezer! All I can muster is southern fried chicken bites and Udon noodle - Sad times! Great video my man - Food videos are always top draw.
WOW todd!!!... awesome vids.. keep it up..watching yur vids gives me a sense of what to expect and things to do in japan when i go visit in spring/ summer of 2011
Love the sign for "Lucky's Bar"! Matsumoto looks like a great place. I had loads of yakitori and large quantities of cold beer here in Ichinomiya last week. Stay cool.
The best part of going to an Izakaya (besides the food, etc.) is getting to "walk it off" afterwards. Here in the good ole USA we just walk to the car and hop in and drive.
Nicely put together Todd. The pics at the end were like a bonus.
Yea I used to drive my truck down the block to get a beer ... what a dummy... now I walk and ride my bike almost everywhere. Talk about a low carbon foot print! No car no gas no insurance, maintenance or taxes on it.... cool!
Man everytime you show your awsome experience in the Izakaya makes me want a big bowl of Soba noodles and a lott of sweet potato tempura! Love your stuff!
mmm deep fried avocado sounds good. although I just finished a salad with a whole avocado in it while I was watching.. and a bowl of tom yum noodles.. burp!
great video Todd...the food ABSOLUTELY look DEElicous, my stomach is growling....wish I was in Japan again...the Japanese food here in Seattle is terrible....love the street scene towards the end...CHEERS
Todd, as usual your video ROCKS!! it's great that you put videos like this up. I cannot stand the ones of people just sitting in front of their computer blathering on about some dumb shit like another guy here in Nagoya loves to do WHO GIVES A FUCK, show us the world man , ROCK ON BRO!!
matsumoto looks like a really nice place to go walking around at night. makes me wanna visit :) the places you 'advertise' in ur vids always look like spots a tourist would never spot...well, thanks again for showing us a food spot!
I guy I talked to once said that silken tofu was alot better, though I have yet to try it. I have tried tofu in the past and it was like eatting balloons.
Really good video Todd... was planning to cook something simple tonight like BLTs... but once again Izakaya food. Place looks really good, hope I get to go there when I visit Japan next month.
There was a really great Yakitoriya in Fussa that was always busy and putting out really good yakitori, then they we electric... a few months later they were shut down. You need to check out some of the Izakaya in Hadano City that Chihiro took me to when I was there this past April and June and I will go to them again next month. Thanks for the greats posts.
Thanks... the air that night was just right. The colors came through the auto camera just right. The Avocado was a surprise item... they were perfectly ripe and had the consistency of fried butter. They melted in the mouth.
The izakaya industry is very competitive. They actually visit each other to come up with new ideas. They are also sensitive to today's popular dishes and items out there. So, it's not rare that you see some similar dishes at different izakayas
That's good inside info.... it seems they really keep up with their "foot work" and not just relying on their immediate success. The better places have a energy that permeates the air and the food....The staff attitude, the presentation and the ingredients all superb. Not like back in the US where they are dumping frozen food in a fryer.....Thanks!
man thats not fair. now i've become hungry. lol =P
great delicious video man ...i cud almost taste those just by watching the video. lol. keep up the good work man. atarashii video no koto otanoshimini. mata ne. ^.^

So do the Japanese really understand the double entendre when they say things like "The best head in town"?
