Of course it matters, who News Reporters voted for, if Wolf Blitzer voted 10 elections in a row for a Democrat, then stop telling me CNN is objective. If he was 50/50 or 60/40 or 70/30 then I would know he's not an idealogue.

Ms. Brzezinski's remarks on journalistic ethics lack professionalism as much as for what they imply. Sure, "every journalist" has a political affiliation and voted for someone. That doesn't mean flaunting it makes their output any better. It would clutter their reporting if I'd know or they make me aware of their views. Professional journalists should be able to retain those personal inclinations and save them for talk shows. Or just call it 'views channel' instead of 'news channel'.

The Mainstream Media has been wholeheartedly in the TANK for the Democratic Party for the last 30 years. Just compare their savagery against GWB and Dick Cheney and especially Sarah Palin, compared to their shameless kid glove treatment of Obama, John Kerry, JOHN EDWARDS, etc etc etc etc.

I like Mika's motivations but I don't agree with her approach. I want reporters to simply present the news. That means I don't care what their opinions are, nor do I want to hear them tell me what someone said; I want to hear from the person who said it. An ideal broadcast would have as little video and narration of the journalist as possible, and as much actual footage of the events as available. The vast majority of media in the US has confused fact with opinion, and journalism with gossip.

@FromThatShow Well sure and those are Gossip, Comedy and Talk Shows. For it to be considered news I don't want to find the reporter appearing on any of those other three show types (ie blending the line between them). We currently have reporters/political commentators state their personal opinions as an editorial during a news show, only for other reporters to then cite those opinions with a journalistic cop-out phrase like "Some people are now saying that ....".

Mika is very intelligent and honest. My biggest problem with her is she is about as uptight as you can get. Socially, sexually and in every other way. Bring up ANY subject of "social controversy" and watch her lock up and become extremely upset.

This is one of the worst ideas I've heard a pundit articulate in quite some time. Nobody expects reporters to not have political views or strong opinions. They only expect them to report on the news objectively from both sides. And if the world is dominated by liberal leaning reporting that's only because reality in recent times seems to have a liberal bias, as Colbert stated so poignantly back in his infamous correspondents dinner roast of the mainstream media and the Bush administration.

Still, though, the owners inject their views into the views of the workers. By disclosing the truth behind the slant, hopefully this can allow viewers to form their own opinions accordingly. While what she's admitting is not particularly innovative, it is something the media continues to struggle with regardless of who's in power. A slant to either political party is damaging to the media as a whole because it suggests an air of superiority, something that was never intended.

While Mika is telling us nothing we don't know, the unfortunate truth of the matter is that her dream of media honesty is never going to happen. If the people knew the true nature of liberalism, the true bias in the industry, and the fact that all of the reporting is left-leaning, the industry would complete its collapse, and the New Media would become the new media of choice. Of course by not admitting their bias, they are simply delaying the inevitable.
