The cricket's just not the same on channel 4. For a start the theme tune's all wrong, they have advertising breaks and they don't tell you who's bowling to who and from what end.
@RQBtv Well put it this way, it has a few similarities to baseball. Being an American, you would be best served to familiarise yourself with the great game through it's T20 format. We have three forms of the game, Tests, One Day Internationals, and Twenty20. If you want to learn about the great game and you have Facebook. Send me a message and I will give you the link to join my group and you will learn about the game and I will post links in there so you can watch.
i was born in 1998, started playing as soon as i could (my dad got me into it) and i wuold watch it but not really watch it if you get me, not really understanding or knowing what everything was. i caught the end of shane warne, but as i was so young i didnt really see him. i love watching replays of matches before around 2000, as far back as you like to go, when the country really was great and mor amazing victorys occured etc.
Luv the video to go with the music. Cricket is basically a game run by batsmen for the benefit of batsmen. Good to see 2:22 of them making gooses of themselves. No Warney though?
Has anybody discovered the classic tune to "BBC floodlight Rugby League",commentated by the one and only Eddie Waring.?I cant find it anywhere on You tube.
best thing about the cricket, as far as I'm concerned, but then, well cricket's all right, just not as good as rugby! Even football's better (the sport itself, not the fan culture), but their theme tune's rubbish in comparison! So I say this should be the cricket theme tune again, for ever & a day!
@Rho1963 I think also that Mike Brearley being reinstated as captain, and Bob Willis taking 8 for 43 at Headingly might have had something to do with us winning. Botham had a shocking series until he had the captaincy taken away.
Come on chaps, come on England, cricket world cup on the way and highlights on the beeb every night! Hip hip hooray! Hopefully we'll see this theme on the tele once more!
Funny, as an American (from Ohio, no less, in the middle of the hick Midwest) I never associated this song with any sport, much less cricket (didn't even know such a thing existed--the only crickets I knew about had six legs) but now I can't get the two unstuck from each other. Thanks, rest of world :-)
For the curious:"Soul-Limbo" (the hyphen is correct) was originally released in September 1968 on the Stax label, 45 rpm, mono, catalog no. STA-0001. B-side: "Heads or Tails".
@welshnick300365 Two of 'em, in fact--the BB's guitarist and bass player (Steve Cropper and Donald "Duck" Dunn) were in the MGs. "Soul Limbo" is actually a group composition: credited to Cropper, Dunn, Al Jackson, and Booker T. Jones. Fun fact: Isaac Hayes ("Theme from Shaft", voice of Chef on "South Park") plays piano and (I believe) cowbell on this track.
Anywho, an outstanding MGs single. I have an original 45 of it; the B-side, "Heads or Tails" is also great.
ya can tell a white did this rubbish - every heard of the WEST INDIES cricket team - asshole, that's what the theme tune was ABOUT and the BEST cricket team at the time - WEST INDIES, not all those pink skins and their sun screen
who bowled that ball at 41 seconds?!! Its the best ball ive ever seen bowled! wtf!! How did he get that much swing! Must have shined the shit out of that ball! His pants must be thread-bear! Poor batsman had no chance.

@donkeyride whats this "SHUT UP" my god your a person of few words ..it is called y tube you big donkeyride go back to what you do best and play with your toy soldiers
It is known as 5 day test match. Both sides play 2 unlimited overs innings. (6 balls)
A draw is usually gained after delay due to typical British weather (Rain). Basically it happens when the team chasing the run total doesn't reach the target by the end of the 5th day but still have wickets in tact. Because it is unlimited overs it is classed as a draw. If you get a full 5 days cricket with out rain stopping play it usually plays out. Wiki ashes 2005 Old Trafford for an e.g
@falcons1988 its a long time to keep focus.... I did hear there was silly names for fielders like silly position..long leg..and a short ..but a third man and me thinking there was 11 on a team ..I'm sure they all mean something that's where the confusion sets in .give me hurling any day over in 70 minutes and plenty of scoring ..cheers for your info anyway
@hungryherbie Yes there are positions with silly names, silly point and silly midon etc... and the main reason why they are called that, is because they are very close to the batting pitch and the fielders who are there often wear helmets. I got smacked in the jaw by the cricket ball coming at me in a silly position. It hurt.
@falcons1988 silly position is right ..what poor sod would be giving this task considering that ball is rock hard ..you would want a full perspex shield LOL...like what the police use in riot control....maybe a game of bowls for an easier life ....
