  • Fixed mine first try. I think overheating it resets the chip inside

  • you don't need to do all that. Just unplug and plug de xbox several times until in turns on without the red light

  • You ROCK!! Thanks. Totally worked! (I used 2 safety pins)

  • Thanks it worked! Now I'm back to playing mw3

  • your smart, i just got new games, and that happened. and i did what you said and it work. thanks man

  • as usual with me, doesnt fucking work, nothing works, everything i break everybody else seems to have a fix, doesnt work for me though, such a pisstake.

  • Too bad it's only a temporary fix

  • Thank you, this helped me alot.

  • Waste of my 15min. life.

  • My xbox has survived the RROD, E73, AND E74...How? I just unplugged and it and it worked just fine, this video will be sort of a back up if unplugging it fails and I ever get the E73 message again, thanks.

  • Worked and thanks for the help man

  • This is not even working for me. I have two xbox 360's, one have the e74 error and one have the e73 error.

  • This man's procedure intentionally overheats the XBox, which is poorly designed to disapate heat. The number one rule in electronics is AVOID OVERHEATING TO PREVENT DAMAGE. The number two rule is DO A SHUTDOWN RESPONSE TO ERROR CODES TO MINIMIZE DAMAGE. The eventual, but temporary circumvention of the error to allow startup, may be a design used by technicians with special equipment and knowledge to diagnose and repair the XBox; WITHOUT CAUSING FURTHER DAMAGE. Pay them, get fix, be happy.

  • its a more effective version of the towel trick. its only temporary

  • Holy shit!! This worked like a charm. Thank you so much for uploading this video.

  • I had this problem I just UN pluged it and pluged it back in it

  • Wow...it actually worked! Only took us 5 minutes total! Thanks!

  • Lol

  • Works!

  • and will it work witht the black xbox also?

  • if i try this out will my xbox only work for a sertion time??

  • if you truly have questions I have a new channel called the7rend just click the red box in the video to go to there and you can then send me a message.

  • Worked great! Only had to leave the paper clips in for maybe 5 minutes until it went to 2 rings. Started up the first time after i took them out. Thanks again!

  • nice one mate !

  • I used two bobby pins and when it turned on with them in the lights went green, didnt have to fight it, thanks! :)

  • thanks so much.......i had this xbox in my closet for years.....helped alot

  • your just breaking it more by over burning the chips and overriding the sensor NOT GOOD ADVIDE

  • Worked first try. Thanks so much.

  • Worked on the first try, thank you :)

  • thanks bro you saved my xbox!!! lol

  • Thank you very much for posting this video, I found it very easy to cut up a metal coat hanger and make U shaped fan locking devices to fix my unit. I would like to add one thing to your instruction to prevent frying the proc. After getting the 2 left reds and unplugging the machine, wait 15 more minutes for system to cool to prevent further damage.

  • I got the three lights after 5 minutes and was about to flame this video Ducreux style, but then I unplugged and re-plugged everything and turned on my Xbox and it worked smoothly. So thanks for the help, sir.

  • wow epic failure

  • Why is it not working for me:(

  • this worked for me but it keeps randomly going back to the e73 error if i ever turn it off....how annoying

  • worked well same issue as you, just took long after a few attempts to turn on and off :D

  • @NICKERDOODLE32 in the vid u had to turn it off and on again a few times to get it to work... how many times did it take u? just wondering if my xbox is a lost cause or if i just havent done it enough to make it work.

  • omg it works you werent kidding about thefan tho XD

  • Wow, Ty man, this really works. How did you figure this out?

  • thanks so much, worked like a charm!

  • I use qtips and took the cotton off. Thanks bro. -Impecable Shots

  • DUDE UR THE FREAKING BEST ... SUBSCRIBE

  • I FUCKING LOVE YOU

  • it isnt working for me..

  • i did this but then when i turned it off it made me do it again

  • @jawdodge70 I got half way through the video until I saw your comment. Thanks for saving me like an hour of this bullshit.

  • how many times did you retry in total?

  • thank u thank u fuk all the dislikes

  • your a genius!!

  • Wow yeah this works. Thanks!

  • how many attemps what is success rate???

  • Hell yes first try. GG

  • hey i just tried this and it worked right away but after it signed on it gave me a message saying " your xboxb360 console is designed to automatically shut down to protect it from insufficient ventilations. ..... do not do etc .

  • hey i just tried this and it worked right away but after it signed on it gave me a message saying " your xboxb360 console is designed to automatically shut down to protect it from insufficient ventilations. ..... do not do etc .

  • ty a lot dude my xbox finally works i havent played my xbox360 in 4 years

  • @Amarantha5979 its funny coz it isnt a game..

  • got it on my first try

  • It worked thanks man...

  • It fucking worked, i love you man;D

  • @ristian96 how long did the fix last?

  • @Bamabrute85 it worked for about a month for me, then i got RROD back. But then you just do the same thing once more and its working fine again.

  • thanks, it worked :)

  • @songoishot I used to never use the Ethernet port either. I had the 360 wireless adapter. I took it to my Bro's house one day and didn't have it, so I wired it. Worked great with no problems. We only played it for a few hours and went to bed. Next day... Turned It on and BAM!!! Bullshit E73 error. (Mind you it winter and the heat didn't work.) So I was&still am pissed about this. (Never got to play Halo Reach) Over heating would have been easier. Could of just over heated it like my old 360.

  • @crazyross2010 Just out of curiosity, Do you have a 360 with HDMI? I used to rap my old one in a towel and would work for about 2 months, then a few days, then a few hours, then eventually I had to just leave it on because every time I turned it off stopped working. Eventually it stopped working altogether. so I got a new one.

  • you helped me fix my xbox e73 thank you

  • E73 is an ETHERNET ADAPTER ISSUE!!! (Hits the letter E before 73) It has nothing to do with over heating. Your just going break your console doing this.

  • @ABLUEWAKADOO its amazing i dont use my ethernet and i got it and over heating it os it resets it self works 100% of the time for me for a good month or so

  • @ABLUEWAKADOO Worked for me 50+ times now I've been using this method for over a year

  • Tried this and as soon as i got the two rings, unplugged the cords, plugged it back in and first try it started right up. Thanks for the fix

  • Hey i think my xbox work perfectly, its my hardrive who laggs the xbox i need to buy another 1, do i lose all my succes and games and all shitt map pac and all thats shit stuff yo ??

  • didnt work!!!!

  • Hey this actually worked for me. I didn't want to overheat my xbox on purpose, but when I called my local repair repair shop which my xbox is still under warranty, they said repair time time is 7 days. Now I got it up and running thanks to this.

  • thanks man giant help

  • Hahaha people don't try this cuz it fucks up your xbox, he said it was only temporary too so... yea haha. I tryed this and I got rrod the next week. So now I'm fd

  • Dude your fucking awsome!!! It worked. thx

  • This is so ghetto. I had to stop watching when he blocked his fans using paper clips. Why wouldn't you just open it up and unplug it? LOL.

  • Aww man :c three rings of death

  • Uhm. My fans are kinda lound now. ok it kinda slowed down . But other than that, it works c:

  • @simleSUNSHINE Don't. I take electronics class, and the IC's inside the xbox are very sensitive to heat. Doing this is TEMPORARY. It will fuck up your xbox even more.

  • Kinda sketchy.

  • Holy S#%t it worked! Thx

  • you are a godsend!

  • you fools! EVERYTIME YOU DO THIS IT MAKES IT HARDER FOR A PRO TO DO A RE-FLOW, WHEN IT DOES EVENTUALLY FAIL THEN IT WILL NEED A FULL RE-BALL (WHICH KILLS ABOUT 20% IN THE PROCESS) WHEREAS IF YOU JUST PAID THE 80$ TO A PRO AND FIXED THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM WITH FANS/NEW HEATSINK THEN YOU WOULD HAVE A 360 LAST FOR THE NEXT 20YEARS AT LEAST WITHOUT RRODing!

  • worked , u saved my brother xbox

  • I only had to keep the bobby pins in there for 2 or 3 minutes, and then I turned it off, turned it back on, and it WORKED! Thanks bud.

  • Worked first go! Cheers mate!

  • Thhhhhhaaaanks Man !!! Your Awesome ! I will Subscribe

  • i'm waiting 4 the 2 left quarters, if this works, subscribed :)

  • Slowly take off your pants and then dip your testicles in to the hole of the center of the disk tray. Then close the disk tray and sing Puff The Magic Dragon three times, if it is still not operating then rub the CPU and the hard drive around your anal cavity while singing twinkle twinkle little star. I have done this three times on three different consoles and each one has worked and they have never broken down since. GOOD LUCK!

  • @MajR but wouldnt that rip ur balls off

  • @MajR Wait, what if I don't have testicles? Will someone else's testicles do?

  • I have the 1 xbox version and i did the same but so far ive been turning it off and on about 15 times any suggestions?

  • Ok, so for my xbox i had the same thing earlier today, when i turned it on i was like wtf? And went on youtube and searched error code e73 bla bla bla i turn my xbox on right now it doesent do anything there is no red ring of death nothing on the screan just the green turn on sign in the middle i need some help i really want my xbox fixed i only had it for 3 years please SOS

  • Wat does it mean wen the fans blow hard? N wen wil they stop? N if they keep doin that wil anythin go wrong?

  • ur supposed to wait 20 mins for cool down

  • I FUCKING LOVE YOU -33333

  • TYSM U MADE MY DAYYY

  • THANK YOU JESUS!! IT WORKED!!

  • AWESOME, it worked, thanks a lot! Hopefully it lasts long! :)

  • my genisis is more reliable than my xbox

  • @mastrlink It's sega genisis

  • the thing is its a next gen console and the innards should be top notch YOU SHOULD NOT have to do this in the first place a xbox360 if they were made correctly SHOULD last a minimum of 5 to 7 years with out a hitch like the ps3!!

i'm not a ps3 fanboy i had a 360 and in one month i had to replace it 2 times and the 3rd one i destroyed in a video on my channel and I'll NEVER BUY another one if MICRO$OFT gave me the money for it

  • @PhoenixWolfie You are right in many ways. Because of the fact my PS2 still runs fine even some of my older systems like my Genesis and N64 still run and they are way older then 5-7 years. This is bullshit and my brother and I refuse to continue dumping out hard earned money towards this shit. Not to mention, when you get a new console you void a lot of DLC that was bought on alt. profiles. I think I am tired of this generation of consoles and I want the new ones to hurry up.

  • I really hope this is permanent even though you said it might not be. I could not afford to pay some1 to fix it and this worked great thanks so very much.

  • this happened to me this morning i turned it off unplugged it and took the cooling fan off reall quick and now its working fine

  • its actually not the red ring of death but more of an error haha jus saying but i liked the vid it helps me out when im fixing xbox's for a hobby

  • cheers mate saved me 60 nots it worked cheers cheers and cheers some more :)

  • cheers mate saved me 60 nots it worked cheers cheers and cheers some more :)

  • Thx man, you saved my day! Gr8 trick, working within 5 minutes!!!

  • You guys, there are enough movies of dudes fixing xboxes the right way! This quick fix is genius for 2 or 3 of xbox errors, and DOES work...for only GPU (graphics chip)problems only! BUT, you can do it 2-3 times, then your xbox is fried for good. Having said that, a xbox can have 1001 different problems, unrelated to those graphics chip failluires. Learn to fix proper, its a good education for youz kids....in the worst case it could be a challenge and amusing to do

  • this works !!!

  • Second time works fine

  • AMAZING!!!! Thanks so much for posting this, it worked right away! So easy to do!

I ordered a new Xbox when mine died yesterday (out of warranty) , but I couldn't wait for it to arrive! I expect it will die again soon enough, but for now it's a great temporary fix till my new box arrives.

  • my vid wroks /watch?v=YPfph9xHn-Q

  • @GARY45490 IT FUCKING WORKS! IT WORKS!!!

  • yes! yes! how awesome~ your a total genius! next time i lose my keys ill check in to your site for your post on how to check your pocket for lost keys. next week.....find out how to check the top of head for lost sunglasses..SUBSCRIBE!

  • that was the worst fail of all time

  • OMG this actually worked 1st timee

but my main power light is flashing green does this mean there is a problem about to occure

  • omg thx

  • thank you so much this works 100 per cent let it cool down then works a 100

  • holy fucking shit IT WORKED!! so much dust came out... guessing thats was the problem. i would suggest to anyone else with this problem to use a compressor or a reverse vacuum to blow out the dust occasionally on their xbox to avoid long term damage. thank you!!!

  • @olywrestler140 dont do that with your xbox unplugged or at all is best that can cause static that will damage the xbox same goes for computers.

  • Hey man, thanks this really helped,

but if you have already removed the body, you could just disconnect the fans instead (at the back of the console) because we tried it, and it worked first time.

  • your hela stupid just call and get it fixd dumb ass

  • WOW. Please do not do this to your system. It is the same as the towel fix and both are critical to the life of the system. Find a person localy that dose reflow's and or reballs on cpu gpu. you can find a person that will reball your system for like 40 or 50 bucks if you look around and 12volt fan mod the system. This will allow you to keep gaming for real. It is worth the money i would suggest a reball over a reflow but its up to you what you spend.

  • You are the Best i Love you :D:D:D -3

  • Dude you rock. I did what you said and got it first try. Thank you

  • this happened to me last year so got new x box as didnt know about this, just done it on the old one and worked no problem thanks, now have a spare :)

  • Amazing...... I did not think this was going to work. But it worked on the FIRST powerup.. Genius.... Thank you

  • This worked!! Likes a lot!

  • This worked a treat.. Thank you thank you thank you

  • there is another way you let it overheat by blocking the fans then unplug it then plug it back in after it cools down then turn it on and put alot of pressure on the side that has the rubber things on it and if you do it right it will start up the first time but you will have to do that every time you turn it on unfortunately

  • help.... 6 years then this BS error

  • @WhiteWesWelker xbox hasnt been out for 6 years

  • It worked!

  • It worked!

  • Let it cool down for more than a few seconds. Give it 20 minutes to an hour at least so that the solder can settle.

  • Thanks...Worked on the first try.

  • What do I do tell me step by step I have E73 errors

  • Thanks dude helped alot

  • My xbox broke a few weeks ago and just tried doing this and it does NOT work, why doesn't it work for me?

  • thank you from mexico. gracias por el tip carnal!!!!

  • just send it to microsoft...if they do it for free....why worry about all this.....

  • This just happened to me today. Screw that paper clip idea... I'M GETTING A NEW XBOX SLIM ON WEDNESDAY!!!

  • Followed your instructions to the T. Booted right up, first attempt even.

Thank you so much! You are a saint!

  • Here's some info.

    1. Ok, so the problem is the Graphic Card wich is now loose.

    2. The trick with the fan block works on maybe 5% of the Xbox's.

    3. I know a way wich works maybe 70-80% of the time, wich is opening the Xbox, clean and attach the Graphic Card on to it's place again. NOTE: This may work for 2 Weeks - 8 Months (Usually) But the average time for it to work is 2 Months. You can do this yourself but it's quite hard.

    4. If your warranty is gone, buy a new one, cus MS does: Info nr. 3! ;)

  • @RIDUSIIN where is the graphics card at???

  • o great i freakin did this wen i got the e73 code andi ended up getting the 3 rings

  • When i turn my xbox on i hear a repeatedly tap in the xbox its fucked up

  • @Luffy490 Did you open your xbox when you blew on the fans or you just blew on the outside of the xbox?

  • Worked great. Mine is out of warranty so not worried about permanent damage since it's a brick either way. Hopefully I can get actual RRoD (3 rings) so it will be fixed under warranty.

  • Don't do this... Get it fixed the right way. Use the Southbridge X-Clamp-Fix

    xbox-experts. c o m / tutorial/southbridge-xclampfix/

    (no spaces)

  • I would like all of u to know about this trick. This reheats the soder then cools it in place. So tht being said it could work for a month or a week. In order to get total value of this after waiting till the two rings come up let it sit for about 1hr to let the board cool. If this done multipule times your board will run hotter each time

  • What about if my Xbox has one flashing light and no E73 shows up on the screen? what should i do?

  • this works up to a week i tried it and it lasted me 2 weeks

  • stupid E74 GUY TOTALLY DIDNT WORK

  • This is another verion of the towel trick, this mod is never worth and pay the $40 to get it reflowed and x-clamped, or $65-$80 for a reball, and itll never break.

  • @WeirdJerz3y were can u get that

  • @786GiANT you gotta look around, sorry for the late reply. Mine was reballed, from this guy on xbox-scene, supersdude1691, he in Fl and he reflows, or reball. He also sells consoles.

  • it worked for me but i used a towel to heat it up. now mine wont even turn on

  • well bro

    you got me lol

it worked on my first try

    thanks a bunch

  • NOTE THIS IS NOT PERMANENT....IT WILL WORK FOR A WHILE AND MAY COMPLETELY ERASE YOUR PROBLEM BUT MOST OF THE TIME WILL GET THE CODE AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN TILL THIS WONT WORK AND UR STUCK WITH A CODE THAT WONT GO AWAY...IM IN THIS SITUATION...IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE I CAN SEND THIS TO GET IT FIXED CHEEP TILL I GET A NEW ONE FOR XMAS PM ME PLEASE

  • @JJbOyZrOcK try calling 1-800-4my-xbox

  • @NICKERDOODLE32 yes but once you do this trick once or open your xbox its 110 dollars to get it fixed no matter what because this voids the warrenty
