  • That is my favourite Ed Gerhard arranged tune and you do it beautifully. You should go to CAAS and join in on the fun in July. You would be among may great players.. Including TE. He didn't attend last year because of health issues, but I'm sure he will be there this year.

  • This is a beautiful tune, and played by a true master...This is great.....Bill

  • oh my god.

i am 13 and i want to learn this. haha obveously NEVER as good as this but seriously, it is so calming and amazing. i know my opinion doesnt really matter but excelent job ! :)

  • I've been watching youtube for a couple of years now and never felt like becoming a member in order to make comment, until now.

Forgive me if this sounds precious but this is some of the best playing I've ever heard and I've been playing (and listening closely) for over forty years. It represents the tune faithfully, never detracts or over embelishes, it's understated, contolled , technically suberb, clean (not a squeak anywhere)and comunicates emotionally.

Well done, keep up the good work.

  • Thanks a lot.I really appreciate your words. All the best

    David

  • Very nicely done...I only made about 1/4 throught the tab and didn't take the time to learn the rest. Thanks for sharing it! Ken

  • merci beaucoup c'est très bien joué.

thank you very much it's very well played and thank you for the technical instruction for the tuning

  • Great, very fine work - have to work on my version before posting :-) kind regards, kush1503

  • Absolutely beautiful. I think the Water is Wide is the most perfect song ever written. This version is ethereal.

  • Absolutely beautiful. I think while the last writer said " not as profound as Ed Gerhard's version", that's like saying not as good as Tommy Emmanuel's or Doyle Dykes' versions of a song! So what, they're the best, and Ed Gerhard's version is probably as good as you'll ever hear for this song, so to come even close to his performance is wonderful. I'm a fan of yours from here on. Keep posting, you are an inspiration!

  • While not as profoundly done as Ed's, this is a pretty good version.

As for technique, oh my, I was jaw dropped watching the end of Doc's guitar.

  • really great that you still are posting again

  • Thanks a lot.Tuning is Drop D(EHGDAD)..The guitar in a Midiverb II-Mackie Mixer and Soundcard

  • As always, bigsby.....passionate musical expressions in the hands of a great talent, that you certainly are. This time...sparkling, soft sounding, tender...in danish we say "honey for the ears" to explain the feeling of a pleasent melodi...

  • The mood of this arrangement reminds me a little of the Eva Cassidy version. Hauntingly wonderful!

  • Thanks for sharing that.

  • Thanks for sharing that with us.
