@trasmethrash Most of it is just "explore the new area the acid movement opened up", but yeah, there's two spots where a hint would have been nice; the false wall above the fire-spewing turret in the first Chozo "city" (on the way to the Spider Ball); and a bit more obvious because its a long hallway to it, a path to an Alpha and an e-tank in the 3rd city.

I think they didn't/can't, because alot of paths actually *overlap*, so it'd take a Prime-style 3D map to display properly.

Wow, I never knew you could drop bombs inside the queen. The easiest way to beat her though is to just shoot the missles rapidly when she tries to bite you. If you fire fast enough, she stays frozen and you can kill her in about 30 seconds. One of the best games for the original game boy, for sure

@MrLuigi13131313 It is a side-effect of the game being colorized. I'd wager that there is a change in the game that isn't registered in black and white, but is in color. I've noticed a few other videos of the ending that colorize the back and white differently and the oscillating bar is still there, though in a different color than red (due to an alternate colorization).

why "best ending"?? i mean, the only thing that can happen at the end of this game is samus letting the last Metroid live and keep it, the only difference is samus and the end of the credits

@XxDaloxX Because it is the best ending, achieved by finishing the game in under three hours. In most Metroid games, the best endings reveal more of Samus out of suit. The less desirable endings of this game show her in either her helmet or full suit.

whats REALY interesting is the slight but still very noticeable similarities between the Metroid Queen and the Omega Metroid in Fusion.... funny how the ultimate metroids are always some type of genetically altered super mutated life form that has little to no similarity to a regular metroid.

@shiranuidragon Well, Omega Metroids were first introduced in this game. So it makes sense that in the progression from larvae to Alpha Metroid to Gamma Metroid to Omega Metroid to Zeta Metroid to... Queen, there would be less progressively less similarities to the larvae and progressively more similarities to the final stage of Queen.

Of course, that doesn't explain why Omega Metroid is so much larger in Fusion than it is in this game.

@AtlasShrugg3d First off, Omega comes after Zeta. And the reason the Omega metroid in fusion is so large is because it was cloned from the Metroid baby Samus saves, which also grows to an enormous size.

Pretty much everything was bigger in Fusion, probably for the same reason Ridley was smaller in Metroid 1: sprite limitations. The Game Boy has a small screen, made even worse with the fact that the player needs room to maneuver

@jfachris Nope. There are three possible endings. The first one, which happens if you take five hours or longer to finish, is that Samus just continues to run. The second, which happens if your time is between three and five hours has Samus running in her suit, jumping into the air, and then landing. The third and best ending, pictured here, happens when you finish under three hours, which as you can see, has Samus showing up without her suit.

@jfachris Well you are correct. It isn't really a speedrun game. As you can see, I took my time on it really when I played and I finished in under three hours. But that's basically because I know where to go and what to do, so I don't have to search that hard.  I could imagine someone trying it out for the first time not quite getting three hours going at my same leisurely pace.

is it true that samus is infirtile, or whatever teh condition is called, cuase of all her genetic enchancments? that would explain why she got attached to the metroid, it would have been teh closest thing she ever had to a child.....it also explains why she seems ot have a weakness for kids in the manga (i think those are technically canon, believe it or not) it also explains why she went bezerk when the hting got killed XD poor samus.

@Rossolon She gives it to scientists to study. It is then stolen by Ridley, which is the basis for Metroid 3: Super Metroid. It actually ends up sacrificing itself to save samus form mother brain, and then cells cloned from that of the metroid are used to cure samus of the x-parasite.
