Try using Tygon vacuum tubing. It will not crush like I noticed in the video. It's not cheap but is designed for high vacuum, is durable and is somewhat heat and chemical resistant. This will help you achieve a much better vacuum state. Nice looking oven and the concept seems sound.
@rschure1 Thanks for the info but I'd just use something cheap like conduit next time. I probably won't be using the oven again with panel costs dropping.
@wiboater4 I agree that panel costs are dropping very quickly and with that so are costs for individual cells. If you were to do this again what method would you use to cure the glass, EVA, TPE sandwich? I'm curious because I am looking at doing something similar as to your project.
@rschure1 yes I would use glass then EVA, Cells, another EVA then the Tedlar. That's what I did on mine and it works well. The EVA is cheaper than the Sylgard to use and in my opinion with the vacuum/oven setup works better. It oly takes about 80 minutes to melt together. The oven is easy to store if you just tape it together with masking tape then just take it apart and shove up in the attic or garage rafters.
@lumberdoktor It didn't exactly melt but softened up enough to loose shape. That's why I mentioned using something else closer to the heat that wouldn't be as affected.

@rschure1 When you buy EVA pay attention to thickness of the sheet. Thicker is better. They usually list it.

It looks as though your hose pulling vacumm is melting, thats why its shinking. Not nessicarily pulling a vaccum. FYI
