idk why i've been going through diff lion king scenes (i loved this movie since i was a ki!) for the past 30 mins and now i ended up watching diff versions of this song ;-; <3 you guys should hear the french version (esp. simba's part) so nice ;_;
@Joeyboykun you also have to remember some of the words they borrow do not normally exist in the japanese language so sometimes they have to. english itself is a huge mess littered with words from many countries too
@Joeyboykun I think you did a very nice job :) and there is never anything wrong with borrowing we have to borrow Japanese words too like sushi and karaoke :)
I kind of feel the same way. :/ I took French class for two and a half years and won several contests, and I've grown to love the Japanese language while watching anime and teaching myself from books and websites...
i dont really wonder myself that this is so awesome. the japanese are far more expirienced in synchronizing animated stuff. since they produce anime^^.
just beautiful. and its so damn typicall that the main "words" of the song are in english. its somehow a japanese habbit. they do it very very often in their songs.
It's amusing how other countries manage to sync perfectly and keep the same good things. It's the amazing thing to see how we all share culturally even with a simple language barrier. Still, that won't stop the spread. :)
I think I might like the Japanese singers for this better than the original. This song could seriously be used for therapy I'm also really impressed by how close they got the voices.
@justdoingbussness go search the english version mate.. Its here on youtube :) Just "Can You Feel The Love Tonight ". I think Elton John made this song, and hes version of it are defintly the best :)
Oh well. I am not fan of this version. I find that the song does not stick too much. And then... I find that the song resembles the Frenchwoman too much.
I've searched through the Japanese versions of Disney songs today, and I am thoroughly impressed with all of them. I am an anime fan, but I feel that has nothing to do with this.
Strangely, I find Japanese voices fit into Disney characters more than English voices fit into anime characters. I could seriously kill most English anime voice actors. That aside, Japanese or not, Disney songs are wonderful I'm glad the voices are so fitting in them.
It's sad that 41 people can't feel the love tonight~
@XxXfunimatoXxX Anime fan =/= we[e]aboo. Sometimes. & in this, I'm talking about Disney, not anime. Even more, I'm speaking about voice acting/dubbing.
Weaboos actually tend to be completely obsessed with anime & act like they're Japanese. Completely butchering the language. Or sometimes they might like English dubs, I don't know [although some are probably good, I wouldn't know].
But if you think "being a weeaboo" & commenting on the differences of voice actors correlate..
Also, you're a weeaboo because you're saying the Japanese (keyword is "Japanese") voices sound so fitting while English voice actors don't. By comparing this to anime and saying you could just "kill" English voice actors, you brought anime into this. Maybe if you actually UNDERSTOOD Japanese, THEN your argument would count as being valid. If you "wouldn't know," then why even say English voice actors are so bad to the point that you can "kill them"? Ass.
@XxXfunimatoXxX Voice acting =/= language. Get it straight before complaining about me not understanding Japanese. I'm not talking about the language. & can't one state his or her own opinion? I just said something I noticed, just noticed, while going through dubs of animes and Disney movies. You make it sound like I hate English in general or something. By "I wouldn't know," I mean I wouldn't know that some English dubs are good or not; whatever I've seen [just clips from each mostly] annoy me.
@XxXfunimatoXxX "Someone who is obsessed with Japan/Japanese Culture/Anime, etc. and attempts to act as if they were Japanese, even though they're far from it. They use Japanese words but usually end up pronouncing them wrong and sounding like total assholes."
"A negative term directed to anyone overly obsessed with Japanese culture to the point where they become annoying.Used frequently on the image boards of 4chan. "
@XxXfunimatoXxX "Most weaboos are uneducated about their obsession of choice and are often otaku knowledge. Another trait of a weaboo is their desire to "be Japanese".
While the two terms are often fused together, weaboos are very different from anime fans or enthusiasts. A fan may be just as enthusiastic and knowlegable
about Japanese culture, mainly otaku(because of its known negative connatation). "
@XxXfunimatoXxX Don't misunderstand, I have nothing against any voice actors, truly, just how their voices are used. I was exaggerating in the OP. All I meant was to comment on how Japanese voice actors for Disney movies are usually very good [usually, but whatever]. If it was in Vietnamese, German, Italian, French, whatever- & still sounded good/near the original, I would have said the same thing. I only mentioned the English dub thing about anime as a side note, an opinion, a comparison, w/e.
@EerieIceMage Well these are production pieces. I speak Japanese fluently and I hear many annoying Japanese voice actors on anime that English speakers think sound better than English actors. But normally if the anime is a full production like a ghibli movie the voice actors are brilliant in English if not better than the Japanese especially in kiki's dilivery service.
I feel like a lot of the positive views for this are pretty skewered. It's packed with anime fans who would worship a Japanese voice no matter how mediocre it is.
@Orochimarusamaismine oh yeah your right O___ö if timon would sai one time "benihime", i think we woul 100% that he's urahara. *imagines timon with lollipop*

@Nekosprites I'm speaking as someone who loves Japanese music and is dorky enough to be in several Jpop groups' fan clubs here, but trust me, there are plenty of Japanese songs that suck. :)
@Nekosprites I love Lady Gaga, and so do most of the Japanese people I know. A lot of J-pop folks totally fangirl/boy over her in the mags here. *shrug*
@babynuko Japanese music usually doesn't do much with rhyming - I think because EVERY japanese word ends with a i u e o or n, so it's not very unique if something has the same sound. A lot of Japanese people don't even understand the IDEA of rhyming (believe me, I've tried to explain lol)
This is what i think of Japanese Dubbed Disney movies. This is by far a greatest dub(My personal opinion)
But as for like western American style movies like(Brother bear, Home on the range, and Spirit) I just don't think any language can keep that rustic nostalgic feel.
Sure you can put Osakan slang to give it that country feel. But still it's just feels incomplete to me.
It's amazing how all the countries are able to manage to use different languages in the same movies and never seem to lose the movies' good parts. :)
This movie is a good example for this fact! ^^
This is the first time to hear this part of The Lion King in Japanese, and I liked it! I'm also into Anime as well! ^^

I'm disappointed none of the Japanese disney dub songs EVER RHYME LOL
babynuko 1 year ago

Because some words or phrases are harder to transalate into romanji or kanji than others.
You'll notice also on some Anime opening themes.

Much better than in english, in fact, all disney movies are better in other languages, such as japanese, portuguese, etc..
