  • Does this system have ICs from 2000-2002. I know Baltimore County purchased 1999 Amtran/Internationals and in 2002 they purchased IC CEs. The only difference between the 99 Amtrans and 02 ICs are the windshield. Dash/Instrument panel. Drivers window. Entry door and driver seat and the rest of the bus looks like the 99 Amtrans. And the 03 ICs look like the 02s except with redesigned upper side walls and the International Logo above the drivers window and front door.

  • @MrWill1985 My current bus is a 2002. These are very different from a 1999. Besides the interior differences they have a much updated engine management system(DT466) and an Allison 5 speed auto instead of a four speed. The suspension is also updated giving the '02 a much better ride. I miss my '99 though.

  • @yellowbusguy Ive noticed the 02 Internationals came with DT466 instead of T444E. And when Baltimore County purchased the IC in 2002 at first I thought I saw a 99 Amtran waiting at a train crossing until I saw the number started with 54 instead of 53 as all of the 99 Amtrans were numbered in the 53s. I think it was 5307-5361 for the 99 Amtrans and the 02 ICs 5433-5513 but Im not 100% sure. Ive never seen the Roster listing for this school system. And I think 5514 is the start of the 03 order.

  • @yellowbusguy What year were you switched to the 02 IC from the 99 Amtran? I know where I went to school drivers had their buses for 3-4 years. Sometimes more sometimes less and some cases Ive seen drivers who had 99 Amtrans when they were new get ICs in 2002 and some got new ICs in 2003. They got 2 orders of ICs in a row during that time. One order in 2002 and one in 2003.

  • what county

  • @09ICCE200 Jefferson County.

  • Like one of the buses in my school

  • @Deafboyasian That bus was a International/Amtran, 1999 model.

  • i find freight liner is a good product

  • If we had airhorns there would be many deaf car drivers in our area.

  • I wish I could take videos of my run! I would be very fired, though. My place doesn't let us film or take pictures on the lot or on the buses. Really cool to see someone uploading this kind of thing.

  • Nice video

  • Cool Video!

  • what kind of bus is that?

  • Mine is a International/amtran conventional 66 passenger. It is equipped with a diesel engine and 4 speed automatic trans. It has both rear and side emergency exits.

  • cool

  • Thanks for the comment. We are assigned a parking slot and they are numbered. We don't use gps yet, we all run the same routes daily and we advise our compound if we need to go off route due to traffic or whatever.

  • Great backing uo and so on. I like the yard there. How do they know whos parked were? and bus numbers location are they on GPS now? or going to be?

  • Cool Video!

  • it sounds like a Cummins L10

  • All of our buses use diesel engines which are more fuel efficient and durable than gasoline engines. We use diesels also for safety reasons because the fuel is less explosive than gasoline. My bus has about 134'000 miles on it now and still runs like new.

  • How old do you have to be to get this job, and how long would it took?

  • The minimum age to drive a school bus is 21. We require a minimum of two weeks training through our training department, both in the class room and on the road driving. Testing is given daily and if you successfully pass the DOT exam you are hired and assigned a compound to work out of. Evaluations and a 90 day probationary period follow along with more training by working drivers. Some people make it and some don't. It's a job not suited to everyone who tries it out.

  • Thanks for telling me. i guess I got to wait alot longer than I thought, because I always wanted this job. Thanks again

  • WAS THERE HOMES NEAR THE COMPOUND????

  • There is a nieghborhood right next to the compound, on the other side of the fence are homes. We all have to use replacement buses from time to time so that maintenance can be done on ours.

  • HAD YOU HAVE A REPLACEMENT BUS???????

  • Are you all required to do a pre-trip as well as a post-trip inspection?

  • Yes we are! We do a hood up detailed inspection in the morning and a "walk around" before the afternoon run. The inspections are recorded in our log books. You are a driver?

  • Yes, first year driving. We also do the under hood inspection as well as a walk around in the morning, and just a regular walk around in the evening.

  • me too, I'm going to drive a school bus for a part time job.

  • All of our buses are automatics with the exception of a few special needs. Those are being replaced though.

  • I'll leave out the bus number for now...by "str8 drive" do you mean what type of transmission?
